Smart Management Information Systems(Smis):Concept,Evolution,Research Hotspots and Applications

Management information system(MiS),a human-computer system that deeply integrates next-generation information technology and management services,has become the nerve center of society and organizations.With the development of next-generation information technology,Mis has gradually entered the smart period.However,research on smart managementinformation systems(SMIS)is still limited,lacking systematic summarization of its conceptual definition,evolution,research hotspots,and typical applications.Therefore,this paper defines the conceptual characteristics of SMIS,provides an overview of the evolution of SMIS,examines research focus areas using bibliometric methods,and elaborates on typical application practices of sMis in fields such as health care,elderly care,manufacturing,and transportation.Furthermore,we discuss the future development directions of SMIS in four key areas:smart interaction,smart decisionmaking,efficient resource allocation,and flexible system architecture.These discussions provide guidance and a foundation for the theoretical development and practical application of SMIS.

Cross-Domain Authentication Scheme Based on Blockchain and Consistent Hash Algorithm for System-Wide Information Management

System-wide information management(SWIM)is a complex distributed information transfer and sharing system for the next generation of Air Transportation System(ATS).In response to the growing volume of civil aviation air operations,users accessing different authentication domains in the SWIM system have problems with the validity,security,and privacy of SWIM-shared data.In order to solve these problems,this paper proposes a SWIM crossdomain authentication scheme based on a consistent hashing algorithm on consortium blockchain and designs a blockchain certificate format for SWIM cross-domain authentication.The scheme uses a consistent hash algorithm with virtual nodes in combination with a cluster of authentication centers in the SWIM consortium blockchain architecture to synchronize the user’s authentication mapping relationships between authentication domains.The virtual authentication nodes are mapped separately using different services provided by SWIM to guarantee the partitioning of the consistent hash ring on the consortium blockchain.According to the dynamic change of user’s authentication requests,the nodes of virtual service authentication can be added and deleted to realize the dynamic load balancing of cross-domain authentication of different services.Security analysis shows that this protocol can resist network attacks such as man-in-the-middle attacks,replay attacks,and Sybil attacks.Experiments show that this scheme can reduce the redundant authentication operations of identity information and solve the problems of traditional cross-domain authentication with single-point collapse,difficulty in expansion,and uneven load.At the same time,it has better security of information storage and can realize the cross-domain authentication requirements of SWIM users with low communication costs and system overhead.KEYWORDS System-wide information management(SWIM);consortium blockchain;consistent hash;cross-domain authentication;load balancing.

Information Management in Disaster and Humanitarian Response: A Case in United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs

To guarantee a unified response to disasters, humanitarian organizations work together via the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Although the OCHA has made great strides to improve its information management and increase the availability of accurate, real-time data for disaster and humanitarian response teams, significant gaps persist. There are inefficiencies in the emergency management of data at every stage of its lifecycle: collection, processing, analysis, distribution, storage, and retrieval. Disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management are the two main tenets of the United Nations’ worldwide plan for disaster management. Information systems are crucial because of the crucial roles they play in capturing, processing, and transmitting data. The management of information is seldom discussed in published works. The goal of this study is to employ qualitative research methods to provide insight by facilitating an expanded comprehension of relevant contexts, phenomena, and individual experiences. Humanitarian workers and OCHA staffers will take part in the research. The study subjects will be chosen using a random selection procedure. Online surveys with both closed- and open-ended questions will be used to compile the data. UN OCHA offers a structure for the handling of information via which all humanitarian actors may contribute to the overall response. This research will enable the UN Office for OCHA better gather, process, analyze, disseminate, store, and retrieve data in the event of a catastrophe or humanitarian crisis.

Development of an Integrated System to Enhance Spatial Data Processing & Management for Planning Authorities

In a world where there is constant data generation and processing, the need for an integrated system cannot be overemphasized. The systems that enable storage of large amounts of spatial data and must be made available to multiple users in real time. Studies have shown that standalone desktop spatial systems are often rigid and inflexible to support multiple data processing or demands from multiple users. The integrated spatial management system was designed to address the above highlighted challenges by bringing enhanced possibilities of utilization of spatial data though improving accessibility, visualization, and processing spatial information. The present work employed a mixed approach of qualitative and quantitative techniques to obtain the desired result. Qualitative data collection tools were used to collect field data required to design the prototype. The research sought to establish whether the integrated systems are in use by the targeted institutions, the findings highlighted that 71.4% have no integrated spatial data systems while 28.6% have partial-integrated systems. An overview of the architecture of integrated spatial systems consists of a well distributed database linked to multiple tools and platforms to query both the spatial and non-spatial data. The WEB-GIS and Mobile GIS interfaces were developed to allow multiple users to access information through the web in real time and data collection, respectively.

This scheme adopts a three-tiers mode of B/S Browser/Server) and software programming module based on software reusing technology. This makes the system integrated and open, makes maintenance and updating convenient, and largely increases software safety and reusability.

Based on the above research the thesis also discussed how to develop the study on product quality information and const ruct it’s decision making support system. Based on the type analysis, scientific management of product quality information should start from dynamic information of quality, instruction information as we ll as the information about the use, maintain, management and conservation of pr oduct, and induce them and further propose a design scheme of feedback system on product quality information, and then set up the blueprint of the information s ystem of product quality. Intelligent Information Management in Aquaponics to Increase Mutual Benefits

Aquaponics are feedback and two player systems, in which fish and crops mutually benefit from one another and, therefore require close monitoring, management and control. Vast amount of data and information flow from the aquaponics plant itself with its huge amount of smart sensors for water quality, fish and plant growth, system state etc. and from the stakeholder, e.g., farmers, retailers and end consumers. The intelligent management of aquaponics is only possible if this data and information are managed and used in an intelligent way. Therefore, the main focus of this paper is to introduce an intelligent information management (IIM) for aquaponics. It will be shown how the information can be used to create services such as predictive analytics, system optimization and anomaly detection to improve the aquaponics system. The results show that the system enabled full traceability and transparency in the aquaponics processes (customers can follow what is going on at the farm), reduced water and energy use and increased revenue through early fault detection. In this, paper the information management approach will be introduced and the key benefits of the digitized aquaponics system will be given.

Information-Centric IoT-Based Smart Farming with Dynamic Data Optimization

Smart farming has become a strategic approach of sustainable agriculture management and monitoring with the infrastructure to exploit modern technologies,including big data,the cloud,and the Internet of Things(IoT).Many researchers try to integrate IoT-based smart farming on cloud platforms effectively.They define various frameworks on smart farming and monitoring system and still lacks to define effective data management schemes.Since IoT-cloud systems involve massive structured and unstructured data,data optimization comes into the picture.Hence,this research designs an Information-Centric IoT-based Smart Farming with Dynamic Data Optimization(ICISF-DDO),which enhances the performance of the smart farming infrastructure with minimal energy consumption and improved lifetime.Here,a conceptual framework of the proposed scheme and statistical design model has beenwell defined.The information storage and management with DDO has been expanded individually to show the effective use of membership parameters in data optimization.The simulation outcomes state that the proposed ICISF-DDO can surpass existing smart farming systems with a data optimization ratio of 97.71%,reliability ratio of 98.63%,a coverage ratio of 99.67%,least sensor error rate of 8.96%,and efficient energy consumption ratio of 4.84%.

Clicking through the Clickstream: A Novel Statistical Modeling Approach to Improve Information Usage of Clickstream Data by E-Commerce Entities

Success or failure of an E-commerce platform is often reduced to its ability to maximize the conversion rate of its visitors. This is commonly regarded as the capacity to induce a purchase from a visitor. Visitors possess individual characteristics, histories, and objectives which complicate the choice of what platform features that maximize the conversion rate. Modern web technology has made clickstream data accessible allowing a complete record of a visitor’s actions on a website to be analyzed. What remains poorly constrained is what parts of the clickstream data are meaningful information and what parts are accidental for the problem of platform design. In this research, clickstream data from an online retailer was examined to demonstrate how statistical modeling can improve clickstream information usage. A conceptual model was developed that conjectured relationships between visitor and platform variables, visitors’ platform exit rate, boune rate, and decision to purchase. Several hypotheses on the nature of the clickstream relationships were posited and tested with the models. A discrete choice logit model showed that the content of a website, the history of website use, and the exit rate of pages visited had marginal effects on derived utility for the visitor. Exit rate and bounce rate were modeled as beta distributed random variables. It was found that exit rate and its variability for pages visited were associated with site content, site quality, prior visitor history on the site, and technological preferences of the visitor. Bounce rate was also found to be influenced by the same factors but was in a direction opposite to the registered hypotheses. Most findings supported that clickstream data is amenable to statistical modeling with interpretable and comprehensible models.

Building a Business and Strategic Intelligence Policy as a Strategy for Promoting Congolese Business Progress and Healthy Economic Development in Eastern DRC

The aim of this study was to verify the existence of business and strategic intelligence policies at the level of Congolese companies and at the state level, likely to foster progress and healthy development in the east of the DRC. The study was based on a mixed perspective consisting of objective analysis of quantitative data and interpretative analysis of qualitative data. The results showed that business and strategic intelligence policies have not been established at either company or state level, as this is an area of activity that is not known to the players in companies and public departments, and there are no units or offices in their organizational structures responsible for managing strategic information for competitiveness on the international market. In addition, there is a real need to establish strategic information management units within companies, upstream, and to set up a national strategic information management department or agency to help local companies compete in the marketplace, downstream. This reflects the importance and timeliness of building business and strategic intelligence policies to ensure economic progress and development in the eastern DRC. Business and strategic intelligence provides companies with an appropriate tool for researching, collecting, processing and disseminating information useful for decision-making among stakeholders, in order to cope with a crisis or competitive situation. The study suggests a number of key recommendations based on its findings. To the government, it is recommended to establish the national policy of business and strategic intelligence by setting up a national agency of strategic intelligence in favor of local companies;and to companies to establish business intelligence units in their organizational structures in favor of stakeholders to foster advantageous decision-making in the competitive market and achieve progress. Finally, the study suggests that studies be carried out to fully understand the opportunities and impact of business and strategic intelligence in African countries, particularly in the DRC.

Methods for the Efficient Energy Management in a Smart Mini Greenhouse

To solve the problem of energy efficiency of modern enterprise it is necessary to reduce energy consumption.One of the possible ways is proposed in this research.A multi-level hierarchical system for energy efficiency management of the enterprise is designed,it is based on the modular principle providing rapid modernization.The novelty of the work is the development of new and improvement of the existing methods and models,in particular:1)models for dynamic analysis of IT tools for data acquisition and processing(DAAP)in multilevel energy management systems,which are based on Petri nets;2)method of synthesis of DAAP tools in energy efficiency management information systems(EEMIS)of the enterprise which provides a reduction in hardware and time costs from 10%to 40%;3)method of conflict-free data exchange determining the minimum memory speed for the synthesis of realtime exchanges,it reduces the cost and energy consumption;4)method of calculating the signal of postsynaptic excitation of neural elements decreases the processing time of technological data two or more times.The proposed methods,models and tools have been tested while implementing the EEMIS of the intelligent mini-greenhouse,as a result,energy efficiency has increased by 12%-25%(depending on season and peculiarities of growing plants).

Organizational Resilience:A Key Factor for Business Survival and Value Creation-A Secondary Publication

The lodging and restaurant services sector in the city of Pereira presents complex situations generated by the turbulence of the new business game.Companies that survive the new challenges and those recently established require strategies that allow them to extend their life expectancy.Therefore,the study aims to identify how to apply resilience and management disciplines in a tool that allows companies in the sector under study to sufficiently face situations of high complexity.Achieving this objective requires knowing the causes of the short life span of many companies,identifying how surviving companies articulate management disciplines with their strategic objectives,and analyzing the possibility of formulating an organizational model based on resilience as a value.The methodology applied was mixed.The sample was simply random;23 companies were analyzed through structured interviews and participant observation.As the most significant results:the deficient application of management disciplines was identified as an important cause of company closures;the level of acceptance to implement the practice of resilience and management disciplines in companies;and the way to apply resilience and management disciplines in an instrument that builds value.It was concluded that an organizational model should be formulated where resilience and management disciplines are applied to face times of crisis.

Laboratory information management system for biosafety laboratory:Safety and efficiency

Laboratory information management system(LIMS)has been widely used to facilitate laboratory activities.However,the current LIMSs do not contain functions to improve the safety of laboratory work,which is the major concern of biosafety laboratories(BSLs).With tons of biosafety information that need to be managed and an increasing number of biosafety-related research projects under way,it is worthy of expanding the current framework of LIMS and building a system that is more suitable for BSL usage.Such a system should carefully trade off between the safety and efficiency of regular lab activities,allowing the laboratory staff to conduct their research as free as possible while ensuring their and the environment’s safety.In order to achieve this goal,the information on the research contents,laboratory personnel,experimental materials and experimental equipment need to be well collected and fully utilized by a centralized system and its databases.
