In this study,the present situation and characteristics of power supply in remote areas are summarized.By studying the cases of power supply projects in remote areas,the experience is analyzed and described,and the applicability of related technologies,such as grid-forming storage and power load management,is studied,including grid-connection technologies,such as grid-forming converters and power load management.On this basis,three power-supply modes were proposed.The application scenarios and advantages of the three modes were compared and analyzed.Based on the local development situation,the temporal sequences of the three schemes are described,and a case study was conducted.The study of the heavy-load power supply mode in remote areas contributes to solving the problem of heavy-load green power consumption in remote areas and promoting the further development of renewable energy. 展开更多

In order to fully utilize the regenerative braking energy of metro trains and stabilize the metro DC traction busbar voltage,a hybrid regenerative braking energy recovery system with a dual-mode power management strategy is proposed.Firstly,the construction of the hybrid regenerative braking energy recovery system is explained.Then,based on the power demand of low-voltage load in metro stations,a dual-mode power management strategy is proposed to allocate the reference power of each system according to the different working conditions,and the control methods of each system are set.Finally,the correctness and effectiveness of the dual-mode strategy are verified through simulation,and the proposed braking energy utilization scheme is compared with other singleform utilization schemes.The results illustrate that the hybrid system with the dual-mode strategy can effectively recycle the regenerative braking energy of metro train and inhibit the busbar voltage fluctuation;the proposed braking energy utilization scheme has certain advantages on energy recovery and DC bus voltage stabilization compared with other single-form schemes;the proposed power management strategy can correctly allocate the reference power of each system with a lower construction cost. 展开更多

A two-phase charge pump circuit using external pumping capacitor increases its pumping current and works out the charge-loss problem by using bulk-potential biasing circuit. A low-power start-up circuit is also proposed to reduce the power consumption of the band-gap reference voltage generator. And the ring oscillator used in the ELVSS power circuit is designed with logic devices by supplying the logic power supply to reduce the layout area. The PMU chip is designed with MagnaChip's 0.25 μ high-voltage process. The driving currents of ELVDD and ELVSS are more than 50 mA when a SPICE simulation is done. 展开更多

Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) is a key block used as the phase/frequency detector in an All-Digital Phase-Locked Loop (ADPLL). Usually, it occupies a large proportion of ADPLL's total power consumption up to about 30% to 40%. In this paper, the detailed power consumption of different components in the TDC is analyzed. A Power Management Block (PMB) is presented for the TDC to reduce its power consumption. A 24-bits TDC core with the proposed PMB is implemented in HJTC 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Simulation results show that up to 84% power reduction is achieved using our proposed technique. 展开更多

The current research of vehicle electrical power supply system mainly focuses on electric vehicles(EV) and hybrid electric vehicles(HEV).The vehicle electrical power supply system used in traditional fuel vehicles is rather simple and imperfect;electrical/electronic devices(EEDs) applied in vehicles are usually directly connected with the vehicle's battery.With increasing numbers of EEDs being applied in traditional fuel vehicles,vehicle electrical power supply systems should be optimized and improved so that they can work more safely and more effectively.In this paper,a new vehicle electrical power supply system for traditional fuel vehicles,which accounts for all electrical/electronic devices and complex work conditions,is proposed based on a smart electrical/electronic device(SEED) system.Working as an independent intelligent electrical power supply network,the proposed system is isolated from the electrical control module and communication network,and access to the vehicle system is made through a bus interface.This results in a clean controller power supply with no electromagnetic interference.A new practical battery state of charge(So C) estimation method is also proposed to achieve more accurate So C estimation for lead-acid batteries in traditional fuel vehicles so that the intelligent power system can monitor the status of the battery for an over-current state in each power channel.Optimized protection methods are also used to ensure power supply safety.Experiments and tests on a traditional fuel vehicle are performed,and the results reveal that the battery So C is calculated quickly and sufficiently accurately for battery over-discharge protection.Over-current protection is achieved,and the entire vehicle's power utilization is optimized.For traditional fuel vehicles,the proposed vehicle electrical power supply system is comprehensive and has a unified system architecture,enhancing system reliability and security. 展开更多

This research analyses the operation of a solar PV powered electric vehicle charging station with energy storage, that has been developed and demonstrated at the University of California--Davis, West Village, the largest planned zero-energy consumption community in the U.S. The intelligent energy management approach introduces solar PV electrical energy forecasting and EV (electric vehicle) charging demand projection to optimize the SOC (state of charge) of the buffer battery. The charging station has been operated continuously and routinely used by several EV users for a year. The actual operation shows that, a workplace charging station equipped with a buffer battery and with intelligent energy management can lower and reduce the station's peak power demand, and reduce the energy exchange with the utility grid by a factor of 2. The battery recharging power demand was shifted away from the on-peak time periods to the off-peak time periods, which will benefit the charging station owner from less energy use during peak periods when time-of-use rates are higher. The standard cell voltage deviation of the 220 cells was calculated to analyse the battery cell consistency during the resting, charging and discharging periods. The analysis shows that, the 220 50Ah cells show excellent voltage consistency with voltage deviation of less than 0.005 V within the battery SOC of 20%-80%. The voltage deviation doubles when the battery SOC reaches 90%. The comparison of cell voltage deviation at the beginning and after one year operation indicates that, the battery shows perfect cell voltage consistency and there is no obvious consistency deterioration during the battery resting, charging and discharging periods. 展开更多

Power consumption is one of the top of mind issues in cloud, because the usage of cloud storage by the individuals or organization grows rapidly. Developing an efficient power management processor architecture has gained considerable attention. However, the conventional power management mechanism fails to consider task scheduling policies. Therefore, this work presents a novel energy aware framework for power management. The proposed system leads to the development of Inclusive Power-Cognizant Processor Controller (IPCPC) for efficient power utilization. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, simulation experiments inputting random tasks as well as tasks collected from Google Trace Logs were conducted to validate the supremacy of IPCPC. The research based on Real world Google Trace Logs gives results that proposed framework leads to less than 9% of total power consumption per task of server which proves reduction in the overall power needed. 展开更多

Increasing the life span and efficiency of Multiprocessor System on Chip(MPSoC)by reducing power and energy utilization has become a critical chip design challenge for multiprocessor systems.With the advancement of technology,the performance management of central processing unit(CPU)is changing.Power densities and thermal effects are quickly increasing in multi-core embedded technologies due to shrinking of chip size.When energy consumption reaches a threshold that creates a delay in complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)circuits and reduces the speed by 10%–15%because excessive on-chip temperature shortens the chip’s life cycle.In this paper,we address the scheduling&energy utilization problem by introducing and evaluating an optimal energy-aware earliest deadline first scheduling(EA-EDF)based technique formultiprocessor environments with task migration that enhances the performance and efficiency in multiprocessor systemon-chip while lowering energy and power consumption.The selection of core andmigration of tasks prevents the system from reaching itsmaximumenergy utilization while effectively using the dynamic power management(DPM)policy.Increase in the execution of tasks the temperature and utilization factor(u_(i))on-chip increases that dissipate more power.The proposed approach migrates such tasks to the core that produces less heat and consumes less power by distributing the load on other cores to lower the temperature and optimizes the duration of idle and sleep times across multiple CPUs.The performance of the EA-EDF algorithm was evaluated by an extensive set of experiments,where excellent results were reported when compared to other current techniques,the efficacy of the proposed methodology reduces the power and energy consumption by 4.3%–4.7%on a utilization of 6%,36%&46%at 520&624 MHz operating frequency when particularly in comparison to other energy-aware methods for MPSoCs.Tasks are running and accurately scheduled to make an energy-efficient processor by controlling and managing the thermal effects on-chip and optimizing the energy consumption of MPSoCs. 展开更多

Minimizing the energy consumption to increase the life span and performance of multiprocessor system on chip(MPSoC)has become an integral chip design issue for multiprocessor systems.The performance measurement of computational systems is changing with the advancement in technology.Due to shrinking and smaller chip size power densities onchip are increasing rapidly that increasing chip temperature in multi-core embedded technologies.The operating speed of the device decreases when power consumption reaches a threshold that causes a delay in complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS)circuits because high on-chip temperature adversely affects the life span of the chip.In this paper an energy-aware dynamic power management technique based on energy aware earliest deadline first(EA-EDF)scheduling is proposed for improving the performance and reliability by reducing energy and power consumption in the system on chip(SOC).Dynamic power management(DPM)enables MPSOC to reduce power and energy consumption by adopting a suitable core configuration for task migration.Task migration avoids peak temperature values in the multicore system.High utilization factor(ui)on central processing unit(CPU)core consumes more energy and increases the temperature on-chip.Our technique switches the core bymigrating such task to a core that has less temperature and is in a low power state.The proposed EA-EDF scheduling technique migrates load on different cores to attain stability in temperature among multiple cores of the CPU and optimized the duration of the idle and sleep periods to enable the low-temperature core.The effectiveness of the EA-EDF approach reduces the utilization and energy consumption compared to other existing methods and works.The simulation results show the improvement in performance by optimizing 4.8%on u_(i) 9%,16%,23%and 25%at 520 MHz operating frequency as compared to other energy-aware techniques for MPSoCs when the least number of tasks is in running state and can schedule more tasks to make an energy-efficient processor by controlling and managing the energy consumption of MPSoC. 展开更多

More demand-side flexible resources(DFRs)are participating in the frequency regulation of renewable power systems,whose heterogeneous characteristics have a significant impact on the system frequency response.Consequently,selecting suitable DFRs poses a formidable challenge for independent system operators(ISO).In this paper,a reserve allocation methodology for heterogeneous DFRs is proposed to manage the risk of power system frequency.Firstly,a performance curve is developed to describe the cost,capacity,and response speed of DFRs.Moreover,a clustering method for multiple distributed DFRs is conducted to calculate the aggregated performance curves and uncertainty coefficients.Then,the frequency security criterion considering DFRs’performance is constructed,whose linearity makes it can be easily coupled into the system scheduling model and solved.Furthermore,a risk management model for DFRs considering frequency-chance-constraint is proposed to make a trade-off between cost and frequency security.Finally,the model is transformed into mixed integer second-order cone programming(MISOCP)and solved by the commercial solver.The proposed model is validated by the IEEE 30 and IEEE 118 bus systems. 展开更多

The loop gain's expression of the current-mode converter is derived by employing an advanced model of a current-mode control converter. After analyzing the loop gain's expression, which illustrates the method of selecting suitable frequency compensation for the control loop,a novel pole-zero tracking frequency compensation is proposed. Based on theoretical analysis, a DC-DC buck converter with high stability is designed with 0.5μm-CMOS technology. The simulated results reveal that the stability of the converter is independent of the load current and the input voltage. Moreover,the converter provides a full load transient response setting time of less than 5μs and overshoots and undershoots of less than 30mV. 展开更多
