The mathematical expression of the electron diffusion and drift length LDE of exponential doping photocathode is deduced. In the quantum efficiency equation of the reflection-mode uniform doping cathode, substituting LDE for LD, the equivalent quantum efficiency equation of the reflection-mode exponential doping cathode is obtained. By using the equivalent equation, theoretical simulation and experimental analysis shows that the equivalent index formula and formula-doped cathode quantum efficiency results in line. The equivalent equation avoids complicated calculation, thereby simplifies the process of solving the quantum efficiency of exponential doping photocathode. 展开更多

We report on the growth and fabrication of deep ultraviolet (DUV) light emitting diodes (LEDs) on an AIN template which was grown on a pulsed atomic-layer epitaxial buffer layer. Threading dislocation densities in the AlN layer are greatly decreased with the introduction of this buffer layer. The crystalline quality of the AlGaN epilayer is further improved by using a low-temperature GaN interlayer between AlGaN and AlN. Electroluminescences of different DUV-LED devices at a wavelength of between 262 and 317nm are demonstrated. To improve the hole concentration of p-type AlGaN, Mg-doping with trimethylindium assistance approach is performed. It is found that the serial resistance of DUV-LED decreases and the performance of DUV-LED such as EL properties is improved. 展开更多

Controlled manipulation of the electron spin by means of a microwave field is investigated. The near magnetic field generated by a copper wire antenna is measured experimentally and simulated theoretically, and the optimum antenna length and position are obtained. By measuring the change in the fluorescence of nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers in diamond after excitation with a 532 nm continuous wave laser at room temperature, it is verified that the spin of the N-V center can be effectively controlled by the microwave field. 展开更多

Ce3+/Eu2+ codoped LiSrBO3 phosphor is synthesized, and its luminescent characteristics are investigated. LiSrBO3:Ce3+,Eu2+ phosphor exhibits varied hues from blue to white and eventually to yellow by resonance-type energy transfer from Ce3+ ion to Eu2+ ion and tuning the relative proportion of Ce3+/Eu2+ properly. Energy transfer mechanism in LiSrBOa:Ce3+, Eu2+ phosphor is dominated by the dipole-dipole interaction, and the critical distance of the energy transfer is estimated to be about 2 nm by both spectral overlap and concentration quenching methods. Under UV radiation, white light is generated by coupling 436 and 565nm emission bands attributed to Ce3+ and Eu2+ radiations, respectively. 展开更多

Metal-tip/Pr0.7Ca0.3MnO3/Pt devices possess two types of I-V hysteresis: clockwise vs counter clockwise depending on the tip materials. The criteria for categorization of these two types of devices can be simply based on whether the Gibbs free energy of oxidation for the metal tip is lower or higher than that of PCMO, respectively. While the clockwise hysteresis can be attributed to electric field induced oxidation/reduction, the counter clockwise hysteresis can be explained by oxygen vacancy migration in an electrical field. Alternating-current conductance spectra also reveal distinct hopping barriers between these two categories of devices at high resistive states. 展开更多

Complexes of chromium(III) metal ion with schiff base i.e. 2,3,9,10 tetraphenyl-1,4,8,11-tetra- azacyclotetradeca-1,3,8,10 tetraene. (BPD) 2,4,10,12-tetramethyl-1,5,9,13-tetraazacyclohexadeca- 1,4,9,12 tetraene. (ADP) 2,3,9,10 tetramethyl 1,4,8,11 tatraazatetredeca-1,3,8,10 tetraene (DDP) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electronic and epr spectral studies. On the basis of elemental analysis the complexes were found to have composition CrLX3 (X = Cl-, , NCS-), Molar conductance, measured in DMF solution of these complexes indicates that the complexes are 1:1 electrolytes in nature, therefore the complexes may be formulated as [CrLX2]X. These complexes show magnetic moment in the range of 3.80 - 3.84 B.M. corresponding to three unpaired electrons. EPR and electronic spectral studies reveal that the complexes possess six-coordinated octahedral geometry. The ligand field parameters were calculated using various energy level diagrams. In vitro synthesized compounds and metal salts have also been tested against some species of plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria in order to assess their antimicrobial properties. 展开更多

The effect of In composition on two-dimensional electron gas in wurtzite AlGaN/InGaN heterostructures is theoretically investigated. The sheet carrier density is shown to increase nearly linearly with In mole fraction x, due to the increase in the polarization charge at the AlGaN/InGaN interface. The electron sheet density is enhanced with the doping in the AlGaN layer. The sheet carrier density is as high as 3.7×1013 cm^-2 at the donor density of 10×1018 cm^-3 for the HEMT structure with x=0.3. The contribution of additional donor density on the electron sheet density is nearly independent of the In mole fraction. 展开更多

For the purpose of improving conversion efficiency of solar cells by applying the effect of the wavelength conversion of rare earth ions, photo-luminescence and excitation spectrums of Ce3+-Tb3+ doped phosphate glass are investigated. Results show that incorporating Ce3+ ions to Tb3+-doped phosphate glass can greatly increase the absorption coefficient in the range 300-400 nm and then the energy transfer (ET) from Ce3+ to Tb3+ occurs. In addition, increasing Tb3+ concentration in Ce3+/Tb3+ co-doped phosphate glass can greatly enhance the ET efficiency and 545 nm emission intensity. This shows that Ce3+/Tb3+ co-doped phosphate glass would be a promising down-shifting material for enhancing the efficiency of solar cells. 展开更多

The effects of working pressure on the composition, structure and surface morphology properties of CuInSe2 (CIS) films selenized with a plasma-assisted selenization process is investigated. Higher selenium content, better crystalline quality and much more regular surface particles compared to the others are found in the CIS film with 40 Pa working pressure. A Cu(In,Ga)Se2 device fabricated with the optimized plasma-assisted selenization process is demonstrated to be better than our previous result. After discussion, the reason for these phenomena is attributed to the compromise of electron temperature and plasma density. 展开更多

We fabricate an inverted bottom-emission organic light emitting diode (IBOLED) employing two n-doped layers, i.e., 5 nm lithium carbonate doped PTCDA (1:2 Li2CO3:PTCDA) with 5 nm Li2CO3 doped BCP (1:4 Li2CO3:BCP) on top, where PTCDA and BCP stand for 3, 4, 9, 10 perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride and bathcuporine, respectively. Compared to the IBOED using a layer of 10 nm 1:4 Li2CO3:BCP, the one utilizing the two-layer combination of 5 nm 1:2 Li2CO3:PTCDA and 5 nm 1:4 Li2CO3:BCP shows decreasing operation voltage and thereby increasing power efficiency, mainly attributed to the higher electron conductivity of 1:2 Li2CO3:PTCDA than that of 1:4 Li2CO3:BCP. The mechanism of the electron transport through the interface of 1:2 Li2CO3:PTCDA and 1:4 Li2CO3:BCP is also discussed. Influences of Interface States on Resistive Switching Properties of TiOx with Different Electrodes

Different TiOx thin films prepared by graded or sufficient oxidization of Ti are applied with Pt or Ag electrode in metal?insulator-metal (MIM) structures for studying the properties and mechanisms of resistive switching. The differences on the mobile oxygen vacancies in TiOx films and different work functions of the electrode films result in different insulator-metal interface states, which are displayed as ohmic-like or non-ohmic contact. Based on the interface states, the electrical models for MIM devices are analyzed and extracted. The electrode-limited effect and the bulk-limited effect can be unified to explain the mechanisms for resistive switching behavior as the dominant effect respectively in various conditions. All the current-voltage curves of the four kinds of specimens measured in the experiments can be explained and proved in accordance with the theory. 展开更多

The introduction of poly(ether urethane) (PEUR) into polymer electrolyte based on poly(ethylene oxide), LiI and I2, has significantly increased the ionic conductivity by nearly two orders of magnitudes. An increment of I3- diffusion coefficient is also observed. All-solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells are constructed using the polymer electrolytes. It was found that PEUR incorporation has a beneficial effect on the enhancement of open circuit voltage VOC by shifting the band edge of TiO2 to a negative value. Scanningelectron microscope images indicate the perfect interfacial contact between the TiO2 electrode and the blend electrolyte. 展开更多

Bending and first flexural mode vibration behavior of electrostatic actuated nanometer-sized interdigitated cantilever arrays are characterized under vacuum conditions. The pull-in'' effect in dc driving and the hard spring effect'' in ac driving are observed. A mass sensitivity of 20 fg is expected for our devices due to the ultra-small mass of the arm and relative high Q factor. The mass-spring lump model combined with Green's function method is used to fit the dc driving behaviors including the pull-in voltage. For the ac driving case, the polynomial expansion of the capacitive force is used in the model. The successfully fittings of the pull-in voltage and the hard spring effect prove that our simulation method could be used for guiding the geometrical design of cantilever-based sensors. 展开更多

Porosity as one of the crucial factors to film morphology affects the overall electrical current-voltage characteristics of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC). We search for the short-circuit current density, the open-circuit voltage and the maximum power output as the main functional parameters of DSC closely related to porosity under different film thickness. The theoretical analyses show some exciting results. As porosity changes from 0.41 to 0.75, the short-circuit current density shows the optimal value when the film thickness is 8-10 μm. The open-circuit voltage presents different variation tendencies for the film thicknesses within 1-8 μm and within 10-30 μm. The porosity is near 0.41 and the film thickness is about 10 μm, DSC will have the maximum power output. The theoretical studies also illustrate that given a good porosity distribution, DSC can obtain an excellent short-circuit current characteristic, which agrees well with the experimental results reported in previous literature. 展开更多
