Two-dimensional(2D)magnet/superconductor heterostructures can promote the design of artificial materials for exploring 2D physics and device applications by exotic proximity effects.However,plagued by the low Curie temperature and instability in air,it is hard to realize practical applications for the reported layered magnetic materials at present.In this paper,we developed a space-confined chemical vapor deposition method to synthesize ultrathin air-stable ε-Fe_(2)O_(3) nanosheets with Curie temperature above 350 K.The ε-Fe_(2)O_(3)/NbSe_(2) heterojunction was constructed to study the magnetic proximity effect on the superconductivity of the NbSe_(2) multilayer.The electrical transport results show that the subtle proximity effect can modulate the interfacial spin–orbit interaction while undegrading the superconducting critical parameters.Our work paves the way to construct 2D heterojunctions with ultrathin nonlayered materials and layered van der Waals(vdW)materials for exploring new physical phenomena. 展开更多

The mystery of superconductivity has intrigued scientists for 110 years now. The author in 2014 specifically predicted the superconductivity in carbon, sulfur and hydrogen compounds and generally predicted carbonaceous, hydrogeneous and sulfurous compounds in 2005 with reference to scattering to asymmetric orbital motions and associated spin and orbital exchanges between nuclei and electrons. The emphasis was in 2005 upon stronger electron and nuclear interactions and electron-phonon effects. But here the author develops more the un-gerade parity of the p and f orbitals and their contributions to the superconductivity at lower pressures and higher temperatures. On the bases of such, the role of parity from the origin and inflation of the Universe is noted and dark and bright energies and matters in the mature Universe are reasoned. Moreover, the superconductors are all reasoned by positive and negative nuclear magnetic moments (NMMs) with availability of un-gerade parities of p and f subshells and their orbitals. In addition to superconductivity, such positive and negative NMMs by Little Effect is presented for explaining Pomeranchuk Effect and thereby further explaining superconductivity and superfluidity of <sup>3</sup>He. On the bases of successes of Little Effect via positive and negative NMMs, in particular negative NMMs of <sup>3</sup>He, the superconductivity in twisted graphene is explained and also its recently discovered Pomeranchuk Effect. 展开更多

Based on the closed-orbit theory, the magnetic field effect in the photodetachment of negative ion in the electric field near a metal surface is studied for the first time. The results show that the magnetic field can produce a significant effect on the photodetachment of negative ion near a metal surface. Besides the closed orbits previously found by Duet al. for the H in the electric field near a metal surface (J. Phys. B 43 035002 (2010)), some additional closed orbits are produced due to the effect of magnetic field. For a given ion surface distance and an electric field strength, the cross section depends sensitively on the magnetic field strength. As the magnetic field strength is very small, its influence can be neglected. With the increase of the magnetic field strength, the number of the closed orbits increases greatly and the oscillation in the cross section becomes much more complex. Therefore we can control the photodetachment cross section of the negative ion by changing the magnetic field strength. We hope that our results may guide future experimental studies for the photodetachment process of negative ion in the presence of external fields and surfaces. 展开更多

The magnetocaloric effect(MCE) of RT Si and RT Al systems with R = Gd–Tm, T = Fe–Cu and Pd, which have been widely investigated in recent years, is reviewed. It is found that these RT X compounds exhibit various crystal structures and magnetic properties, which then result in different MCE. Large MCE has been observed not only in the typical ferromagnetic materials but also in the antiferromagnetic materials. The magnetic properties have been studied in detail to discuss the physical mechanism of large MCE in RT X compounds. Particularly, some RT X compounds such as Er Fe Si,Ho Cu Si, Ho Cu Al exhibit large reversible MCE under low magnetic field change, which suggests that these compounds could be promising materials for magnetic refrigeration in a low temperature range. 展开更多

Considering the actual magnetic field configuration in a Hall thruster, the effect of magnetic mirror on the radial profile of near-wall conductivity (NWC) is studied in this paper. The plasma electron dynamic process is described by the test particle method. The Monte Carlo scheme is used to solve this model. The radial profile of electron mobility is obtained and the role of magnetic mirror in NWC is analysed both theoretically and numerically. The numerical results show that the electron mobility peak due to NWC is inversely proportional to the magnetic mirror ratio and the asymmetry of electron mobility along the radial direction gets greater when the magnetic mirror is considered. This effect indicates that apart from the disparity in the magnetic field strength, the difference in the magnetic mirror ratio near the inner and outer walls would actually augment the asymmetry of the radial profile of NWC in Hall thrusters. 展开更多

In this paper, we review the magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effects(MCE) of binary R–T(R = Pr, Gd, Tb,Dy, Ho, Er, Tm; T = Ga, Ni, Co, Cu) intermetallic compounds(including RGa series, RNi series, R_(12... In this paper, we review the magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effects(MCE) of binary R–T(R = Pr, Gd, Tb,Dy, Ho, Er, Tm; T = Ga, Ni, Co, Cu) intermetallic compounds(including RGa series, RNi series, R_(12)Co_7 series, R_3 Co series and RCu_2series), which have been investigated in detail in the past several years. The R–T compounds are studied by means of magnetic measurements, heat capacity measurements, magnetoresistance measurements and neutron powder diffraction measurements. The R–T compounds show complex magnetic transitions and interesting magnetic properties.The types of magnetic transitions are investigated and confirmed in detail by multiple approaches. Especially, most of the R–T compounds undergo more than one magnetic transition, which has significant impact on the magnetocaloric effect of R–T compounds. The MCE of R–T compounds are calculated by different ways and the special shapes of MCE peaks for different compounds are investigated and discussed in detail. To improve the MCE performance of R–T compounds,atoms with large spin(S) and atoms with large total angular momentum(J) are introduced to substitute the related rare earth atoms. With the atom substitution, the maximum of magnetic entropy change(?SM), refrigerant temperature width(Twidth)or refrigerant capacity(RC) is enlarged for some R–T compounds. In the low temperature range, binary R–T(R = Pr, Gd,Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm; T = Ga, Ni, Co, Cu) intermetallic compounds(including RGa series, RNi series,R_(12)Co_7 series, R_3 Co series and RCu_2series) show excellent performance of MCE, indicating the potential application for gas liquefaction in the future. 展开更多

Detecting stress concentration, especially critical stress state leading to structure damage or failure, is one of the most important tasks of equipment diagnosis. Metal magnetic memory technique needs further research to evaluate stress concentration quantitatively due to ambiguous physical mechanism, though it has potential to detect early defects in ferromagnetic materials. Mild Q235 steel defective specimens in demagnetization state were loaded in tension up to visible necking, with magnetic memory signals measurement made at increasing stress levels. Magnetic signals varied greatly under first several loadings and subsequently tended to stability in the elastic region, which showed that the magnetization always approaches the anhysteretic magnetization curve and was explained by the theory of magnetomechanical effect. In the plastic stage, an abnormal wave occurred in the stress concentration zone and its height value was sensitive to plastic deformation levels and dependent on the distance between the probe and defect, in accordance with the simulation results based on the magnetic dipole model. Different magnetic signal characteristics in the elastic-plastic region indicate that the magnetic memory technique can identify macroyielding and early damage, which is of profound significance for ensuring safe operation of equipment in service. 展开更多

The lattice parameter and magnetocaloric properties of three samples of LaFe11.2Co0.7Si1.1-xGax with x = 0, 0.03 and 0.05 have been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction and magnetization measurements. The lattice parameter increases slightly and the Curie temperature increases somewhat with increasing gallium content. However, a small amount of Ga doping into the sample decreases the magnetic entropy change of the sample. All the samples remain in the first-order magnetic phase transition. The most striking effect of the Ga doping is that the cooling capacity in the samples increases significantly. The maximum magnetic entropy change, ASM and the cooling capacity of the sample LaFe11.2Co0.7Si1.07Ga0.03 are 11.9 J·kg^-1·K^-1 and 254.8 J·kg^-1, respectively. 展开更多

The magnetocaloric properties of the GdsGe2.025Si1.925In0.05 compound have been studied by x-ray diffraction, magnetic and heat capacity measurements. Powder x-ray diffraction measurement shows that the compound has a dominant phase of monoclinic Cd5Ge2Si2-type structure and a small quantity of Gds(Ge,Si)3-type phase at room temperature. At about 270 K, this compound shows a first order phase transition. The isothermal magnetic entropy change (△SM) is calculated from the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the magnetization and the temperature dependence of MCE in terms of adiabatic temperature change (△Tad) is calculated from the isothermal magnetic entropy change and the temperature variation in zero-field heat-capacity data. The maximum △SM is -13.6 J·kg^-1.K^- 1 and maximum ATad is 13 K for the magnetic field change of 0 5 T. The Debye temperature (θD) of this compound is 149 K and the value of DOS at the Fermi level is 1.6 states/eV.atom from the low temperature zero-field heat-capacity data. A considerable isothermal magnetic entropy change and adiabatic temperature change under a field change of 0-5 T jointly make the Gd5Ge2.025Si1.925In0.05 compound an attractive candidate for a magnetic refrigerant. 展开更多

Magnetic radiation phenomena appear inevitably in the magnetic-resonance wireless power transfer (MR-WPT) system, and regarding this problem the magnetic-shielding scheme is applied to improve the electromagnetic performance in engineering. In this study, the shielding effectiveness of a two-coil MR-WPT system for different material shields is analyzed in theory using Moser's formula and Schelkunoff's formula. On this basis a candidate magnetic-shielding scheme with a double-layer structure is determined, which has better shielding effectiveness and coils coupling coefficient. Finally, some finite element simulation results validate the correctness of the theoretical analysis, and the shielding effectiveness with the double-layer shield in maximum is 30?dB larger than the one with the single-layer case. 展开更多

The μi-T curves of the alloy Fe73.5Cu1 Nb3Si13.5B9 in the amorphous state and in the nanocrys-talline state have been investigated. For comparison, μi-T curves of the other two kinds of typical soft magnetic alloys also have been measured. It was found that a sharp Hopkinson peak appeared at the Curie point for each amorphous and crystalline alloy but there was no Hopkinson peak for the nanocrystalline alloy at the Curie point of the residual amorphous phase. This phenomenon has been explained in terms of the characteristic temperature dependence of the effective magnetic anisotropy. 展开更多

This result suggests that (La_(0.6)Dy_(0.1))Sr_(0.3)MnO_3 is a suitable candidate as working substance at room temperature in magnetic refrigeration technology. 展开更多

The phases and the magnetocaloric effect in the alloys R(Co1-xSnx)2 with X = 0, 0.025, 0.050, 0.075, and 0.100 were investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis and magnetization measurement. The substitution of Sn in RCo2 is limited. The cubic MgCu2-type structure for the alloys of RCo2 was confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction and the remaining alloys mainly consisted of the RCo2 phase, along with some RCo3 and R5Sn3 impurity phases. The impurity phases increase with the increase of Sn content. The Tc of the alloys is not very sensitive to the Sn substitution for Dy(Co1-xSnx)2 and Tb(Co1-xSnx)2, whereas in Gd(Co1-xSnx)2, the Curie temperatures significantly increase. The maximum magnetic entropy changes in the alloys Dy(Co1-xSnx)2 (x = 0, 0.025, 0.050, 0.075) are 5.78, 5.43, 3.88, and 2.98 J·kg^-1·K^-1, respectively, and those in the Tb(Co1-xSnx)2 (x = 0, 0.025) are 3.44, and 2.29 J·kg^-1·K^-1 respectively in the applied field change of 0-2.0 T. 展开更多

A large reversible magnetocaloric effect accompanied by a second order magnetic phase transition from PM to FM is observed in the Ho Pd compound. Under the magnetic field change of 0–5 T, the magnetic entropy change-ΔS max M and the refrigerant capacity RC for the compound are evaluated to be 20 J/(kg·K) and 342 J/kg, respectively. In particular,large-ΔS max M(11.3 J/(kg·K)) and RC(142 J/kg) are achieved under a low magnetic field change of 0–2 T with no thermal hysteresis and magnetic hysteresis loss. The large reversible magnetocaloric effect(both the large-ΔS M and the high RC)indicates that Ho Pd is a promising material for magnetic refrigeration at low temperature. 展开更多

In the samples (Gd1-xNdx)Co2 with x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4, the maximum magnetic entropy change is 1.471, 1.228, 1.280, 1.381 and 1.610 J·kg^-1·K^-1, respectively, in the applied field range of 0-2.0 T. The results of Arrott plots confirmed that the transition type were second order magnetic transition forx = 0, 0.3, and 0.4. 展开更多

It may indicate that the influences of the magnetic field and the pressure on the phase transition are virtually equivalent. Moreover, theoretical analyses reveal that the total entropy change is almost definite at a certain Curie temperature no matter whether the applied external field is a magnetic field or a pressure. The entropy change curve can be broadened dramatically under pressure, and the refrigerant capacity is improved from 284.7 J/kg to 447.0 J/kg. 展开更多
