This is primarily due to their natural abundance, environmental compatibility, and low cost as well as good electrochemical properties. Despite the fact that most metal oxides possess low conductivity, the introduction of some conductive heterogeneous components, such as nano-carbon, carbon nanotubes(CNTs), and graphene, to form metal oxide-based hybrids, can effectively overcome this drawback. In this mini review, we will summarize the recent advances of three typical 2D metal oxide nanomaterials, namely, binary metal oxides, ternary metal oxides, and hybrid metal oxides, which are used for the electrochemical applications of next-generation rechargeable batteries, mainly for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries(SIBs). Hence, this review intends to functionalize as a good reference for the further research on 2D nanomaterials and the further development of energy-storage devices.展开更多

However, the controlled synthesis of multilevel nanotubes remains a great challenge. Here we develop a facile interface-modulated approach toward the synthesis of complex metal oxide multilevel nanotubes with tunable interior structures through electrospinning followed by controlled heat treatment. This versatile strategy can be effectively applied to fabricate wire-in-tube and tube- in-tube nanotubes of various metal oxides. These multilevel nanotubes possess a large specific surface area, fast mass transport, good strain accommodation, and high packing density, which are advantageous for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Specifically, shrinkable CoMn204 tube-in-tube nanotubes as a lithium-ion battery anode deliver a high discharge capacity of -565 mAh-g-1 at a high rate of 2 A.g-~, maintaining 89% of the latter after 500 cycles. Further, as an oxygen reduction reaction catalyst, these nanotubes also exhibit excellent stability with about 92% current retention after 30,000 s, which is higher than that of commercial Pt/C (81%). Therefore, this feasible method may push the rapid development of one-dimensional (1D) nanomaterials. These multifunctional nanotubes have great potential in many frontier fields.展开更多

文摘Satisfactory ionic conductivity, excellent mechanical stability, and high-temperature resistance are the prerequisites for the safe application of solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs)in all-solid-state lithium metal batteries(ASSLMBs).In this study,a novel poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide)(PMIA)-core/poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)-shell nanofiber membrane and the functional Li_(6.4)La_(3)Zr_(1.4)Ta_(0.6)O_(12)(LLZTO)ceramic nanopar-ticle are simultaneously introduced into the PEO-based SPEs to prepare composite polymer electrolytes(CPEs).The core PMIA layer of composite nanofibers can greatly improve the mechanical strength and thermal stability of the CPEs,while the shell PEO layer can provide the 3D continuous transport channels for lithium ions.In addition, the introduction of functional LLZTO nanoparticle not only reduces the crys-tallinity of PEO,but also promotes the dissociation of lithium salts and releases more Li^(+)ions through its interaction with the Lewis acid-base of anions, thereby overall improving the transport of lithium ions.Consequently, the optimized CPEs present high ionic conductivity of 1.38×10^(−4)S/cm at 30℃,signifi-cantly improved mechanical strength(8.5 MPa),remarkable thermal stability(without obvious shrinkage at 150℃),and conspicuous Li dendrites blocking ability(>1800 h).The CPEs also both have good com-patibility and cyclic stability with LiFePO_(4)(>2000 cycles)and high-voltage LiNi_(0.8)Mn_(0.1)Co_(0.1)O_(2)(NMC811)(>500 cycles)cathodes. In addition, even at low temperature(40℃),the assembled LiFePO4/CPEs/Li bat-tery still can cycle stably. The novel design can provide an effective way to exploit high-performance solid-state electrolytes.

文摘Two-dimensional(2D) metal oxide nanosheets have attracted much attention as potential electrode materials for rechargeable batteries in recent years. Hence, this review intends to functionalize as a good reference for the further research on 2D nanomaterials and the further development of energy-storage devices.

文摘We demonstrate an easy and scalable low-temperature process to convert porous ternary complex metal oxide nanoparticles from solution-synthesized core^shell metal oxide nanopartides by thermal annealing. The final products demonstrate superior electrochemical properties with a large capacity and high stability during fast charging/discharging cycles for potential applications as advanced lithium-ion battery (LIB) electrode materials. In addition, a new breakdown mechanism was observed on these novel electrode materials.
文摘We synthesized Cu3.8Ni/CoO and Cu3.8Ni/MnO nanoparticles via an easy and scalable solution synthesis. The synthesized Cu3.8Ni/CoO and Cu3.8Ni/MnO nano- particles were annealed to remove the organic surfactants without phase transitions or side reactions. Electrons can be transferred via metallic Cu3.8Ni, which will not react with lithium ions. The heterogeneous structures of Cu3.8Ni/CoO and Cu3.8Ni/MnO nanopartides could enhance the lithium ion mobility and improve the life cycle, and these materials are therefore promising candidates as high- power-density and high-energy-density anode materials for lithium-ion batteries in diverse applications, such as electrical vehicles.

文摘Li metal batteries using high-voltage layered oxides cathodes are of particular interest due to their high energy density. However, they suffer from short lifespan and extreme safety concerns, which are attributed to the degradation of layered oxides and the decomposition of electrolyte at high voltage,as well as the high reactivity of metallic Li.The key is the development of stable electrolytes against both highvoltage cathodes and Li with the formation of robust interphase films on the surfaces.Herein,we report a highly fluorinated ether,1,1,1-trifluoro-2-[(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)methoxy]ethane(TTME),as a cosolvent, which not only functions as a diluent forming a localized high concentration electrolyte(LHCE),but also participates in the construction of the inner solvation structure. The TTME-based electrolyte is stable itself at high voltage and induces the formation of a unique double-layer solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)film, which is embodied as one layer rich in crystalline structural components for enhanced mechanical strength and another amorphous layer with a higher concentration of organic components for enhanced flexibility. The Li||Cu cells display a noticeably high Coulombic efficiency of 99.28%after 300 cycles and Li symmetric cells maintain stable cycling more than 3200 h at 0.5 mA/cm^(2) and 1.0m Ah/cm^(2).In addition, lithium metal cells using LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2) and Li CoO_(2) cathodes(both loadings~3.0 m Ah/cm^(2))realize capacity retentions of>85%over 240 cycles with a charge cut-off voltage of 4.4 V and 90%for 170 cycles with a charge cut-off voltage of 4.5 V,respectively. This study offers a bifunctional ether-based electrolyte solvent beneficial for high-voltage Li metal batteries.

文摘Metal oxide hollow structures with multilevel interiors are of great interest for potential applications such as catalysis, chemical sensing, drug delivery, and energy storage. These multifunctional nanotubes have great potential in many frontier fields.

文摘The unstable electrolyte/lithium(Li)anode interface has been one of the key challenges in realizing high energy density solid-state lithium metal batteries(LMBs)applications.Herein,a dense and uniform silver(Ag)nano interlayer with a thickness of∼35 nm is designed accurately by magnetron sputtering technology to optimize the electrolyte/Li anode interface. This Ag nano layer reacts with Li metal anode to in-situ form Li-Ag alloy, thus enhancing the physical interfacial contact, and further improving the interfacial wettability and compatibility. In particular, the Li-Ag alloy is inclined to form AgLi phase proved by cryo-TEM and DFT,effectively preventing SN from continuously“attacking”the Li metal anode due to the lower adsorption of succinonitrile(SN)molecules on AgLi than that of pure Li metal, thereby significantly reinforcing the interfacial stability.Hence, the enhanced physical and chemical stability of electrolyte/Li anode interface promotes the homogeneous deposition of Li^(+)and inhibits the dendrite growth. The Li-symmetric cell maintains stable operation for up to 1700 h and the cycling stability of LiFePO_(4)|SPE|Li full cell is remarkably improved at room temperature(capacity retention rate of 91.9%for 200 cycles). This work opens an effective way for accurate and controllable interface design of long lifespan solid-state LMBs.

文摘The absence of control over carriers transport during electrochemical cycling, accompanied by the deterioration of the solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)and the growth of lithium dendrites, has hindered the development of lithium metal batteries.Herein,a separator complexion consisting of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)nanofiber and MIL-101(Cr)particles prepared by electrospinning is proposed to bind the anions from the electrolyte utilizing abundant effective open metal sites in the MIL-101(Cr)particles to modulate the transport of non-effective carriers. The binding effect of the PANM separator promotes uniform lithium metal deposition and enhances the stability of the SEI layer and long cycling stability of ultra-high nickel layered oxide cathodes.Taking PANM as the Li||NCM96 separator enables high-voltage cycling stability, maintaining 72%capacity retention after 800 cycles at a charging and discharging rate of 0.2 C at a cut-off voltage of 4.5 V and 0°C.Meanwhile,the excellent high-rate performance delivers a specific capacity of 156.3 mA h g^(-1) at 10 C.In addition, outstanding cycling performance is realized from−20 to 60°C.The separator engineering facilitates the electrochemical performance of lithium metal batteries and enlightens a facile and promising strategy to develop fast charge/discharge over a wide range of temperatures.

文摘As one of the most promising secondary batteries in large-scale energy storage, sodium ion batteries(SIBs) have attracted wide attention due to the abundant raw materials and low cost.Layered transition metal oxides are one kind of popular cathode material candidates because of its easy synthesis and large theoretical specific capacity.Yet,the most common P2 and O3 phases show distinct structural characteristics respectively.O3 phase can serve as a sodium reservoir, but it usually suffers from serious phase transition and sluggish kinetics. For the P2 phase,it allows the fast sodium ion migration in the bulk and the structure can maintain stable, but it is lack of sodium, showing a great negative effect on Coulombic efficiency in full cell. Thus, single phase structure almost cannot achieve satisfied comprehensive sodium storage performances.Under these circumstances, exploiting novel multiphase cathodes showing synergetic effect may give solution to these problems. In this review,we summarize the recent development of multiphase layered transition metal oxide cathodes of SIBs,analyze the mechanism and prospect the future potential research directions.

文摘Rational designing and controlling of nanostructures is a key factor in realizing appropriate properties required for the high-performance energy fields. In the present study, hollow Sn O2@C nanoparticles(NPs) with a mean size of 50 nm have been synthesized in large-scale via a facile hydrothermal approach. The morphology and composition of as-obtained products were studied by various characterized techniques. As an anode material for lithium ion batteries(LIBs), the as-prepared hollow Sn O2@C NPs exhibit significant improvement in cycle performances. The discharge capacity of lithium battery is as high as 370 m Ah g 1, and the current density is 3910 m A g 1(5 C) after 573 cycles. Furthermore, the capacity recovers up to 1100 m Ah g 1at the rate performances in which the current density is recovered to 156.4 m A g 1(0.2 C). Undoubtedly, sub-100 nm Sn O2@C NPs provide significant improvement to the electrochemical performance of LIBs as superior-anode nanomaterials, and this carbon coating strategy can pave the way for developing high-performance LIBs.

文摘Manganese-based oxide electrode materials suffer from severe Jahn-Teller(J-T)distortion,leading to severe cycle instability in sodium ion storage. However,it is difficult to adjust the electron at d orbitals exactly to a low spin state to eliminate orbital degeneracy and suppress J-T distortion fundamentally. This article constructed concentration-controllable Mn/O coupled vacancy and amorphous network in Mn_(3)O_(4) and coated it with nitrogen-doped carbon aerogel(Mn_(3-x)O_(4-y)@NCA).The existence of Mn/O vacancies has been confirmed by scanning transmission electron microscopy(STEM)and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy(PALS).Atomic absorption spectroscopy(AAS)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)determine the most optimal ratio of Mn/O vacancies for sodium ion storage is 1:2.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations prove that Mn/O coupled vacancies with the ratio of 1:2could exactly induce a low spin states and a d~4 electron configuration of Mn,suppressing the J-T distortion successfully. The abundant amorphous regions can shorten the transport distance of sodium ions, increase the electrochemically active sites and improve the pseudocapacitance response. From the synergetic effect of Mn/O coupled vacancies and amorphous regions,Mn_(3-x)O_(4-y)@NCA exhibits an energy density of 37.5 W h kg^(-1)and an ultra-high power density of 563 W kg^(-1)in an asymmetric supercapacitor. In sodium-ion batteries,it demonstrates high reversible capacity and exceptional cycling stability. This research presents a new method to improve the Na^(+)storage performance in manganese-based oxide, which is expected to be generalized to other structural distortion.
