Compact autodyne mode circuit structure front-end is adopted to achieve higher signal to noise ratio and higher reliability, which is beneficial to the after-end imagining. The factors that influence the dynamic range and the transverse resolution ratio of holographic imaging system have been analyzed. Wide-band oscillator, wide-band low noise amplifier and the tapered slot antennas are implemented to meet the requirements of the holographic imagining system. According to the measured results, the output power is uniform in the broadband working frequency. The sub-harmonic suppression is better than 25 dBc from the frequency of 28 GHz to 33 GHz. The isolation between antennas channel is greater than 20 dB. The experimental result shows that the performance of the front-end is good enough to meet the needs of active millimeter-wave holographic imaging system.展开更多

The proposed system employs the squint operation mode to remove the background and twin- image interferences, which achieves a similar effect to off-axis holography but leaves out the large-aperture quasi-optical component. The translational scanning manner enables a large field of view and ensures the image uniformity, which is difficult to realize in off-axis holography. In addition, a corresponding imaging algorithm for the presented scheme is developed to reconstruct the image from the recorded hologram. Some imaging results on typical objects, obtained with electromagnetic simulation, demonstrate good performance of the imaging scheme and validate the effectiveness of the image reconstruction algorithm.展开更多

The antenna should work in that specific frequency because of having low attenuation in that region according to frequency behavior in misty conditions. Antenna also should have approximately 50 ohm input impedance value so that perfect matching to the active circuits will occur. The input reflection coefficient, S11, has to be under -20 dB and the gain of the antenna, has to be over 10 dB value for better efficiency. Microstrip Vivaldi Fed Antenna provides all of the conditions for imaging system, was designed by using Antenna Magus Computer Program and later it was designed in detail with Computer Simulation Technology Studio Suite Computer Program. The last format of the VFA has -23.1 dB input reflection coefficient, 48.55 ohm input impedance and 12.3 dB gain for 35 GHz OF. It is ready to connect to the LNA and detector, which are active circuits of the PMWIS. At the end, the detector will be connected to the VA and computer. The receiver of PMWIS is composed to the VFA connected to the other equipment that is defined above will scan elevation and azimuth angles, as a result; the VA will transfer the signals to the computer. Computer will show the user the scanning area image. In this system, antenna is the most important section and particular attention was given to the antenna in this study.展开更多

The imaging system requires the lens to form beam spot with 3 dB width less than 35 mm at distance of 3500 mm. The powerful optical design software ZEMAX was utilized to design the contours of the lens, and numerical method based on ray tracing and Huygens’ Principle was processed to verify the design result. Measurement result shows that the 3 dB width of the beam spot formed by the lens is 34 mm at distance of 3460 mm, and the beam pattern on imaging plane are equally arranged and the intensity decreases only 0.55 dB while the object lateral deviation increases to 300 mm.展开更多

Thus, efficient post-processing is necessary to achieve resolution improvement. An adaptive projected Landweber (APL) super-resolution algorithm using a spectral correction procedure, which attempts to combine the strong points of all of the projected Landweber (PL) iteration and the adaptive relaxation parameter adjustment and the spectral correction method, is proposed. In the algorithm, the PL iterations are implemented as the main image restoration scheme and a spectral correction method is included in which the calculated spectrum within the passband is replaced by the known low frequency component. Then, the algorithm updates the relaxation parameter adaptively at each iteration. A qualitative evaluation of this algorithm is performed with simulated data as well as actual radiometer image captured by 91.5 GHz mechanically scanned radiometer. From experiments, it is found that the super-resolution algorithm obtains better results and enhances the resolution and has lower mean square error (MSE). These constraints and adaptive character and spectral correction procedures speed up the convergence of the Landweber algorithm and reduce the ringing effects that are caused by regularizing the image restoration problem.展开更多

The poor spatial resolution, which is limited by antenna size, should be improved by post data processing. A conjugate-gradient (CG) algorithm is adopted to circumvent this drawback. Simulation and real data collected in laboratory environment are given, and the results show that the CG algorithm improves the spatial resolution and convergent rate. Further, it can reduce the ringing effects which are caused by regularizing the image restoration. Thus, the CG algorithm is easily implemented for PMMW imaging.展开更多

The fabricated silicon photonic chip has a footprint of 1.1 × 2.1 mm^2 and integrates 7 independent channels each having on-chip polarization control and heterodyne mixing functions. 7 channels of4-Gb/s QPSK baseband signals are delivered via a 2-km multi-core fiber(MCF) and coupled into the chip with a local oscillator(LO) light. The polarization state of each signal light is automatically adjusted and aligned with that of the LO light, and then 7 channels of 28-GHz MMW carrying 4-Gb/s QPSK signals are generated by optical heterodyne beating. Automated polarizationcontrol function of each channel is also demonstrated with ~7-ms tuning time and ~27-dB extinction ratio.展开更多

The current technologies cannot achieve all the mentioned requirements. New technologies and new approaches for deploying more active and passive nodes must be developed. Furthermore, the use of MMW band and THz band (30 - 300 GHz), in order to utilize their huge bandwidth, results in deploying more active node and more antennas due to high propagation losses and “LOS” behavior at this band. Development of innovative technologies is necessary to realize the above demand for growth of future wireless communication. The main task is to suggest solutions for the time varying characteristic of the wireless channel due to the user mobility and shadowing or blocking of communication channel. The current methods such as use of pilot channel to estimate the fading, various modulation or coding and beamforming, have overhead and limitations over random (large, unexpected changes) channels.展开更多
