A matrix eigenvalue method is applied to analyse the thermodynamic stability of two-component interacting fermions. The non-relativistic and ultra-relativistic d = 1, 2, 3 dimensions have been discussed in detail, respectively. The corresponding stability region has been given according to the two-body interaction strength and the particle number density ratio. 展开更多

An improved modal truncation method with arbitrarily high order accuracy is developed for calculating the second- and third-order eigenvalue derivatives and the first- and second-order eigenvector derivatives of an asymmetric and non-defective matrix with repeated eigenvalues. If the different eigenvalues λ1, λ2,……, λs of the matrix satisfy |λ1| ≤... ≤|λr| and |λs| 〈|〈s+1| (s ≤r-l), then associated with any eigenvalue λi (i≤ s), the errors of the eigenvalue and eigenvector derivatives obtained by the qth-order approximate method are proportional to |λi|/λs+1|q+l, where the approximate method only uses the eigenpairs corresponding to λ1, λ2,……,λs A numerical example shows the validity of the approximate method. The numerical example also shows that in order to get the approximate solutions with the same order accuracy, a higher order method should be used for higher order eigenvalue and eigenvector derivatives. 展开更多

A method to compute the numerical derivative of eigenvalues of parameterized crystal field Hamiltonian matrix is given, based on the numerical derivatives the general iteration methods such as Levenberg-Marquardt, Newton method, and so on, can be used to solve crystal field parameters by fitting to experimental energy levels. With the numerical eigenvalue derivative, a detailed iteration algorithm to compute crystal field parameters by fitting experimental energy levels has also been described. This method is used to compute the crystal parameters of Yb^3+ in Sc2O3 crystal, which is prepared by a co-precipitation method and whose structure was refined by Rietveld method. By fitting on the parameters of a simple overlap model of crystal field, the results show that the new method can fit the crystal field energy splitting with fast convergence and good stability. 展开更多

A general, fast, and effective approach is developed for numerical calculation of kinetic plasma linear dispersion relations. The plasma dispersion function is approximated by J-pole expansion.Subsequently, the dispersion relation is transformed to a standard matrix eigenvalue problem of an equivalent linear system.Numerical solutions for the least damped or fastest growing modes using an 8-pole expansion are generally accurate;more strongly damped modes are less accurate, but are less likely to be of physical interest. In contrast to conventional approaches, such as Newton's iterative method, this approach can give either all the solutions in the system or a few solutions around the initial guess. It is also free from convergence problems. The approach is demonstrated for electrostatic dispersion equations with one-dimensional and twodimensional wavevectors, and for electromagnetic kinetic magnetized plasma dispersion relation for bi-Maxwellian distribution with relative parallel velocity flows between species. 展开更多

Especially we use QL(QR) method to find eigenvalues of a symmetric tridiagonal matrix. In this case it only costs O(n2) flops, to find all eigenvalues. So it is one of the most efficient method for symmetric tridiagonal matrices. Many experts have researched it. Even the method is mature, it still has many problems need to be researched. We put forward five problems here. They are: (1) Convergence and convergence rate; (2) The convergence of diagonal elements; (3) Shift designed to produce the eigenvalues in monotone order; (4) QL algorithm with multi-shift; (5) Error bound. We intoduce our works on these problems, some of them were published and some are new. 展开更多

To simplify the process for identifying 12 types of symmetric variables in Boolean functions, we propose a new symmetry detection algorithm based on minterm expansion or the truth table. First, the order eigenvalue matrix based on a truth table is defined according to the symmetry definition of a logic variable. By analyzing the constraint conditions of the order eigenvalue matrix for 12 types of symmetric variables, an algorithm is proposed for identifying symmetric variables of the Boolean function. This algorithm can be applied to identify the symmetric variables of Boolean functions with or without don't-care terms. The proposed method avoids the restriction by the number of logic variables of the graphical method, spectral coefficient methods, and AND-XOR expansion coefficient methods, and solves the problem of completeness in the fast computation method. The algorithm has been implemented in C language and tested on MCNC91 benchmarks. The application results show that, compared with the traditional methods, the new algorithm is an optimal detection method in terms of the applicability of the number of logic variables, the Boolean function including don't-care terms, detection type, and complexity of the identification process. 展开更多
