It allows them to implement and validate their algorithms. Due to the high cost of the massively parallel real machines, they remain unavailable and not popular in the parallel computing community. The goal of this paper is to present an elaborated emulator of a 2-D massively parallel re-configurable mesh computer of size n x n processing elements (PE). Basing on the object modeling method, we develop a hard kernel of a parallel virtual machine in which we translate all the physical properties of its different components. A parallel programming language and its compiler are also devel-oped to edit, compile and run programs. The developed emulator is a multi platform system. It can be installed in any sequential computer whatever may be its operating system and its processing unit technology (CPU). The size n x n of this virtual re-configurable mesh is not limited;it depends just on the performance of the sequential machine supporting the emulator.展开更多

For complex terrain in the city, it is recommended to determine the blast load on the structures via numerical simulation. Since the mesh size of the numerical model highly depends on the explosion scenario, there is no generally applicable approach for the mesh size selection. An efficient method to determine the mesh size of the numerical model of near-ground detonation based on explosion scenarios is proposed in this study. The effect of mesh size on the propagation of blast wave under different explosive weights was studied, and the correlations between the mesh size effect and the charge weight or the scaled distance was described. Based on the principle of the finite element method and Hopkinson-Cranz scaling law, a mesh size measurement unit related to the explosive weight was proposed as the criterion for determining the mesh size in the numerical simulation. Finally, the applicability of the method proposed in this paper was verified by comparing the results from numerical simulation and the explosion tests and was verified in AUTODYN.展开更多

Rock reinforcement techniques, including the use of steel mesh, are critical to achieving this goal. However, there exists a knowledge gap regarding the comprehensive understanding of the mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms exhibited by steel mesh under diverse loading conditions. This study thoroughly explored the steel mesh's performance throughout the entire loading-failure process, innovating with detailed analysis and modeling techniques. By integrating advanced numerical modeling with laboratory experiments, the study examines the influence of varying reinforcement levels and geometric parameters on the steel mesh strength and deformation characteristics. Sensitivity analysis, employing gray correlation theory, identifies the key factors affecting the mesh performance, while a BP (Backpropagation) neural network model predicts maximum vertical deformation with high accuracy. The findings underscore the critical role of steel diameter and mesh spacing in optimizing peak load capacity, displacement, and energy absorption, offering practical guidelines for design improvements. The use of a Bayesian Regularization (BR) algorithm further enhances the predictive accuracy compared to traditional methods. This research provides new insights into optimizing steel mesh design for underground applications, offering an innovative approach to enhancing structural safety in geotechnical projects.展开更多
