Teaching Reform and Practice of Software Engineering Graduate Students by Implanting Scientific Research Literacy into Classroom Teaching Content

How to cultivate and improve graduate students’innovation and practical abilities in software engineering through the curriculum and teaching mode reform is an important issue.In this paper,a research literacy-driven teaching mode is proposed.It assists in the reform of the curriculum system.Then,a curriculum system construction framework is proposed,which involves the integration of research literacy into classroom teaching content.It assists in the cultivation of research abilities of graduate students in software engineering.The effectiveness of the curriculum reform is demonstrated through questionnaire surveys and research outcomes of the project team.The results show that the methods explored in this paper can serve as valuable references for future course design and teaching practice in computer-related courses for graduates.

Current situation and influencing factors of classroom situationdeviant behavior of undergraduate nursing students in colleges oftraditional Chinese medicine

Objective: To investigate the current situation and influencing factors of classroom situation deviant behavior ofundergraduate nursing students in colleges of traditional Chinese medicine. Methods: Three hundred andeighty-two undergraduate nursing students in Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were investigatedby general situation questionnaire, Classroom Situation Deviation Behavior questionnaire, Utrecht WorkEngagement Scale-Student and Mobile phone addiction index scale. Results: The scores of the ClassroomSituation Deviation Behavior questionnaire of nursing students were (46.04 ± 14.94). The results of multiple linearregression analysis showed that gender, academic ranking, family income (RMB/month), learning involvement andmobile phone dependence were the influencing factors, accounting for 32.9% of the total variation. Conclusion:The classroom situation deviant behavior of undergraduate nursing students in colleges of traditional Chinesemedicine is moderately upper-level. It is suggested that the management departments of colleges should strictlyenforce the classroom management system, improve the teaching level of teachers, guide students to develop goodlearning habits, and constantly stimulate students' learning enthusiasm in order to reduce the occurrence ofclassroom situation deviation behavior.

Graduate students as preceptors: Effects on clinical teaching outcomes of medical nursing

Purpose:To explore the feasibility of using graduate students as preceptors in the clinical education of medical nursing students.Methods:Five second-year graduate nursing students were recruited to participate in the clinical teaching of medical nursing for 38 undergraduates in the first semester of the 2010 e2011 academic year,divided into two groups.The first group first received clinical teaching in caring for respiratory diseases from graduate preceptors for six weeks followed by clinical teaching in caring for circulatory diseases from nurse preceptors for six weeks.The second group received clinical teaching in the reverse order,from the nurse preceptors followed by the graduate student preceptors.Following training,all students were examined with a written test and scores were compared.In addition,review meetings were held to evaluate the teaching outcomes.Results:No significant differences in test scores were observed between the two teaching groups.Undergraduate student feedback indicated that the training provided by the graduate students was satisfactory,and the medical nursing course leader was satisfied with the teaching outcome with a few exceptions.Conclusion:These data indicate that graduate students are capable of training undergraduates in medical nursing,although some areas can be improved.

Graduate Students and Companies Web Based E-Recruitment System

Computer systems help to improve human life in all sectors. One of the most important sectors that the recent systems support is the recruitment sector. Recruiters used to waste their valuable time, effort and money to reach the best candidates. The traditional recruitment process fulfills neither the recruiter needs nor the job seeker ambitions. Nowadays, companies use their website or social media to announce job vacancy whereas job seekers usually use job portal to market their abilities and skills. All these can be put on one recruitment website to improve the process for both parties. The proposed system will build an online E-recruitment system for recruiters (companies) and job seekers that will help them to interact with each other and to match their expectations. This system will be developed using Hyper Text pre-processor (PHP), Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), JQ, MySQL, and XMMAP. Moreover, the recent human computer interaction (HCI) concepts will apply to provide good user experience through simple, clear, and modern interfaces. Our E-recruitment system is directed to all graduated students from university in all programs. The system allows the recruiters (companies) to post announcement for job vacancy and to search for job seeker or about another company, and to view the applied job. For the job seeker it allows graduate student to search for job, apply for the available opportunities, upload CV, and setup his own profile. Finally, this study will help to improve the experience and break the difficulties that present in the recruitment process as well as support the human resource (HR) department in companies and other sectors. Finally, the results show the average score of 4.72 out of 5, indicating that the users are feeling enjoyable while using the application features and the system is easy to use.

Addressing Burnout: A Narrative Medicine Curriculum for Millennial Medical Students

Medical school is a stressful time for physicians in training and correlates with an increase in rates of burnout.In addition to typical stressors,millennial students in particular may face additional challenges as studies suggest they tend to learn differently than their older counterparts.Teaching medical students’techniques to address burnout,and developing curriculum that addresses social media in medicine,may help students build skills to mitigate burnout during their future careers.Medical educators at the Stritch School of Medicine created a narrative medicine elective for students in their clinical years with this philosophy in mind.Evaluation of the curriculum from pre-and post-elective surveys showed that the elective was effective in addressing symptoms of burnout,specifically emotional exhaustion and depersonalization,and improved student comfort with social media as a medical professional.

Graduate student recruitment publicity is a very important link in graduate student recruitment,the quality of students directly affects the quality of graduate education.Taking Harbin Institute of Technology(Weihai)as the research object,this paper analyzes the internal and external factors affecting the improvement of graduate student quality in the branch campus,and carries out the corresponding countermeasures,puts forward the propaganda strategy of all-round research and recruitment,and effectively improves the quality of graduate student in the branch campus.

Importance of Primary Health Care in Medicine: Simultaneous Analysis of Two Colleges, under the Vision of Teachers and Students

Introduction: The involvement of undergraduate student at the beginning of their training in activities based on Primary Health Care (PHC), provides preventive and health promoting actions, and ensures the evaluation of the vulnerability of communities and people. Objectives: To analyze the opinion of students and teachers of two medicine higher education institutions on the relevance of Primary Health Care in this course. METHODS: Students and teachers should be effectively enrolled in order for the study to be conducted, being chosen in a random manner and without interferences on the part of the researchers so that the work was as reliable as possible. A cross-sectional study was conducted with interviews structured in questionnaires about what they thought about PHC. To some students and teachers of the medical course of Valen?a and Grande Rio University (UNIGRANRIO). Before receiving the questionnaire, all interviewed signed a Free and Informed Consent Term, which included the objectives and methodology of the work. Results: 310 students and 51 teachers participated in the study, where 91.43% of the students and 100% of the teachers affirmed that primary care plays a fundamental role in medical education. 94.86% of students and 97.91% of teachers, claimed that the discipline allows a greater contact between undergraduates and community. When questioned about the encouragement that teachers give to students to pursue a career in PHC, 57.87% of the students and 70.83% of the professors said they lacked in such a stimulus. Conclusion: PHC is still very neglected by governmental policies, educational institutions and by the own teachers, that often, turn they attention only to tertiary medicine and, as a consequence, a discouragement of this area occur. Therefore, a higher PHC value is necessary, allowing a more humane look at the patient, valuing their feelings, anguishes and their pathological framework.

Design and Validity Study on Oral English Assessment in Graduate Students

To explore the adoption of formative assessment in oral English test Validity study of oral test scores was performed in PhD candidates of 2011.Through linear relevance analysis,it is concluded that the relevance coefficient between oral score and overall score is 0.751 (P <0.001),the relevance coefficient between oral score and listening score is 0.530 (P <0.001),and the results indicate overall score and listening score have a positive relevancy with oral score.The result showed a positive correlation of oral test scores with written examination scores.Questionnaires modeled with the 5-point Likert Scale revealed a moderate supportive attitude of students on this formative assessment.The results are:80.1% of students indicated they feel satisfied and very satisfied with such oral English evaluation form,77.9% of students consider this oral score reflects their real oral English proficiency.This indicates that most students feel satisfied about the form and score in this oral exam.Through effective combination between formative evaluation method and summative evaluation method,it can effectively coordinate the relation between teaching and learning in oral English teaching practice,stimulate students'study initiative,and play a positive role in improving students'overall oral English proficiency.

How to lead foreign students into Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is becoming much more international and widely accepted. More and more foreign students come to China's Mainland to study this great yet mysterious discipline. However, the current teaching methods are far from satisfaction. This paper analyzes some existing problems and contradictions present in the teaching practices and suggests some measures for improvement.

Male and Female Attitude Toward Research Course Syllabus and the Relationship Between Work Setting Preference and Usefulness Rating of a Research Course Among Chinese Graduate Students

The purpose of this study is to(a)examine graduate students to see whether the syllabus of a research course is more important to male or female students and(b)determine whether graduate students who prefer educational work settings rate the usefulness of a research course higher than those who prefer non-educational work settings.Data were collected from a survey that was distributed to the subjects.These subjects included 57 graduate students enrolled in four classes of the same research course and all of them responded.The findings indicated that female graduate students considered the syllabus of this research course more important than the male graduate students did(p<0.5).The study also found that there was not a significant difference(p>0.05)between graduate students who prefer to work in the educational settings and those who prefer non-educational work settings rating the usefulness of a research course.

Entrepreneurial Skills and Innovative Behavior as Determinants on the Entrepreneurial Performance of Business Graduate Students

This study addressed the causal association of entrepreneurial performance as predicted by entrepreneurial skills and innovative behavior.Respondents of this research comprised 205 business graduate students from colleges and universities in SOCSARGEN Region in the Philippines.In a quantitative design and through purposive sampling,survey questionnaires were adopted,validated,and utilized.The researcher used the mean and multiple regression as tools in analyzing the data.Findings revealed that business graduate students’entrepreneurial skills,innovative behavior,and entrepreneurial performance were high.This means that business graduate students possessed entrepreneurial skills,innovative behavior was evident,and a very satisfactory entrepreneurial performance.On the individual capacity,entrepreneurial skills did not significantly influence business performance while innovative behavior significantly influenced entrepreneurial performance.

A Qualitative Study on Professional Identity of EFL Graduate Students

To date, research studies on students’professional identities have primarily focused on teacher education or nursing program, with little attention paid to language learners’ professional identities in the study. This study aims to explore the characteristics of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) graduate students’professional identities as well as the possible factors influencinggraduate students’ professional identities. A case study of six English as a Foreign Language (EFL) graduate students was conducted, and qualitative interviews were carried out to make sense students’ characteristics and factors influencing their professionalidentities. The findings indicated that the overall condition of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) graduate students’ professionalidentities was generally higher, and revealed a string of factors influencing their professional identities. This study has implicationfor English as a Foreign Language (EFL) graduate students’ professional development, shedding light on how English as a ForeignLanguage (EFL) graduate students’professional identities can be facilitated.

Innovative Study on Graduate Student Recruitment Work in Provincial Agricultural Research Institutions

As reserve talents for research,graduate students of scientific research institutions directly participate in the implementation process of various scientific research projects,which greatly promotes the innovation work of scientific research institutions. As an essential part of the national agricultural scientific and technological innovation system,provincial agricultural research institutions urgently need to maintain or expand the team of graduate students. Under the current graduate student recruitment system,provincial agricultural research institutions need to solve the problem of how to innovate on the recruitment methods,continuously expand the recruitment scale,and attract more outstanding graduate students to join the scientific and technological innovation team. This paper firstly introduced the institutional changes and recruitment status of graduate students in agricultural research institutions,then analyzed the problems faced by provincial agricultural research institutions in recruiting graduate students. Finally,combining the work practice of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences,it came up with pertinent recommendations,to provide references for graduate student recruitment of provincial agricultural research institutions.

Randomized control study in the influence of different training methods of Tai Chi on Chinese medicine constitution of international students with depression or depression tendency

目的：探讨太极拳不同训练方式对留学生抑郁或抑郁倾向的影响.方法：38名留学生被随机分为太极拳单纯动作练习组（简称单纯动作组）和太极拳动作练习配合呼吸吐纳组（简称呼吸吐纳组）,并比较两组实验前后中医体质的均分变化.结果：与训练前相比,38名留学生中偏颇体质的平均得分明显下降（P〈0.05）.与训练前相比,呼吸吐纳组中气虚型、阳虚型、痰湿型、气滞型的偏颇体质的平均得分显著降低（P〈0.05）.单纯动作组的阳虚型、血瘀型、气滞型的偏颇体质的平均得分也显著下降（P〈0.05）.另外,气虚型、阳虚型、阴虚型、痰湿型、气滞型的偏颇体质的平均得分均显著低于单纯运动组中这些体质的得分,提示太极拳动作练习配合呼吸吐纳的方法优于太极拳单纯动作练习（P〈0.01）.结论：与呼吸吐纳法结合,太极拳动作练习对改善与抑郁或抑郁倾向相关的偏颇体质有更好的效果.

Depression in military medicine cadets: a cross-sectional study

Background: Military medicine cadets undergo strenuous military training alongside demanding medical studies. This stressful and complex educational environment can lead to the emergence of depressive symptoms. We investigated the prevalence of depressive symptoms in a cohort of military medicine cadets.Methods: We conducted a descriptive questionnaire-based cross-sectional study among Greek military medicine cadets in the undergraduate program of the Hellenic Military School of Combat Support Officers. The Greek translation of the Zung self-rating depression scale questionnaire was used to screen for the presence of depressive symptoms. In addition, demographic, academic and dietary information was collected. The Shapiro-Wilk test of normality, Pearson correlation test, Chi-square test, t-test and Mann Whitney U test were employed for statistical analysis.Results: We enrolled 55 female and 91 male military medicine cadets with a mean age of 19.84 years(SD=0.99). The mean Zung crude score was 43.32(SD=4.55): 42.8(SD=4.43) for female cadets and 43.64(SD=4.6) for male cadets. Cadets were further subdivided into low and high risk groups for the presence of depressive symptoms. We identified 57(39%) cadets with a total Zung crude score of 45 or above: 21 females and 36 males. Statistical analysis did not reveal any significant differences between the two groups based on gender, year of training, academic performance, alcohol consumption, smoking status, vitamin supplementation, dietary habits or BMI.Conclusion: We report a high prevalence of depressive symptoms in a cohort of military medicine cadets that underscores the need for effective screening and appropriate and timely interventions. We did not identify any related risk factors. Military medicine cadets are exposed to a challenging military and medical training environment, and thus represent a group at risk for development of depression.

The importance of different forms of prevention in travel medicine

The Asia-Pacific region is becoming an increasingly popular destination for holidaymakers and business travelers.Despite the seductive tourist attractions and the growing financial importance of the region,infectious diseases have unfortunately repeatedly caused major epidemics in the region.The area includes various geographical situations from high mountains to the subtropical and monsoon forests,dry deserts and seashore.The travel medicine specialist’s task is to decrease the various risk of travel to the region.Infectious diseases,extreme temperatures and marine hazards could be almost entirely prevented by primary prevention forms of travel medicine such as vaccination,chemoprophylaxis and pretravel advice.There are some high-risk groups(e.g.,elderly people,backpackers,families with children,adventure travelers) among the growing number of tourists.Obviously,the increased numbers of such travelers result in a rising incidence of travelrelated illnesses and accidents.For those groups,primary prevention sometimes is not enough. The pretravel medical check up,specialists’ consultations and treatment,as forms of secondary prevention,are also essential in travel medicine.Patients who suffer from serious illnesses or who have accidents must often be repatriated."State-of-the-art repatriation",as a special form of tertiary prevention of travel medicine will play an important role in the future and is direcdy related to effective travel insurance,which could help in providing good medical care to the patients even far from their home.The levels,methods and importance of prevention in travel medicine are discussed in this article.
