A survey produced some results that are worth studying. The teachers in this special group are keeping their heavy-burdened teaching job by finding ways to escape their work-related stress and at the same time trying to save face. Answers to the questionnaire have proved that Chinese cultural characteristics have been deeply rooted in the SFL teaching staff even though they have accepted and learned western culture over a period of many years.展开更多

At the same time I will also demonstrate that the body politics of women teachers in secondary education do not represent the stable and rigid hierarchy of traditional teacher-student relationship but shape the subjectivity which are deployed and suffused as a capillary action by the disciplines and power relations interwoven by gender, sexuality, class and age throughout the individual's cognition and behavior, thus produce self-monitoring in the meantime monitoring others for social function. Finally, I will argue that how the subjectivity under the social structure and cultural norms generates an individual's agency of resistance and subversion to existing gender structures through reflectivity in the cracks produced by the collision, fragmentation, consultation within different discourses, and then finds the temporary strategic and political positioning and identity.展开更多

Early cervical screening methods have contributed to the fall of cervical cancer deaths in the developed world. This is different in developing countries where people have limited knowledge about this disease condition and the screening methods for prevention. This study determined the knowledge and practice of cervical cancer screening among female secondary school teachers in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Method: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in which self-administered questionnaires were returned by 142 respondents and results were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 17. Results: The mean age of the respondents was 35.6 ± 1.76 years. A high proportion of the respondents were aware of cervical cancer 106 (74.6%). About 44 (41.5%) knew of cervical cancer screening by Pap smear, out of which only 20.5% had done a pap smear. The most common reasons given for not doing the test were;not deeming the test necessary, not knowing where the test could be done and feeling of not being at risk of developing cervical cancer. Conclusion/Recommendation: Though the level of awareness of cervical cancer screening was high, the level of uptake of Pap smear was still very low. A national cervical cancer Pap smear campaign should be intensified to change the negative perception towards Pap smear test.展开更多

Before treatment, the patients of both groups had elevated glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc) and fast blood glucose (FBG) levels, decreased serum estradiol (E2 ) and testosterone/estradiol(E2/T) ratio, and the loss of bone mineral (elevated urinary calcium, phosphorus levels) . Most ot the pa-tients in the two groups had the symptoms of soreness and weakness of the loins and knees, general weak-ness ,dizziness, decreased sexual libido , palpitation and frequent urination , etc. These symptoms in traditionalChinese medicine belong to the deficiency of the Kidney. After treatment in both groups. the patients' serumHbAlc, FBG, and urinary Beta-2-microglobulin (B2M) got reduced, the concentration of serum sex hormone(E2 , E2/T ratio) elevated, and the elimination of urinary calcium, phosphorus levels cut down. But , the ther-apeutic effect in group B is apparently better than that in group A. The symptoms of deficiency of the Kidneywas apparently improved in group B. So, The authors think the medicinal herbs(reinforcing Kidney and acti-vating blood circulation) have an important role in the prevention and treatment of the 'Kidney deficiency'and bone mineral loss in middle-aged and elderly female diabetes patients.展开更多
