A fast-charging policy is widely employed to alleviate the inconvenience caused by the extended charging time of electric vehicles. However, fast charging exacerbates battery degradation and shortens battery lifespan. In addition, there is still a lack of tailored health estimations for fast-charging batteries;most existing methods are applicable at lower charging rates. This paper proposes a novel method for estimating the health of lithium-ion batteries, which is tailored for multi-stage constant current-constant voltage fast-charging policies. Initially, short charging segments are extracted by monitoring current switches, followed by deriving voltage sequences using interpolation techniques. Subsequently, a graph generation layer is used to transform the voltage sequence into graphical data. Furthermore, the integration of a graph convolution network with a long short-term memory network enables the extraction of information related to inter-node message transmission, capturing the key local and temporal features during the battery degradation process. Finally, this method is confirmed by utilizing aging data from 185 cells and 81 distinct fast-charging policies. The 4-minute charging duration achieves a balance between high accuracy in estimating battery state of health and low data requirements, with mean absolute errors and root mean square errors of 0.34% and 0.66%, respectively. 展开更多

Stress changes due to changes in fluid pressure and temperature in a faulted formation may lead to the opening/shearing of the fault. This can be due to subsurface(geo)engineering activities such as fluid injections and geologic disposal of nuclear waste.Such activities are expected to rise in the future making it necessary to assess their short-and long-term safety. Here,a new machine learning(ML)approach to model pore pressure and fault displacements in response to high-pressure fluid injection cycles is developed. The focus is on fault behavior near the injection borehole. To capture the temporal dependencies in the data, long short-term memory(LSTM)networks are utilized. To prevent error accumulation within the forecast window, four critical measures to train a robust LSTM model for predicting fault response are highlighted:(i)setting an appropriate value of LSTM lag,(ii)calibrating the LSTM cell dimension,(iii)learning rate reduction during weight optimization, and(iv)not adopting an independent injection cycle as a validation set.Several numerical experiments were conducted, which demonstrated that the ML model can capture peaks in pressure and associated fault displacement that accompany an increase in fluid injection. The model also captured the decay in pressure and displacement during the injection shut-in period.Further, the ability of an ML model to highlight key changes in fault hydromechanical activation processes was investigated, which shows that ML can be used to monitor risk of fault activation and leakage during high pressure fluid injections. 展开更多

There are two technical challenges in predicting slope deformation. The first one is the random displacement, which could not be decomposed and predicted by numerically resolving the observed accumulated displacement and time series of a landslide. The second one is the dynamic evolution of a landslide, which could not be feasibly simulated simply by traditional prediction models. In this paper,a dynamic model of displacement prediction is introduced for composite landslides based on a combination of empirical mode decomposition with soft screening stop criteria(SSSC-EMD)and deep bidirectional long short-term memory(DBi-LSTM)neural network. In the proposed model, the time series analysis and SSSC-EMD are used to decompose the observed accumulated displacements of a slope into three components, viz.trend displacement, periodic displacement, and random displacement. Then,by analyzing the evolution pattern of a landslide and its key factors triggering landslides, appropriate influencing factors are selected for each displacement component, and DBi-LSTM neural network to carry out multi-datadriven dynamic prediction for each displacement component. An accumulated displacement prediction has been obtained by a summation of each component. For accuracy verification and engineering practicability of the model, field observations from two known landslides in China, the Xintan landslide and the Bazimen landslide were collected for comparison and evaluation. The case study verified that the model proposed in this paper can better characterize the"stepwise"deformation characteristics of a slope. As compared with long short-term memory(LSTM)neural network, support vector machine(SVM),and autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA)model,DBi-LSTM neural network has higher accuracy in predicting the periodic displacement of slope deformation, with the mean absolute percentage error reduced by 3.063%,14.913%,and 13.960%respectively,and the root mean square error reduced by 1.951 mm,8.954 mm and 7.790 mm respectively.Conclusively, this model not only has high prediction accuracy but also is more stable, which can provide new insight for practical landslide prevention and control engineering. 展开更多

The problems in equipment fault detection include data dimension explosion, computational complexity, low detection accuracy, etc. To solve these problems,a device anomaly detection algorithm based on enhanced long short-term memory(LSTM)is proposed. The algorithm first reduces the dimensionality of the device sensor data by principal component analysis(PCA),extracts the strongly correlated variable data among the multidimensional sensor data with the lowest possible information loss, and then uses the enhanced stacked LSTM to predict the extracted temporal data, thus improving the accuracy of anomaly detection. To improve the efficiency of the anomaly detection,a genetic algorithm(GA)is used to adjust the magnitude of the enhancements made by the LSTM model. The validation of the actual data from the pumps shows that the algorithm has significantly improved the recall rate and the detection speed of device anomaly detection, with the recall rate of 97.07%,which indicates that the algorithm is effective and efficient for device anomaly detection in the actual production environment. 展开更多

Global Memory Net (GMNet) is intended to be an effective gateway to the world cultural, historical, and heritage image collections from selected academic educational and research partners in the world. Much of these unique collections of great value to education and research are not currently accessible due to distance, form, and technical barriers. This project is to find new ways to enable users to access and exploit these significant research collections via global network. As GMNet is ending its first 5-year phase in October 2005, it has contributed substantially to the community building in digital library development by ac- commodating numerous collaborators and technical staff from various parts of the world to spend 3 to 5 months as a full-member of the GMNet team in Boston. They have come from different parts of China—such as Sichuan, Hainan, Shanghai and Xi’an; Croatia; and Hanoi, Vietnam. In addition to contribute to the overall system development and enhancement of system function- alities, they have brought valuable sample image collections of their own institutions/countries, and actually developed prototype collections as a part of GMNet. This paper describes the exciting and productive experience of the first of this visiting research group in developing the GMNet’s Version 2.0 PHP-based system under Prof. Chen’s overall supervision. It also describes both the system’s technical level structure—user/Web-based application/data, and complex functionalities with multi-collection, multi-lingual, multi-modal searching capabilities; system management capabilities; as well as provisions for user uploads and retrieval for our own projects. This Version 2.0 system is built on the Linux/Apache/PHP/MySQL platform. What is described in this paper is an actual case which has formed a base for further new development by others in the research group. It demonstrates fully the value of the synergistic collaboration among global partners for universal digital library development. More information can be found in http://www.memorynet.org/. 展开更多

In dense pedestrian tracking, frequent object occlusions and close distances between objects cause difficulty when accurately estimating object trajectories. In this study,a conditional random field tracking model is established by using a visual long short term memory network in the three-dimensional(3D)space and the motion estimations jointly performed on object trajectory segments.Object visual field information is added to the long short term memory network to improve the accuracy of the motion related object pair selection and motion estimation. To address the uncertainty of the length and interval of trajectory segments,a multimode long short term memory network is proposed for the object motion estimation. The tracking performance is evaluated using the PETS2009 dataset. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves better performance than the tracking methods based on the independent motion estimation. 展开更多

An accurate landslide displacement prediction is an important part of landslide warning system. Aiming at the dynamic characteristics of landslide evolution and the shortcomings of traditional static prediction models, this paper proposes a dynamic prediction model of landslide displacement based on singular spectrum analysis(SSA) and stack long short-term memory(SLSTM) network. The SSA is used to decompose the landslide accumulated displacement time series data into trend term and periodic term displacement subsequences. A cubic polynomial function is used to predict the trend term displacement subsequence, and the SLSTM neural network is used to predict the periodic term displacement subsequence. At the same time, the Bayesian optimization algorithm is used to determine that the SLSTM network input sequence length is 12 and the number of hidden layer nodes is 18. The SLSTM network is updated by adding predicted values to the training set to achieve dynamic displacement prediction. Finally, the accumulated landslide displacement is obtained by superimposing the predicted value of each displacement subsequence. The proposed model was verified on the Xintan landslide in Hubei Province, China. The results show that when predicting the displacement of the periodic term, the SLSTM network has higher prediction accuracy than the support vector machine(SVM) and auto regressive integrated moving average(ARIMA). The mean relative error(MRE) is reduced by 4.099% and 3.548% respectively, while the root mean square error(RMSE) is reduced by 5.830 mm and 3.854 mm respectively. It is concluded that the SLSTM network model can better simulate the dynamic characteristics of landslides. 展开更多

Speaker separation in complex acoustic environment is one of challenging tasks in speech separation. In practice, speakers are very often unmoving or moving slowly in normal communication. In this case, the spatial features among the consecutive speech frames become highly correlated such that it is helpful for speaker separation by providing additional spatial information. To fully exploit this information,we design a separation system on Recurrent Neural Network(RNN)with long short-term memory(LSTM)which effectively learns the temporal dynamics of spatial features. In detail,a LSTM-based speaker separation algorithm is proposed to extract the spatial features in each time-frequency(TF)unit and form the corresponding feature vector. Then,we treat speaker separation as a supervised learning problem, where a modified ideal ratio mask(IRM)is defined as the training function during LSTM learning.Simulations show that the proposed system achieves attractive separation performance in noisy and reverberant environments.Specifically, during the untrained acoustic test with limited priors,e.g.,unmatched signal to noise ratio(SNR)and reverberation, the proposed LSTM based algorithm can still outperforms the existing DNN based method in the measures of PESQ and STOI.It indicates our method is more robust in untrained conditions. 展开更多

In this digital era, we have witness the exciting convergence of content, technology, and global collaboration in the development of digital libraries. The mode of universal access for information seeking and knowledge acquisition differs greatly fi'om the traditional ways. From the information resources point of views, the old model of“owning” a collection has given way to “sharing,” and the new emphases have shifted fi'om possessing large “physical libraries” to “virtual libraries” digitally distributed all over the world. “Universal access” has taken on a very different meaning when one has the ability to share invaluable resources through the use of cutting edge technologies. The author has experienced much of these transformations through her own R&D activities-from the creation of interactive videodisc and multimedia CD on the First Emperor of China's terracotta warriors and horses in the 1980s and 1990s to leading a current international digital library project, Global Memory Net (GMNet), supported by the US National Science Foundation. In presenting her vision for linking world digital resources together for universal access, she will share with the audience the latest development of Global Memory Net. 展开更多

Based on data from the Jilin Water Diversion Tunnels from the Songhua River(China),an improved and real-time prediction method optimized by multi-algorithm for tunnel boring machine(TBM)cutter-head torque is presented.Firstly,a function excluding invalid and abnormal data is established to distinguish TBM operating state, and a feature selection method based on the SelectKBest algorithm is proposed.Accordingly, ten features that are most closely related to the cutter-head torque are selected as input variables, which,in descending order of influence, include the sum of motor torque,cutter-head power, sum of motor power, sum of motor current, advance rate,cutter-head pressure, total thrust force, penetration rate,cutter-head rotational velocity, and field penetration index.Secondly,a real-time cutterhead torque prediction model’s structure is developed, based on the bidirectional long short-term memory(BLSTM)network integrating the dropout algorithm to prevent overfitting. Then,an algorithm to optimize hyperparameters of model based on Bayesian and cross-validation is proposed.Early stopping and checkpoint algorithms are integrated to optimize the training process. Finally,a BLSTMbased real-time cutter-head torque prediction model is developed, which fully utilizes the previous time-series tunneling information. The mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)of the model in the verification section is 7.3%,implying that the presented model is suitable for real-time cutter-head torque prediction.Furthermore,an incremental learning method based on the above base model is introduced to improve the adaptability of the model during the TBM tunneling.Comparison of the prediction performance between the base and incremental learning models in the same tunneling section shows that:(1)the MAPE of the predicted results of the BLSTM-based real-time cutter-head torque prediction model remains below 10%,and both the coefficient of determination(R^(2))and correlation coefficient(r)between measured and predicted values exceed 0.95;and(2)the incremental learning method is suitable for realtime cutter-head torque prediction and can effectively improve the prediction accuracy and generalization capacity of the model during the excavation process. 展开更多

Holter usually monitors electrocardiogram(ECG)signals for more than 24 hours to capture short-lived cardiac abnormalities. In view of the large amount of Holter data and the fact that the normal part accounts for the majority,it is reasonable to design an algorithm that can automatically eliminate normal data segments as much as possible without missing any abnormal data segments, and then take the left segments to the doctors or the computer programs for further diagnosis. In this paper,we propose a preliminary abnormal segment screening method for Holter data.Based on long short-term memory(LSTM)networks, the prediction model is established and trained with the normal data of a monitored object. Then,on the basis of kernel density estimation,we learn the distribution law of prediction errors after applying the trained LSTM model to the regular data.Based on these, the preliminary abnormal ECG segment screening analysis is carried out without R wave detection.Experiments on the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database show that, under the condition of ensuring that no abnormal point is missed,53.89% of normal segments can be effectively obviated. This work can greatly reduce the workload of subsequent further processing. 展开更多

The unloading relaxation caused by excavation for construction of high arch dams is an important factor influencing the foundation’s integrity and strength. To evaluate the degree of unloading relaxation, the long-short term memory(LSTM)network was used to estimate the depth of unloading relaxation zones on the left bank foundation of the Baihetan Arch Dam.Principal component analysis indicates that rock charac-teristics,the structural plane, the protection layer, lithology, and time are the main factors. The LSTM network results demonstrate the unloading relaxation characteristics of the left bank, and the relationships with the factors were also analyzed. The structural plane has the most significant influence on the distribution of unloading relaxation zones.Compared with massive basalt, the columnar jointed basalt experiences a more significant unloading relaxation phenomenon with a clear time effect, with the average unloading relaxation period being 50 d.The protection layer can effectively reduce the unloading relaxation depth by approximately 20%. 展开更多

In this paper, the recurrent neural network structure of a bidirectional long shortterm memory network(Bi-LSTM)with special memory cells that store information is used to characterize the deep features of the variation pattern between logging and seismic data.A mapping relationship model between high-frequency logging data and low-frequency seismic data is established via nonlinear mapping. The seismic waveform is infinitely approximated using the logging curve in the low-frequency band to obtain a nonlinear mapping model of this scale, which then stepwise approach the logging curve in the high-frequency band. Finally,a seismic-inversion method of nonlinear mapping multilevel well–seismic matching based on the Bi-LSTM network is developed. The characteristic of this method is that by applying the multilevel well–seismic matching process, the seismic data are stepwise matched to the scale range that is consistent with the logging curve.Further, the matching operator at each level can be stably obtained to effectively overcome the problems that occur in the well–seismic matching process, such as the inconsistency in the scale of two types of data, accuracy in extracting the seismic wavelet of the well-side seismic traces, and multiplicity of solutions.Model test and practical application demonstrate that this method improves the vertical resolution of inversion results, and at the same time, the boundary and the lateral characteristics of the sand body are well maintained to improve the accuracy of thin-layer sand body prediction and achieve an improved practical application effect. 展开更多

With the advent of physics informed neural networks(PINNs),deep learning has gained interest for solving nonlinear partial differential equations(PDEs)in recent years. In this paper, physics informed memory networks(PIMNs)are proposed as a new approach to solving PDEs by using physical laws and dynamic behavior of PDEs.Unlike the fully connected structure of the PINNs,the PIMNs construct the long-term dependence of the dynamics behavior with the help of the long short-term memory network.Meanwhile, the PDEs residuals are approximated using difference schemes in the form of convolution filter, which avoids information loss at the neighborhood of the sampling points. Finally, the performance of the PIMNs is assessed by solving the Kd V equation and the nonlinear Schr?dinger equation, and the effects of difference schemes, boundary conditions, network structure and mesh size on the solutions are discussed.Experiments show that the PIMNs are insensitive to boundary conditions and have excellent solution accuracy even with only the initial conditions. 展开更多

With the rapid development of machine learning, the demand for high-efficient computing becomes more and more urgent. To break the bottleneck of the traditional Von Neumann architecture,computing-in-memory(CIM)has attracted increasing attention in recent years. In this work,to provide a feasible CIM solution for the large-scale neural networks(NN)requiring continuous weight updating in online training,a flash-based computing-in-memory with high endurance(10^(9) cycles)and ultrafast programming speed is investigated. On the one hand, the proposed programming scheme of channel hot electron injection(CHEI)and hot hole injection(HHI)demonstrate high linearity, symmetric potentiation, and a depression process, which help to improve the training speed and accuracy. On the other hand, the low-damage programming scheme and memory window(MW)optimizations can suppress cell degradation effectively with improved computing accuracy.Even after 109 cycles, the leakage current(I_(off))of cells remains sub-10pA,ensuring the large-scale computing ability of memory.Further characterizations are done on read disturb to demonstrate its robust reliabilities.By processing CIFAR-10 tasks,it is evident that~90%accuracy can be achieved after 109 cycles in both ResNet50 and VGG16 NN.Our results suggest that flash-based CIM has great potential to overcome the limitations of traditional Von Neumann architectures and enable high-performance NN online training, which pave the way for further development of artificial intelligence(AI)accelerators. 展开更多

Intelligent penetration testing is of great significance for the improvement of the security of information systems, and the critical issue is the planning of penetration test paths. In view of the difficulty for attackers to obtain complete network information in realistic network scenarios,Reinforcement Learning(RL)is a promising solution to discover the optimal penetration path under incomplete information about the target network.Existing RL-based methods are challenged by the sizeable discrete action space, which leads to difficulties in the convergence. Moreover, most methods still rely on experts’knowledge. To address these issues, this paper proposes a penetration path planning method based on reinforcement learning with episodic memory.First, the penetration testing problem is formally described in terms of reinforcement learning. To speed up the training process without specific prior knowledge, the proposed algorithm introduces episodic memory to store experienced advantageous strategies for the first time.Furthermore, the method offers an exploration strategy based on episodic memory to guide the agents in learning. The design makes full use of historical experience to achieve the purpose of reducing blind exploration and improving planning efficiency.Ultimately, comparison experiments are carried out with the existing RL-based methods. The results reveal that the proposed method has better convergence performance. The running time is reduced by more than 20%. 展开更多

This paper presents a long short-term memory(LSTM)-based fault detection method to detect the multiple open-circuit switch faults of modular multilevel converter(MMC)systems with full-bridge sub-modules(FB-SMs).Eighteen sensor signals of grid voltages, grid currents and capacitance voltages of MMC for single and multi-switch faults are collected as sampling data. The output signal characteristics of four types of single switch faults of FB-SM,as well as double switch faults in the same and different phases of MMC,are analyzed under the conditions of load variations and control command changes.A multi-layer LSTM network is devised to deeply extract the fault characteristics of MMC under different faults and operation conditions, and a Softmax layer detects the fault types.Simulation results have confirmed that the proposed LSTM-based method has better detection performance compared with three other methods:K-nearest neighbor(KNN),naive bayes(NB)and recurrent neural network(RNN).In addition,it is highly robust to model uncertainties and Gaussian noise. The validity of the proposed method is further demonstrated by experiment studies conducted on a hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)testing platform. 展开更多

This article mainly investigates the fuzzy optimization robust control issue for nonlinear networked systems characterized by the interval type-2(IT2)fuzzy technique under a differential evolution algorithm. To provide a more reasonable utilization of the constrained communication channel,a novel adaptive memory event-triggered(AMET)mechanism is developed, where two event-triggered thresholds can be dynamically adjusted in the light of the current system information and the transmitted historical data.Sufficient conditions with less conservative design of the fuzzy imperfect premise matching(IPM)controller are presented by introducing the Wirtinger-based integral inequality, the information of membership functions(MFs)and slack matrices.Subsequently, under the IPM policy,a new MFs intelligent optimization technique that takes advantage of the differential evolution algorithm is first provided for IT2 TakagiSugeno(T-S)fuzzy systems to update the fuzzy controller MFs in real-time and achieve a better system control effect. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control scheme can obtain better system performance in the case of using fewer communication resources. 展开更多
