This pap...The micromation and precision of the Micro-Electromechanical System demand that its manufacturing, measuring and assembling must work in a micro-manufacturing platform with good ability to isolate vibrations. This paper develops a vibration isolation system of micro-manufacturing platform. The brains of many kinds of birds can isolate vibrations well, such as woodpecker’s brain. When a woodpecker pecks the wood at the speed as 1.6 times as the velocity of sound, its brain will tolerate the wallop 1 500 times of the weight of itself without any damage. The isolation mechanics and organic texture of woodpecker’s brain that has good isolation characteristics were studied. A structure model of vibration isolation system for the micro-manufacturing platform is established based on the bionics of the bird’s brain vibration isolation mechanism. In order to isolate effectively the high frequency vibrations from the ground, a rubber layer is used to isolate vibrations passively between the micro-manufacturing platform’s pedestal and the ground. This layer corresponds to the cartilage and muscles in the outer meninges of the bird’s brain. The active vibration isolation technique is adopted to isolate vibrations between the micro-manufacturing platform and the pedestal. Air springs are used as elastic components, which correspond to the interspaces between the outer meninges and the encephala of the bird’s brain. Actuators are made of giant magnetostrictive material, and it corresponds to the nerves and neural muscles linking the meninges and the encephala. The actuators and air springs are arranged vertically in parallel to make use of the giant magnetostrictive actuators effectively. The air springs support almost all weight of the micro-manufacturing platform and the giant magnetostrictive actuators support almost no weight. In order to realize high performance to isolate complex micro-vibration, the control method using a three-layer neural network is presented. This vibration control system takes into account the floor disturbance and the direct disturbance acting on the micro-manufacturing platform. The absolute acceleration of the micro-manufacturing platform is used as the performance index of vibration control. The performance of the control system is tested by numerical simulation. Simulation results show that the active vibration isolation system has good isolation performance against the floor disturbance and the direct disturbance acting on the micro-manufacturing platform in all the frequency range.展开更多
A small and medium enterprises(SMEs)manufacturing platform aims to perform as a significant revenue to SMEs and vendors by providing scheduling and monitoring capabilities.The optimal job shop scheduling is generated ...A small and medium enterprises(SMEs)manufacturing platform aims to perform as a significant revenue to SMEs and vendors by providing scheduling and monitoring capabilities.The optimal job shop scheduling is generated by utilizing the scheduling system of the platform,and a minimum production time,i.e.,makespan decides whether the scheduling is optimal or not.This scheduling result allows manufacturers to achieve high productivity,energy savings,and customer satisfaction.Manufacturing in Industry 4.0 requires dynamic,uncertain,complex production environments,and customer-centered services.This paper proposes a novel method for solving the difficulties of the SMEs manufacturing by applying and implementing the job shop scheduling system on a SMEs manufacturing platform.The primary purpose of the SMEs manufacturing platform is to improve the B2B relationship between manufacturing companies and vendors.The platform also serves qualified and satisfactory production opportunities for buyers and producers by meeting two key factors:early delivery date and fulfillment of processing as many orders as possible.The genetic algorithm(GA)-based scheduling method results indicated that the proposed platform enables SME manufacturers to obtain optimized schedules by solving the job shop scheduling problem(JSSP)by comparing with the real-world data from a textile weaving factory in South Korea.The proposed platform will provide producers with an optimal production schedule,introduce new producers to buyers,and eventually foster relationships and mutual economic interests.展开更多

Germany announced the Industry ...With ever-increasing market competition and advances in technology, more and more countries are prioritizing advanced manufacturing technology as their top priority for economic growth. Germany announced the Industry 4.0 strategy in 2013. The US government launched the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP) in 2011 and the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) in 2014. Most recently, the Manufacturing USA initiative was officially rolled out to further "leverage existing resources... to nurture manufacturing innovation and accelerate commercialization" by fostering close collaboration between industry, academia, and government partners. In 2015, the Chinese government officially published a 10- year plan and roadmap toward manufacturing: Made in China 2025. In all these national initiatives, the core technology development and implementation is in the area of advanced manufacturing systems. A new manufacturing paradigm is emerging, which can be characterized by two unique features: integrated manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing. This trend is in line with the progress of industrial revolutions, in which higher efficiency in production systems is being continuously pursued. To this end, 10 major technologies can be identified for the new manufacturing paradigm. This paper describes the rationales and needs for integrated and intelligent manufacturing (i2M) systems. Related technologies from different fields are also described. In particular, key technological enablers, such as the Intemet of Things and Services (IoTS), cyber-physical systems (CPSs), and cloud computing are discussed. Challenges are addressed with applica- tions that are based on commercially available platforms such as General Electric (GE)'s Predix and PTC's ThingWorx.展开更多

Based on a multicountry, multi-product heterogeneous firms trade theory model, th...With deepening digital technology applications in international trade, e-commerce platforms have become a major avenue for firm export. Based on a multicountry, multi-product heterogeneous firms trade theory model, this paper investigates the firm export effects of e-commerce platforms, and empirically tests the inferences from the model using data from Alibaba China Station, China industrial enterprises data, and China customs data from 2000 to 2009. Our estimation result shows that overall, e-commerce platforms significantly increase firm export probability and volume;e-commerce platforms enable firms to export products of different types to more countries by reducing the cost of information and export markets threshold while raising trade efficiency. Further analysis of enterprise heterogeneity reveals that SMEs, firms in China's eastern region, and general exporters benefit more from e-commerce platforms than other types of firms do.展开更多
