Microporous membranes of low-high density polyethylene and their blends were prepared bythermally-induced phase separation of polymer/long-aliphatic chain alcohol (diluent) mixtures.The microstructures of this particular membrane, which depends on the diluent properties,polymer concentration and cooling rate, were observed by scanning electron microscopy.'Beehive-type,'leafy-like, and lacy porous structure morphologies can be formed,depending onthe blend composition and phase separation conditions, which were discussed by the polymer anddiluent crystallization processes. 展开更多

Membrane separation technology has been taken up for use in diverse applications such as water treatment,pharmaceutical,petroleum,and energy-related industries.Compared with the design of membrane materials,the innovation of membrane preparation technique is more urgent for the development of membrane separation technology,because it not only affects physicochemical properties and separation performance of the fabricated membranes,but also determines their potential in industrialized application.Among the various membrane preparation methods,spray technique has recently gained increasing attention because of its low cost,rapidity,scalability,minimum of environmental burden,and viability for nearly unlimited range of materials.In this Review article,we summarized and discussed the recent developments in separation membranes using the spray technique,including the fundamentals,important features and applications.The present challenges and future considerations have been touched to provide inspired insights for developing the sprayed separation membranes. 展开更多

Catalytic CO_(2)conversion has witnessed a dynamic growth in recent decades.Various materials have been applied to reduce CO_(2)into fuels and value-added chemicals.Normally,the powder-based catalysts cannot be directly utilized for CO_(2)conversion.Much attention was paid to the study of catalytic membranes in order to overcome this issue,since it is convenient for catalytic membranes to be employed in devices for practical applications.In this review,the recent research development of porous catalytic membranes for CO_(2)conversion is summarized.The preparations of representative porous catalytic membranes and their CO_(2)conversion methods,including electrocatalysis,photocatalysis,photoelectrocatalysis,thermalcatalysis and biocatalysis,are discussed in detail.This review is expected to provide deep understanding on the utilization of porous catalytic membranes for CO_(2)conversion. 展开更多

This investigation describes the one step preparation of potassium carbonate by electrolysis of potas-sium chloride solution in electrolyzers with various Nation membranes.Potassium bicarbonate solution wasfed to the cathode compartment,where it was converted into carbonate by reaction with the hydroxideformed at cathode.Because of the low OH^- concentration in the cathode compartment,the back migrationof OH^- through the membrane was almost negligible,resulting in a higher current efficiency,say 90% or more.In this study,electroconductivity,mass transfer,current efficiency and cell voltage were measured.Thefeasibility of the process was discussed and the optimal conditions examined. 展开更多
