In order to understand the metabolic process, four cows suffering from clinical mastitis were selected for the pharmacokinetic study. The transdermal preparation was applied to the diseased part of breast. Then the plasma and milk samples were collected respectively at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, and 36 h, The concentrations of baicalin and phillyrin in plasma and milk were determined by HPLC and the data of time-concentrations were analyzed by the pharmacokinetic software. The results showed that two ingredients in the plasma were not detectable, but they in the milk had linear relationship with the time. The peak concentration of baicalin [(2.84 ±0.15)μg mL^-1] appeared at (4.93 ± 0.35) h, AUC0.1OQ was (27.32 ± 7.91) mg L^-1 h^-1, and the mean retention time was (28.31 ±0.49) h. The peak concentration of phillyrin [(0.49 ± 0.41) μg mL^-1] achieved at (3.68 ± 3.14) h, AUC0-LOQ was (4.10± 0.31) mg L^-1 h^-1, and the mean retention time was (14.52 ± 0.02) h. These suggested that two ingredients had slow absorbing speed and high absorbing degree. They could not be eliminated in a short time, thus exerted the topical curative effect.展开更多

A Cu(OH)_2-contained microemulsion was employed as a carrier to disperse the precursor Cu(OH)_2 to the heavy oil phase. Under aquathermolysis condition(240 ℃, 2.5 MPa of N_2), the Cu(OH)_2 precursors would first be converted in situ to well-crystallized and size-homogeneous CuO nanoparticles naturally, catalyzed by which the viscosity of Shengli heavy oil could be reduced as much as 94.6%; simultaneously, 22.4% of asphaltenes were converted to light components. The agglomeration of the in situ prepared monoclinic CuO nanoparticles could be negligible throughout the catalytic reaction. Based on the characterization results of ~1 H NMR, elemental analysis and GC-MS of oil samples before and after catalytic aquathermolysis, the mechanism for viscosity reduction of heavy oil in the catalytic system was investigated.展开更多

However, little infor- mation is available about the pharmacodynamic basis. The antitumor, immunomodulatory and free radical scavenging effects of SCP were evaluated in this study. Transplanted tumor in vivo method was used to determine the antitumor effect. The effects on spleno- cyte proliferation and phagocytosis of macrophages in tumor-bearing mice were measured by the MTT method and the phagocytizing cock red blood cell (CRBC) method respectively. The scavenging activities of SCP on DPPH and hydroxyl radicals in vitro were investigated. It was found that the medium-dose and high-dose of SCP could significantly inhibit the growth of transplanted hepatic tumor of murine hepatocarcinoma cell line H22, and promote proliferation of splenocytes and phagocytosis of macrophages. SCP possessed noticeable scavenging activities on DPPH and hydroxyl radicals. The antiturnor effects of SCP might be achieved by im- proving immune system and scavenging free radicals, which is in accordance with the viewpoint of traditional Chinese medicine in promoting the body resistance and eliminating pathogenic factors for cancer treatment.展开更多

The nanowhiskers with a diameter of about 8 am exhibit a well-crystallized one-dimensional (1D) structure over several hundreds nanometers in length and mainly grow along the 〈111〉 direction. However, without CTAB, only cubic and hexagonal bulks are obtained. Without emulsifier, short and thick nanowhiskers can be prepared but they are apt to agglomerate. The possible growth mechanism of Cu2O nanowhiskers is speculated. The surfactant and the microemulsion system are related to the 1D shape formation and the even dispersion of Cu2O nanomaterials, respectively.展开更多

The effect of preparation parameters on the surface area and crystalline form of the solid solutions were studied by the BET surface area and XRD analysis. The studies indicate that the separation of the microemulsion phase during the preparation procedure can decrease the specific surface area of sample, adding hydrogen peroxide in the matrix solution can increase the specific surface area and stability of sample. The surface area of sample calcined at 550 ℃ for 5 h is 149 m^2·g^(-1), and that calcined at 900 ℃ for 6 h is 88 m^2·g^(-1). The sample with tetragonal symmetry Ce_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_2 phase has a higher stability.展开更多

The experiment was conducted in 20 hypertensive patients, evaluating the efficacy of preparations in reduced levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, body weight and BMI (body mass index). The treatments (T1-garlic, onion and cilantro, oregano; T2-basil, parsley and garlic; and T3-garlic, onion, rosemary and coriander) were added at 1 g of hyposodic salt. The control (T4) was consisting of low sodium salt. All treatments were used for 30 days, in double blind. In outpatient care, anthropometric measurements height and biochemical determinations (time-0, 15 and 30 days) were made. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, average and regression, at 5% significance level. Ethics committee on research approved the project (CAAE 0023.0.238.000-08). The treatments did not differ in the variables analyzed, which indicates that they are as effective as T4. The values of triglycerides and total cholesterol at 15 days and 30 days of use of spices remained within normal limits. Levels of HDL (high density lipoprotein) and LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol remained in the range of the reference values. Only TI was the most effective in reducing all biochemical parameters over time. The T1 and T2 treatments were effective in weight loss and BMI reduction.展开更多

文摘Background:The nutrients in eggs play an important role in the health of different body organs like the brain, cardiometabolic system, musculoskeletal system, skin and eyes and so the eggs can be considered as functional foods. In order to maintain the highest nutrient content of an egg,it is recommended to cook it properly, but no specific clinical research has been carried out yet on the role that the cooking of an egg plays in its food and health properties. For this reason, this study has collected and discussed the topics related to a variety of methods of cooking eggs, based on the texts of Persian Medicine, and conducted a comparison with modern sources of nutrition. Methods:The present study is a review in which sources of Persian Medicine(PM)were searched in software JamiTib(Version 1.5)and Persian electronic banks, sites of PubMed,Google Scholar,ScienceDirect, and Embase and websites of health reference of American food and water. Finally, the results obtained were classified and a content analysis was carried out. Results:In the PM books,in addition to referring to the different properties of eggs, different effects of different egg preparation have been investigated. The wise men of the school of medicine have proposed at least five methods of egg preparation, including very soft boiled,soft-boiled,hardboiled,fried,and omelet. In the texts, the healing properties of each case and the quality of digestion in the body were separately investigated.Among the five main methods of preparation eggs, the therapeutic and digestive effects of soft-boiled eggs are emphasized to a greater extent, because easy digestion leads to more beneficial effects of the yolk of the eggs. Conclusion:Though the wise men of Persian Medicine have proposed a variety of methods to cook eggs, ease of digestion is one of the most important factors in their decision-making while proposing the type of cooking method for therapeutic prescriptions. In contrast,in modern nutrition research, regardless of the method of cooking eggs, the effect of its use on diseases like heart disease or diabetes has been studied.Owing to the fact that many cases of eggs,as mentioned, have been confirmed in PM texts during modern scientific surveys,it appears that clinical studies on the relevant issues of eggs in this context are useful in better understanding therapeutic effects.

文摘We developed an in situ synthesis strategy for preparing well-dispersed CuO nanoparticles as aquathermolysis catalyst for viscosity reduction in Shengli heavy oil(China). Based on the characterization results of ~1 H NMR, elemental analysis and GC-MS of oil samples before and after catalytic aquathermolysis, the mechanism for viscosity reduction of heavy oil in the catalytic system was investigated.

文摘Seaweed Complex Preparation (SCP) is a clinical traditional Chinese medicine preparation which is composed of seven traditional Chinese herbs, and it has been used for treatment of lung cancer, liver cancer and digestive cancer. The antiturnor effects of SCP might be achieved by im- proving immune system and scavenging free radicals, which is in accordance with the viewpoint of traditional Chinese medicine in promoting the body resistance and eliminating pathogenic factors for cancer treatment.

文摘Dispersed cuprite (Cu2O) nanowhiskers were synthesized in a water/butanol/cyclohexane/cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) water-in-oil microemulsion system at 25℃. The surfactant and the microemulsion system are related to the 1D shape formation and the even dispersion of Cu2O nanomaterials, respectively.
文摘The CeO_2-ZrO_2 solid solutions were prepared by a reverse microemulsion method. The sample with tetragonal symmetry Ce_(0.5)Zr_(0.5)O_2 phase has a higher stability.

文摘3D printing is a promising technology used in the fabrication of complex oral dosage delivery pharmaceuticals. This study first reports an innovative color jet 3D printing(CJ-3DP)technology to produce colorful cartoon levetiracetam pediatric preparations with high accuracy and reproducibility. For this study, the ideal printing ink consisted of 40%(v/v)isopropanol aqueous solution containing 0.05%(w/w)polyvinylpyrrolidone and 4%(w/w)glycerin,which was satisfied with scale-up of the production. The external and internal spatial structures of the tablets were designed to control the appearance and release, and cartoon tablets with admirable appearances and immediate release characteristics were printed. The dosage model showed a good linear relationship between the model volume and the tablet strength(r>0.999),which proved the potential of personalized administration. The surface roughness indicated that the appearance of the CJ-3DP tablets was significantly better than the first listed 3D printed drug(Spritam R).Moreover, the scanning electron microscopy and porosity results further showed that the tablets have a structure of loose interior and tight exterior, which could ensure good mechanical properties and rapid dispersion characteristics simultaneously. In conclusion, the innovative CJ-3DP technology can be used to fabricate personalized pediatric preparations for improved compliance.Due to the stable formulation and fabrication process, this technology has the potential in scale-up production.
文摘This study tested three preparations of spices made from medicinal plants with proven cardioprotective activity. The T1 and T2 treatments were effective in weight loss and BMI reduction.
文摘Objective This study engaged in investigation of optimal formulation, characteristics analysis of Brucea javanica oil microemulsion(BJOM) in order to address safety concerns and make recommendations for improvements in BJOM safety during clinical use in vivo. Methods Pseudo-ternary phase diagram techniques were used to determine the appropriate ratio of surfactant, cosurfactant, and oil phases.Subsequent stability testing of BJOM was performed by dilution, centrifugation, and accelerated stability testing. The results were expounded through additional assessment utilizing the classical thermostat method to establish the shelf life of the material. These results were utilized to evaluate the safety of BJOM by haemolytic, irritative and allergic testing in vitro. In addition, the cytotoxicity of BJOM was examined using the tetrazolium salt 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT),with particular emphasis given to potential uses in cancer treatment. Results The most suitable method of preparation for BJOM was found to be a one to one ratio(Km 1∶ 1) of Solutol HS15 surfactant matched with sorbitol cosurfactant in the ratio. The microemulsion droplets of BJOM possessed a spherical shape, uniform size, and average diameter of 23.8nm.The expiration date of BJOM was found to be 568d.The safety study demonstrated no haemolysis activity at the experimental BJOM concentrations;however, mild haemolysis was observed at higher concentrations of Brucea javanica oil emulsion(BJOE),a common commercially available product.Irritation observed upon BIOM treatment can be primarily attributed to Brucea javanica oil(BJO) with little influence of BJOM excipients. In addition,BJOM caused no observed hypersensitivity or other visible allergic reactions in guinea pigs. The anticancer activity curves of BJOM and BJOE demonstrate that both BJOM and BJOE inhibit Hela cells, with BIOM demonstrating significantly more dramatic anticancer activity. Conclusion An optimal formulation of BJOM superior to commercially available products and safe for medical application such as intravenous injection has been outlined along with its anticancer activity rating.
