One channel is multi-port extruded with the hydraulic diameter of 0.63 mm,and the other one is rectangular with offset fins and a hydraulic diameter of 1.28 mm. The experiments are performed with a mass flow rate between 68 and 630 kg/(m^2·s),a heat flux between 9 and 64 kW/m^2,and a saturation pressure between 0.24 and 0.63 MPa,under the constant heat flux heating mode. It is found that the effect of mass flow rate on boiling heat transfer is related to heat flux, and that with the increase of heat flux, the effect can only be efficient in higher vapor quality region. The effects of heat flux and saturation pressure on boiling heat transfer are related to a threshold vapor quality, and the value will gradually decrease with the increase of heat flux or saturation pressure. Based on these analyses,a new correlation is proposed to predict the boiling heat transfer coefficient of refrigerant R134 a in the mini-channels under the experimental conditions.展开更多

The simulated results were compared with experimental data from low load trials for a 400 kW inductor. The results, such as power factor and Joule heating power, show reasonable correlation with experimental data, and Joule heating rate reaches the maximum at the corners and the minimum at the centre of the cross-section area. With increasing relative permeability of iron core, length of coils, current frequency and resistivity of metal melt, the power factor and Joule heating power change. It is concluded that current frequency, the resistivity and length of the coil play a critical role in determining the power factor and Joule heating power, whereas relative permeability of the magnetic core shows no significant influence on them.展开更多

The investigation was examined for Reynolds numbers (Re) ranging from 5000 to 15,000, by using air as testing fluid. Effects of the multiple channel number (N = 2, 3, and 4), clearance ratio (CR = 0.0, 0.025, 0.05, and 0.075) on heat transfer enhancement and flow friction were examined. The numerical results indicate that the tubes with loose-fit multiple channel twisted tapes perform higher heat transfer rates than the plain tube. The enhanced heat transfer rate is escorted with larger pressure drop. Both heat transfer and pressure drop increase with increasing multiple channel number (N) and decreasing clearance ratio (CR). Heat transfer augmented by the loose-fit multiple channel twisted tape with N = 4 is higher than those enhanced by the ones with N = 2 and 3 by around 9.5-17.8% and 5.8-7.8%, respectively. In addition, the loose-fit multiple channel twisted tapes with clearance ratio of 0.025, 0.05, and 0.075 give lower heat transfer rates than the one with CR = 0.0 by around 8.4%, 17.5%, and 28.8%, respectively.展开更多

The governing two-dimensional equations are simplified under the assumption of long wavelength approximation. The simplified equations are solved for the stream function, temperature, and axial pressure gradient by using a regular perturbation method. The expression for pressure rise is computed numerically. The profiles of velocity, pressure gradient, temperature, heat transfer coefficient and stream function are sketched and interpreted for various embedded parameters and also the behavior of stream function for various wave forms is discussed through graphs. It is observed that the peristaltic velocity increases from porous medium to non-porous medium, the magnetic effects have increasing effect on the temperature, and the size of the trapped bolus decreases with the increasing of magnetic effects while the trend is reversed with the increasing of Darcy number. Moreover, limiting solutions of our problem are in close agreement with the corresponding results of the Newtonian fluid model.展开更多

It was found that during operating there was mixed flow consisting of plug flow and annular flow in channels of oscillating heat pipe at steady-state. There was an equilibrium position for working fluid of condenser during oscillating, and periodic oscillations occurred up and down in the vicinity of equilibrium position. With heat input increasing, equilibrium position rose slowly as a result of vapor pressure of evaporation.Evaporation temperature oscillating amplitude possessed a trend of small-large-small and frequency trend was of small-large during steady-state. It may be generally concluded that temperature, whether evaporator or condenser, fluctuated sharply or rose continuously when oscillating heat pipe coming to dry burning state. Simultaneously, it was found that temperature difference of cooling water possibly dropped with heat input rising during dry burning state. Thermal resistance of No. 2 with acetone was lower than that of No. 1 during experiments, but No. 2 achieving heat transfer limit was earlier than No. 1. However, with ethanol, thermal resistance of No. 1 and No. 2 were similar with the heating input less than 110-120 W and filling ratios of 50% and 70%. And with filling ratio of 85%, heating transfer performance of No. 2 was better compared to No. 1 during all the experiments.展开更多

The numerical results appeared in good agreement with previous experimental data under the same operating conditions. The results indicated that large size and positive angle of perforation changed the fluid flow pattern and the local Nusselt-number distribution fundamentally. It is noteworthy that a more uniform distribution of Nusselt-number was achieved by increasing the diameter of perforation.展开更多

The expansion ratio and aspect ratio of the channel are 2.0 and 8.0, respectively. Reynolds number of the flow is 200 and it is over the critical Reynolds number. Over the value, the flow in the symmetric channel becomes to deflect to one side of the walls. Transient response characteristics of the flow and heat transfer in the channel with the fully developed flow imposed one cycle of a pulsating fluctuation at the inlet are investigated. Vortex structure generated in the channel is visualized with a helicity isosurface. In the case of the fluctuation of Strouhal number 0.05, small streamwise vortices appear near the side walls and slightly upstream of the reattachment region of the short separation bubble. The vortices elongate and shed some vortices. These vortices attract some pairs of the streamwise vortices near the reattachment region quickly and they drift downstream along the side walls. They are inclined from the walls and are decaying gradually. It is clarified that high Nusselt number area appears and shifts downstream in accordance with the root of the vortices.展开更多

Two types of channels have been used, one has a rectangular cross section area of 5 × 18 mm2 and the other is triangular with dimension of 5 × 9 mm2. Four channels of each configuration have been etched on copper block of 40 mm width,30 mm height, and 200 mm length. The measurements were performed in steady state with air flow rates of 0.002 - 0.005 m3/s, heating powers of 80 - 200 W and channel base temperatures of 48°C, 51°C, 55°C and 60°C. The results showed that the heat transfer to air stream is increased with increasing both of air mass flow rate and channel base temperature. The rectangular channels have better thermal performance than trian- gular ones at the same conditions. Analytical fin approach of 1-D and 2-D model were used to predict the heat transfer rate and outlet air temperature from channels heat sink. Theoretical results have been compared with experimental data. The predicted values for outlet air temperatures using the two models agree well with a deviation less than ±10%. But for the heat transfer data, the deviation is about +30% to –60% for 1-D model, and –5% to –80% for 2-D model. The global Nusselt number of the present experimental data is empirically correlated as with accuracy of ±20% for and compared with other literature correlations.展开更多

It is concluded that current frequency, the resistivity and length of the coil play a critical role in determining the power factor and Joule heating power, whereas relative permeability of the magnetic core shows no significant influence on them.
文摘Heat transfer and flow behaviors in three-dimensional circular tubes with loose-fit multiple channel twisted tapes were numerically studied. In addition, the loose-fit multiple channel twisted tapes with clearance ratio of 0.025, 0.05, and 0.075 give lower heat transfer rates than the one with CR = 0.0 by around 8.4%, 17.5%, and 28.8%, respectively.
文摘The intention of this investigation is to study the effects of heat transfer and inclined magnetic field on the peristaltic flow of Williamson fluid in an asymmetric channel through porous medium. Moreover, limiting solutions of our problem are in close agreement with the corresponding results of the Newtonian fluid model.

文摘Using ethanol or acetone as the working fluid, visualization of oscillations in steady state was observed visually by high-speed cameras, and temperature oscillating and heat transfer characteristics of closed-loop plate oscillating heat pipe with parallel channels(POHP-PC) were experimentally investigated by varying liquid filled ratios(50%, 70%, 85%), section scales(1 mm×1 mm and 1 mm×1.5 mm), inclination angles, working fluids and heating inputs. 1 during all the experiments.
文摘This study provided a new configuration of the 180-deg round turned channel with a perforated divider, as well as numerically investigated the effect of perforations, including the diameter of perforation and the angel of perforation, on the fluid flow and heat transfer. The numerical results appeared in good agreement with previous experimental data under the same operating conditions. The results indicated that large size and positive angle of perforation changed the fluid flow pattern and the local Nusselt-number distribution fundamentally. It is noteworthy that a more uniform distribution of Nusselt-number was achieved by increasing the diameter of perforation.
文摘Numerical results of three-dimensional separated flow and heat transfer in an enlarged rectangular channel are presented in this paper. It is clarified that high Nusselt number area appears and shifts downstream in accordance with the root of the vortices.

文摘For heat transfer enhancement in heat exchangers, different types of channels are often tested. The performance of heat exchangers can be made better by considering geometry composed of sinusoidally curved walls. This research studies the modeling and simulation of airflow through a 2πunits long sinusoidally curved wavy channel. For the purpose,two-dimensional Navier Stokes equations along with heat equations are under consideration. To simulate the fluid flow problem, the finite element-based software COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4 is used. The parametric study for Reynolds number from Re=100 to Re=1000 and the period of vibration P from 0 to 5 are observed. The surface plots, streamline patterns, contours, and graphs are presented for the velocity field magnitude, temperature, and pressure against the Reynolds number as well as period of vibration. The results are compared with various literature. It is found that due to the creation of periodic contraction regions the velocity magnitude of the flow is continuously increasing with the increase of Reynolds number,on the contrary the pressure is decreasing from inlet to outlet of the channel. Also,a periodic variation in the pressure distribution along the vibrating boundaries has been found with an average increase of 500%for the high Reynolds number.A novel work was done by expressing the rotation rate per second in terms of local Reynolds number for the recirculating regions found due to the periodic oscillation of the boundaries. The average temperature near the outlet where a fixed temperature is imposed initially is decreasing with an increase in Reynolds number. The convection process is weakened due to an increase of periodic vibration of boundaries.
文摘Heat transfer experiments were conducted to investigate the thermal performance of air cooling through mini-channel heat sink with various configurations. The global Nusselt number of the present experimental data is empirically correlated as with accuracy of ±20% for and compared with other literature correlations.
