It is found that the total pumped spin per cycle exhibits oscillations, whose magnitude decays exponentially with changing strength of the impurity potential. Thermoelectric transport through a quantum dot with a magnetic impurity

We study the thermoelectric effect in a small quantum dot with a magnetic impurity in the Coulomb blockade regime. We study the thermoelectric effect in a small quantum dot with a magnetic impurity in the Coulomb blockade regime. The electrical conductance, thermal conductance, thermopower, and the thermoelectrical figure of merit (FOM) are calcu- lated by using Green's function method. It is found that the peaks in the electrical conductance are split by the exchange coupling between the electron entering into the dot and the magnetic impurity inside the dot, accompanied by the decrease in the height of peaks. As a result, the resonances in the thermoelectric quantities, such as the thermal conductance, ther- mopower, and the FOM, are all split, opening some effective new working regions. Despite of the significant reduction in the height of the electrical conductance peaks induced by the exchange coupling, the values of the FOM and the ther-mopower can be as large as those in the case of zero exchange coupling. We also find that the thermoelectric efficiency, characterized by the magnitude of the FOM, can be enhanced by adjusting the left-right asymmetry of the electrode-dot coupling or by optimizing the system's temperature. 展开更多

Aharonov-Casher oscillasions of transmission through a mesoscopic ring with a magnetic impurity is investigated. Both spin-dependent transmission and reflection coefficients of spin-state electrons at zero-temperature are calculated as a function of the textured electric fields and its title angle in the present of spin-flipper scattering. It is found that the spin-exchange interaction can destroy intermittently periodic oscillations of spin-up transmission and reflection coefficients within some small ranges in the adiabatic region of quantum phase. However spin-down transmission and reflection coefficients appear periodic AC oscillations. The calculated results manifest that spindown transmission and reflection coefficients have the same perfect oscillation patterns. In the nonadiabatic region, the behavior of the anomalous AC oscillations are depedent on the difference between the tilt angle of spin and that of texture electric field. 展开更多

Interplay between Carrier Polarization, Spin-Orbit Coupling and Exchange Field on Anomalous Hall Conductivity in the Presence of Magnetic Impurity in Mn Doped GaAs

We develop a model Hamiltonian to treat anomalous Hall conductivity in dilute magnetic semiconductor (DMS) of type (III, Mn, V) considering the impurity potentials (potential due to interaction of spin of carriers with localized spin of dopant (Mn) and coulomb like potential). Using equation of motion in Green function together with Quantum Kubo-formula of conductivity, the anomalous Hall conductivity is calculated as function of spin-orbit coupling, exchange field and carrier polarization. The calculated result shows that at low impurity concentration, the interplay between spin polarization of carriers, spin-orbit coupling and exchange fields is crucial for existence of anomalous Hall conductivity. The monotonic increment of anomalous Hall conductivity with exchange field is observed for strong spin-orbit coupling limit. In weak spin-orbit coupling limit, the magnitude of anomalous Hall conductivity increases parabolically with the spin-orbit coupling. Our results provide an important basis for understanding the interplay between the spin polarization, spin-orbit coupling, and exchange field on anomalous Hall conductivity at low impurity concentration. The findings are also a key step to realize dissipationless quantum transport without external magnetic field. 展开更多

We derive in details the expressions of diffusive π modes in the retarded-retarded (or advancedadvanced) channel, which result from the existence of particle-hole symmetry. The quantum interference correction to the density of states is calculated. The electron states in a two-dimensional GaAs/AlGaAs quantum ring are theoretically studied in effective mass approximation. On-centre donor impurity and uniform magnetic field perpendicular to the ring plane are taken into account. The energy spectrum with different angular momentum changes dramatically with the geometry of the ring. The donor impurity reduces the energies with an almost fixed value; however, the magnetic field alters energies in a more complex way. For example, energy levels under magnetic field will cross each other when increasing the inner radius and outer radius of the ring, leading to the fact that the arrangement of energy levels is distinct in certain geometry of the ring. Moreover, energy levels with negative angular momentum exhibit the non-monotonous dependence on the increasing magnetic field. 展开更多

M-T curves, ρ-T curves, and MR-T curves of La0.67-xErxSr0.33MnO3(x=0.00, 0.10, 0.20) system were studied by experiments. The experiments showed that: with increasing the doping amount, the magnetic structure of the system transformed from long-range ferromagnetic ordering to spin-cluster glass state, and M-T curves bent up in the extremely low temperature range; the resistivity of the system increased with increasing doping amount and exhibited the minimum phenomenon of low-temperature resistivity. The variation of the magnetic and electric properties came from the extra magnetic coupling induced by the doping and from the Kondo effect induced by the lattice distortion and local magnetic moments which was similar to that induced by the scattering of magnetic impurities on electron spins. © 2009 The Chinese Society of Rare Earths. 展开更多

A new idea is proposed by the PKU group to improve the magnetic properties of the Type-Ⅱ superconductor niobium. Rare earth elements like scandium and yttrium are doped into ingot niobium during the smelting processes. A series of experiments have been done since 2010. The preliminary testing results show that the magnetic properties of niobium materials have changed with different doping elements and proportions while the superconductive transition temperature does not change very much. This method may increase the superheating magnetic field of niobium so as to improve the performance of the niobium cavity, which is a key component of SRF accelerators. A Tesla-type single-cell cavity made of scandium-doped niobium is being fabricated. 展开更多

Zn1-xMnxO (x = 0.0005, 0.001, 0.005, 0.01, 0.02) nanocrystals are synthesized by using a wet chemical process. The coordination environment of Mn is characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and its X-ray absorption fine structure. It is found that the solubility of substitutional Mn in a ZnO lattice is very low, which is less than 0.4%. Mn ions first dissolve into the substitutional sites in the ZnO lattice, thereby forming Mn2+O4 tetrahedral coordination when x ≤ 0.001, then entering into the interstitial sites and forming Mn3+O6 octahedral coordination when x ≥ 0.005. All the samples exhibit paramagnetic behaviors at room temperature, and antiferromagnetic coupling can be observed below 100 K. 展开更多

The effect of externally applied resonant magnetic perturbation(RMP)on carbon impurity behavior is investigated in the J-TEXT tokamak.It is found that the m/n=3/1 islands have an impurity screening effect,which becomes obvious while the edge magnetic island is generated via RMP field penetration.The impurity screening effect shows a dependence on the RMP phase with the field penetration,which is strongest if the O point of the magnetic island is near the low-field-side(LFS)limiter plate.By combining a methane injection experimental study and STRAHL impurity transport analysis,we found that the variation of the impurity transport dominates the impurity screening effect.The impurity diffusion at the inner plasma region(r/a<0.8)is enhanced with a significant increase in outward convection velocity at the edge region in the case of the magnetic island’s O point near the LFS limiter plate.The impurity transport coefficient varies by a much lower level for the case with the magnetic island’s X point near the LFS limiter plate.The interaction of the magnetic island and the LFS limiter plate is thought to contribute to the impurity transport variation with the dependence on the RMP phase.A possible reason is the interaction between the magnetic island and the LFS limiter. 展开更多

当今社会对储能技术需求日益迫切,电化学储能作为储能系统中的“桥梁”极具发展潜力,然而面临电化学储能中微量杂质相检测以及复杂界面储能探测的挑战,传统表征手段已经显示出局限性。储能材料的晶体结构、元素价态、电子能带以及电化... 当今社会对储能技术需求日益迫切,电化学储能作为储能系统中的“桥梁”极具发展潜力,然而面临电化学储能中微量杂质相检测以及复杂界面储能探测的挑战,传统表征手段已经显示出局限性。储能材料的晶体结构、元素价态、电子能带以及电化学特性与其磁学性质密切耦合,因此本文基于磁性测试,通过高低温等温磁化曲线(magnetic hysteresis,M-H)测试、零场冷/场冷(zero-field-cooled/field-cooled,ZFC/FC)变温磁化曲线测试,相较于传统表征手段X射线衍射(X-ray diffraction,XRD)、X射线光电子能谱(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,XPS)及高分辨透射电镜(high resolution transmission electron microscope,HRTEM),能够定量、高效、精准地检测出CoO中存在有效降低极化、提升首圈库仑效率(74.3%~83.77%)、提高大电流循环性能(2 A/g 50圈容量保持率116.59%)的微量金属Co杂质相(CoO/Co@20min 0.66%,CoO/Co@40min 2.27%)。同时本文利用原位实时磁学循环伏安法CV测试及恒流充放电测试,直观揭示出CoO在低电压区间里复杂、难以探测的空间电荷与固体电解质界面(solid electrolyte interphase,SEI)膜两种不同类型的界面储能机制,成功解释了CoO远超理论容量的额外容量来源。储能材料的合成制备离不开高度精准的杂质相检测,储能领域的下一步研究发展取决于能否对界面储能深入理解。本工作为杂质相检测及界面储能机理探测提供了一种无伤且高分辨的磁学全新视角,为推动储能领域的创新,解决当今社会面临的能源挑战贡献力量。 展开更多

We theoretically investigate the Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yosida(RKKY) interaction in helical higher-order topological insulators(HOTIs), revealing distinct behaviors mediated by hinge and Dirac-type bulk carriers. Our findings show that hinge-mediated interactions consist of Heisenberg, Ising, and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya(DM) terms, exhibiting a decay with impurity spacing z and oscillations with Fermi energy εF. These interactions demonstrate ferromagnetic behaviors for the Heisenberg and Ising terms and alternating behavior for the DM term. In contrast, bulk-mediated interactions include Heisenberg, twisted Ising, and DM terms, with a conventional cubic oscillating decay. This study highlights the nuanced interplay between hinge and bulk RKKY interactions in HOTIs, offering insights into designs of next-generation quantum devices based on HOTIs. 展开更多

In the absence of the magnetic field, the investigations of the charged impurity effect on the quantum entanglement (QE) in some low-lying states are carried out. It is found that, both the positive charged impurity (PCI) and the negative charged impurity (NCI) reduce the QE in the low-lying states under consideration except that the QE in the ground state is enhanced by the NCI. Additionally, in the domain of B from 0 Tesla to 15 Tesla, the ground state energy E, the ground state angular momentum L and the ground state QE entropy S are worked out. As far as the ground state are concerned, the PCI (NCI) blocks (induces) the angular momentum phase transition and the QE phase transition besides the known fact (i.e., the PCI/NCI decreases/increases the energy) in the magnetic field. 展开更多

For a two-dimensional ultra-cold Fermi superfluid with an effective static magnetic impurity, we theoretically investigated the variation of the Yu–Shiba–Rusinov(YSR) bound state in the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer(BCS) to Bose–Einstein condensation(BEC) crossover regime.Within the framework of mean-field theory, analytical results of the YSR bound state energy were obtained as a function of the interaction parameters.First, when the background Fermi superfluid system stays in the weakly interacting BCS regime, we found that the YSR bound state energy is linearly dependent on the gap parameter with its coefficient slightly different from previous results.Second, we discovered re-entrance phenomena for the YSR state and an upper bound of the strength of the interaction between the paired atoms.By carefully analyzing the bound state energy as a function of the interaction parameters, we obtained a phase diagram showing the existence of the YSR state.Finally, we concluded that the re-entrance phenomena and the critical point can be easily experimentally detected through measurement of radio-frequency spectroscopy and density of states using current experimental techniques. 展开更多
