The five changes include changes in the university students, changes in the professoriate, changes in academic administration, intemationalisation, and assessment of academic work. These changes are evident in higher education in China. The pressure of the changes -on lecturers will have effects on the wellbeing of lecturers. The study discusses the wellbeing under the Self-determination Theory. This theory views wellbeing as a state of happiness. This theory also proposes that people's intrinsic goals like personal growth, meaningful relationships, and community contributions can enhance the satisfaction of three basic needs--need for autonomy, need for competence, and need for relatedness. In this way, lecturers can experience a sense of wellbeing. The findings of the study are significant for leaders in higher education who need to implement policies that foster effective work environments.展开更多

Although there are many factors that determine the credibility of a medical presenter, the way presentations are delivered (the lecture’s structure, visual aids, and the lecturer’s communication skills and engagement with the audience) will influence the effect speakers have on their audience and how credible people consider the lecturer, which will ultimately affect students’ learning. This perspective provides recommendations to increase speakers’ credibility through applying common presentation and communication principles in four domains: expertise and competence (e.g., know your audience, organize your presentation, introduce yourself, hold your arguments with evidence, avoid information overload, be prepared to answer questions), authenticity (be an accessible and honest speaker), personal presence (rehearse your presentation, get organized early, enjoy the moment), and dynamism (engage your audience, do not read your slides, explain the data, use images rather than text, avoid distracting your audience, ask and encourage questions).展开更多
<strong>Background:</strong> Advancing the science of nursing education through technology into teaching and learning is essential to prepare nurses for the changing healthcare environment. <strong>O...<strong>Background:</strong> Advancing the science of nursing education through technology into teaching and learning is essential to prepare nurses for the changing healthcare environment. <strong>Objective:</strong> To synthesise evidence in nursing students’ competency in the clinical setting immediately after completion of training with simulation compared with lectures. <strong>Methods:</strong> Databases were sourced electronically from CINAHL and PubMed using keywords Simulation, lecture, clinical competency and new graduates. Study Eligibility Criteria, Participants and Interventions: Published articles addressing the research objectives, written in English, spaning between September 2010 and March 2019 directly answer the PSCOT question with results applicable to the population specific-nursing students, simulation was utilized. Study Appraisal and Synthesis Methods: Extracted data from sorted studies were analysed and assessed for quality using the John Hopkins Evidence-Based Appraisal Tools. <strong>Results:</strong> The two-database yielded 520 articles, 10 met the eligibility criteria. Findings documented three important themes: 1) Clinical competence among nurses;2) Medical residents’ clinical competence and 3) Was about the competence of anaesthesiology residents. <strong>Limitations: </strong>The identified studies used small sample sizes ranging from 20 to 98 participants in the single research studies.<strong> Conclusions: </strong>The review of the literature found that the active teaching strategy of simulation was more effective in promoting clinical competency in nursing students compared with the lecture method. The evidence-based teaching project proposes the use of simulation as the primary teaching method to improve the clinical competency abilities of registered general nursing (RGN) diploma students.展开更多

Lecturer’s capacity has been evaluated using different parameters in Assosa University, Ethiopia. Mandatorily, lecturers are evaluated using printed check list. For the last few years we observed that, the lecturer efficiency score is found on the shelf and not checked by anyone to know the gaps and to establish follow-up system. The use of intranet based web system is better to use lecturer’s efficiency result to monitor their performance and to establish follow-up mechanism. In this study, a prototype of web based yearbook efficiency management system for evaluating and monitoring the performance of lecturers was designed and developed. The evaluation process in the system was presented according to the university evaluation format. The output generated by the proposed system can be used by lecturers, HoD, HRM and academic managers to monitor teaching performance.</span> </div>展开更多
