However, whether Toutongning capsule exerts its effects via endogenous opioid peptides remains poorly understood. This study investigated the effects of Toutongning capsule on enkephalin expression in the midbrain of rats with nitroglycerin-induced migraine headache at the mRNA and protein levels. Results confirmed that proenkephalin mRNA levels were significantly upregulated following treatment with Toutongning capsule. The numbers methionine-enkephalin and leucine-enkephalin-positive cells were significantly greater in the migraine headache rats following treatment with Toutongning capsule compared with the model group. Taken together, these results show that Toutongning capsule exerts potentially beneficial effects by promoting enkephalin expression in nitroglycerin-induced migraine headache rats.展开更多
BACKGROUND Trastuzumab is a generally safe agent prescribed in the systemic treatment of breast cancer.Tinnitus is not a currently known adverse event related to trastuzumab.Here,we describe a rare case of severe tinn...BACKGROUND Trastuzumab is a generally safe agent prescribed in the systemic treatment of breast cancer.Tinnitus is not a currently known adverse event related to trastuzumab.Here,we describe a rare case of severe tinnitus and a migraine headache induced by trastuzumab used for adjuvant therapy.CASE SUMMARY A 37-year-old woman was diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive breast cancer.After surgery,she was treated with four cycles of epirubicin and cyclophosphamide;she then received docetaxel and a loading dose of trastuzumab plus pertuzumab.Less than half an hour after trastuzumab infusion,the patient complained of severe tinnitus and left-sided migraine headache.Trastuzumab monotherapy was discontinued immediately,and symptoms disappeared after 10 min.Trastuzumab was readministered,and severe tinnitus and migraine headache recurred.Trastuzumab was stopped,and severe tinnitus diminished after 10 min.Pertuzumab and docetaxel therapy was then administered,and no adverse events were observed.Subsequent infusions of trastuzumab every three weeks did not show the same symptoms.CONCLUSION Although trastuzumab is well-tolerated in most patients,we should pay attention to the risk of severe tinnitus and migraine.展开更多
Clinical studies have suggested that internal and/or external aversive cues may produce a negative affective-motivational component whereby maladaptive responses(plasticity)of dural afferent neurons are initiated cont...Clinical studies have suggested that internal and/or external aversive cues may produce a negative affective-motivational component whereby maladaptive responses(plasticity)of dural afferent neurons are initiated contributing to migraine chronification.However,pathophysiological processes and neural circuitry involved in aversion(unpleasantness)-producing migraine chronification are still evolving.An interdisciplinary team conducted this narrative review aimed at reviewing neuronal plasticity for developing migraine chronicity and its relevant neurocircuits and providing the most cutting-edge information on neuronal mechanisms involved in the processing of affective aspects of pain and the role of unpleasantness evoked by internal and/or external cues in facilitating the chronification process of migraine headache.Thus,information presented in this review promotes the understanding of the pathophysiology of chronic migraine and contribution of unpleasantness(aversion)to migraine chronification.We hope that it will bring clinicians’attention to how the maladaptive neuroplasticity of the emotion brain in the aversive environment produces a significant impact on the chronification of migraine headache,which will in turn lead to new therapeutic strategies for this type of pain.展开更多

Methods: The migraine patients in conformity with the conditions were randomly divided into two groups, 34 cases in each group. The treatment group was given EA and the control group was given the routine acupuncture treatment, to observe various pain indexes respectively before and one month after the treatment. Results: The general effect was remarkably better in the treatment group than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: EA is an effective therapy for migraine without aura.展开更多
