The present study is devoted to the furthe...Since it is unrealistic to do an experimental mixture assessment on every possible combination, mathematical model plays an important role in predicting the mixture toxicity. The present study is devoted to the further application of linear concentration addition(CA)-based model(LCA) and independent action(IA)-based model(LIA) to predict the non-interactive mixture toxicity. The 26 mixtures including 312 data points were used to evaluate the predictive powers of LCA and LIA models. The models were internally validated using the leave-one-out cross-validation and y-randomization test, and the external validations were evaluated by the test tests. Both LCA and LIA models agree well with the experimental values for all mixture toxicity, and present high internally(R2 and Q2 〉 0.98) and externally(Q2F1, Q2F2, and Q2F3 〉 0.99) predictive power. The use of LCA and LIA led to improved predictions compared to the estimates based on the CA and IA models. Both LCA and LIA were found to be appropriate methods for modeling toxicity of non-interactive chemical mixtures.展开更多
The detached clay particles directly filtrated through the sand-clay mixture lead to suffusion;however,if the detached clay particles are subjected to reattachment,the degree of suffusion may be less significant.This ...The detached clay particles directly filtrated through the sand-clay mixture lead to suffusion;however,if the detached clay particles are subjected to reattachment,the degree of suffusion may be less significant.This study investigates the impact of clay particle reattachment on suffusion of sand-clay mixtures through laboratory soil-column experiments.The observed breakthrough curves(BTCs)of kaolinite,illite,and montmorillonite for 5 different column lengths(3 in,6 in,9 in,12 in,and 18 in;1 in=2.54 cm)indicated that a higher breakthrough concentration was observed as the column length(L)decreased for kaolinite and illite,whereas a reverse trend was observed for montmorillonite.In addition,the increase in the fraction of filtrated clay particles(Me)with an increase in L(Me=10.42%for L=3 in and Me=3.59%for L=18 in)for the sand-illite mixture indicated that the reattachment effect became more significant as the travel length of detached clay particles increased.The observed BTCs,retention profiles after injection,and fraction of filtrated clay presented herein suggest the need to incorporate the reattachment effect when assessing the suffusion of clay-containing soils.展开更多
The absorption process in acrylic acid production was water-intensive.The concentration of acrylic acid before distillation process was low,which induced to large amount of wastewater and enormous energy consumption.I...The absorption process in acrylic acid production was water-intensive.The concentration of acrylic acid before distillation process was low,which induced to large amount of wastewater and enormous energy consumption.In this work,a new method was proposed to concentrate the side stream of absorption column and thus increase the concentration in bottom product by electrodialysis.The influence of operating conditions on concentration rate and specific energy consumption were investigated by a laboratory-scale device.When the voltage drop was 1 V·cP^(-1)(1 cP=10^(-3) Pa·s),flow velocity was 3 cm·s^(-1) and the temperature was 35℃,the concentration rates of acrylic acid and acetic acid could be 203.3%and 156.6%in the continual-ED process.Based on the experimental data,the absorption process combined with ED was simulated,in which the diluted solution from ED process was used as spray water and the concentrated solution was feed back to the absorption column.The results shown that the flow rate of spray water was decreased by 37.1%,and the acrylic acid concentration at the bottom of the tower was increased by 4.56%.The ions exchange membranes before and after use 1200 h were tested by membrane surface morphology(scanning electron microscope),membrane chemical groups(infrared spectra),ion exchange capacity,and membrane area resistance,which indicated the membrane were stable in the acid system.This method provides new method for energy conservation and emission reduction in the traditional chemical industry.展开更多

Buckingham exp-6 potential has been utilized in calculations, based on statistical perturbation theory. The effects of various values of density, temperature and isotopic concentrations on pressure have been studied.
