Following an overview of the rotary compactor and the compaction procedure, it is demonstrated that the rotary compactor is able to produce uniform slabs with the desired thickness of 65 mm all over around. Furthermore, 132 cored samples from the rotary compactor had been compacted uniformly with approximately 4% optimum air void content. In addition, performance tests results indicate that the rotary compactor produces asphalt mixturures with the requirements of resilient modulus, Marshall stability and flow. A weight factor was introduced for each fraction of aggregates in the degradation analysis to compensate the crushing effect of aggregates during mixing and compacting.展开更多

Res. 45(2006) 9211–9223). In the present paper, the corresponding states correlations for reduced viscosity collision integrals were employed to obtain effective unlike interaction potential models for dilute binary mixtures of highly polar molecule ammonia with noble gases. The inverted potentials were fitted to the Morse–Spline–van der Waals(MSV), model potential. The method of least-squares fitting was then applied to identify best consistence force parameters for each ammonia-noble gas mixture, taking advantage of experimental viscosities, diffusion coefficients and thermal conductivities. The proposed potential models were compared with those obtained from other sources, in order to assess the extent of their validity. The potentials were later employed to calculate transport properties of the studied mixtures. Then, results were compared with those reported in the literature, which led to the acceptable agreement.展开更多

Firstly, different mass ratios of lauric acid(LA) and stearic acid(SA) eutectic mixtures were prepared and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). Then, the performance of eutectic mixture during charging process under different fin widths in vertical condition, and performance during charging and discharging processes under different inlet temperature heat transfer fluid(HTF) in horizontal condition were investigated, respectively. The results revealed that the LA-SA eutectic mixture had the suitable phase change temperature and desired latent heat for low-temperature water floor heating system. Wide fins and high inlet temperature HTF significantly enhanced the transfer rate and decreased the melting time.展开更多

The equilibrium Dühring (P-T-XIL) and enthalpy (h-T-XIL) of mixture were assessed using the excess Gibbs free non-random two liquid (NRTL) model for a temperature range ??? of 20°C to 140°C and XIL from 0.1 to 0.9. The performance validation of the ARS cycle showed a better coefficient of performance (COP) of 0.834 for H2O-[mmim][DMP] in comparison to NH3-H2O, H2O-LiBr, H2O-[emim][DMP], and H2O-[emim][BF4]. Further, ARS performances with various operating temperatures of the absorber (Ta), condenser (Tc), generator (Tg), and evaporator (Te) were simulated and optimized for a maximum COP and exergetic COP (ECOP). The effects of Tg from 50°C to 150°C and Ta and Tc from 30°C to 50°C on COP and ECOP, the Xa, Xg, and circulation ratio (CR) of the ARS were evaluated and optimized for Te from 5°C to 15°C. The optimization revealed that Tg needed to achieve a maximum COP which was more than that for a maximum ECOP. Therefore, this investigation provides criteria to select low grade heat source temperature. Most of the series flow of the cases of cooling water from the condenser to the absorber was found to be better than the absorber to the condenser.展开更多
