It is concluded upon analysis that there are two main reasons for marine oil spills: (I) The motive for huge economic benefits of oil industry owners and oil shipping agents far surpasses their sense of ecological risks. (II) Marine ecological safety has not become the main concern of national security. Oil spills are disasters because humans spare no efforts to get economic benefits from oil. The present paper draws another conclusion that marine ecological damage caused by oil spills can be roughly divided into two categories: damage to marine resource value (direct value) and damage to marine ecosystem service value (indirect value). Marine oil spills cause damage to marine biological, fishery, seawater, tourism and mineral resources to various extents, which contributes to the lower quality and value of marine resources.展开更多

The evaluation objects of ecological damage include four parts : marine ecosystem services, sea water quality, marine biological resources (plankton, benthos, nekton, etc. ), and beach habitat. The ecological compensation criterion was confn-med as 1.73 million Yuan per year in the short term and 8.09 million Yuan in the long term. Different sophorolipid concentrations were tested on marine microalgae, zooplankton, fish, and bivalve (Mytilus edulis) in laboratory. The result shows that sophorolipid could inhibit the growth of algal species selectively. Among three algae species selected, Platymonas helgolandica var. tsingtaoensis was promoted with increasing sophorolipid concentration; Isochrysis galbana was inhibited seven days later in sophorolipid concentration below 40 mg/L; and Nitzschia closterium f. minutissima was inhibited obviously in only a high sophorolipid concentration over 20 mg/L. Therefore, sophorolipid in a low concentration at 〈20 mg/L could remove certain harmful algae species effectivelywithout harming other non-harmful microalgae. For other animals, sophorolipid could inhibit the growth of ciliate Strombidium sp. by 50% at 20 mg/L sophorolipid concentration after 96 h. The concentration in 96-h LC50 for Calanus sinicus, Neomysis awatschensis, Lateolabrax japonicus, and Paralichthys olivaceus was 15, 150, 60, and 110 mg/L, respectively. The 24 h LC50 value for Arternia salina was 600 mg/L. The relative clearance rate of mussel Mytilus edulis decreased to 80%, 40%, and 20% of the control group after being exposed to 20, 50, and 100 mg/L sophorolipid for 24 h. Therefore, the toxicity for mitigation of harmful algae bloom at previously recommended concentration of 5-20 mg/L sophorolipid is low for most tested organisms in this reaserch.展开更多

The first objective of this research was to determine the relationship between diffused oxygen in water and time with the behavioral and physiological health of Callinectes sapidus (blue crab) and Procambarus clarkii (crawfish). After 24 hours, manual dexterity, or the amount of time it takes for a crustacean to flip itself over increased under hypoxic conditions. Hemolymph was extracted and tested for lactate, glucose, and protein. Crawfish were also exposed to this same procedure. An additional crawfish study comparing Spartina plants to assimilate oxygen for aeration compared to mechanical aeration was conducted. The hypoxic groups for all three studies at the 0.05 level had a significantly greater manual dexterity time and greater amounts of lactate and glucose. The protein was significantly higher in hypoxia-exposed crawfish. Time and aeration affect the health of crustaceans, and plants were shown to effectively provide normoxic oxygen levels at a similar level as mechanical aeration. These studies support the importance of marsh grasses for the coast and crustacean viability.展开更多

文摘We studied the role of sophorolipid in inhibiting harmful algae bloom (HAB). Therefore, the toxicity for mitigation of harmful algae bloom at previously recommended concentration of 5-20 mg/L sophorolipid is low for most tested organisms in this reaserch.
文摘present study is based on the analysis of the data collected in 10 dnas during the periods of 2 surveys (from May 1992 to January 1993 and from August 1993 to May 1994). The results show that the number ofphytoplankton in highly eutrophic waters of the Maluan Bay is low, Only 6-35 spotes from each cruise and 66species in total fain the 2 surveys. The phytoplanha abundanCe is high. The mean cell densities of phytoplanktonfrom the net samples were 21 386x 104 cells/m3 for the first sUrVey and 110 136 x 104 cells/m3 for the second survey, that fm the water Samples was 1 150. 7 cells/cm3. The mean concentration of chlorOPhyll a reachs 6. 67 mg/m3.Both the species diversity (H') and evennes (J) were low, only 0. 78 and 0. 28, restwhvdy. The temporal and spatial fluctuation of the cell denSity of phytoplankton was quite wificant, caused banly by contribution of pennate diatom Nitzschia delicatissima that often abudanily occurred in a ofed waters rich in organic matter and could be takenas an ecologic indicator of highly eutrophic harbour. The axistence of good correlation between the cell density ofNitzschia delicatissima and some environmental variables (e. g. Po43 - P and COD, etc. ), and the heterotrophic tendancy of this species are discussed, too.
文摘In the past 80 years, Louisiana has lost over one million acres in land, affecting plants and crustaceans that live in these environments. These studies support the importance of marsh grasses for the coast and crustacean viability.
文摘As a key factor of marine ecological composition, marine resources play an important role in promoting the development of marine economy. In view of this,in view of a series of problems existing in the process of marine resources development, this paper uses the method of literature review to put forward suggestions on marine resources development and implementation measures of management path,so as to escort the development of marine resources in the new era.

文摘Under the joint influence of high-intensity human activities and cli-mate change, the coastal ecological environment is deteriorating, and the ecologi-cal environment security and the sustainable development of the marine economy are seriously threatened. Therefore,it is of great significance to establish a high-resolution ecological environment operational forecasting system. To meet the run time requirements of the ecological operational forecasting system,a vari-ety of parallel optimization methods were proposed to improve the operation efficiency of the model.First, based on the National Marine Environmental Fore-casting Center’s Lenovo cluster, the ROMS benchmark experiment was expanded to the 4000 Processes scale.A good speedup was obtained by the experiment. The ROMS model was analysed with strong scalability.Second,in the hydrodynamic-ecological simulation experiment of the Bohai Sea-Yellow Sea-East China Sea,by optimizing Vector,InfiniBand, and Parallel I/O,the performance of the model can be improved by 270%while maintaining the same computing resources. That computing resources were more reasonably used lay the foundation for the operational forecast.
文摘Because of the special physico-chemical properties and toxicity of oil in ocean, it causes the acute and chronic toxicity in marine life, through food chain comes into human body, has a serious harm on human's health. This test analysis influence of oil pollution in ocean, provides theoretical guidance of governing.
文摘Large quantities of ballast water discharge from ocean going ships in sea ports of China is one of the important factorswhich cause the spread of aquatic nonindigenous harmful species isolated geographically by waters, the deteriorating environment of the near-shore water area and the frequent outbreaks of red tides. In this paper, the total amount of the ballast water input estimation model for entry ships in Chinese ports was established. The information of foreign trade shipping and the import and export goods released publicly by the State Department of Transportation and the State General Administration of Customs were investigated. And then, the input features and its ecological environment risk of ballast water in China's offshore entry ships from2007to2012were analyzed based on the established total input amounts of ballast water from entry ships to Chinese sea ports together with the ballast water input ratio of the five major port-groups in China. The results show that:the total ballast water input amounts from entry ships of the five major port-groups in China are extremely imbalanced. The most developed Yangtze River Delta in economy has the biggest total ballast water input amounts,103.61million tons in2012.The second is the Circum-Bohai Sea Region(73.66million tons)and the third is the Pearl River Delta(67.24million tons). The total ballast water input amounts of the northwest and the southwest coastal areas are less,only16.57and5.71million tons respectively. The large quantity of entry ships’ballast water discharge has been an enormous threat to ecological environment of our country's sea areas, especially to economically developed regions.
