From t...Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the reliability of the mock transfer during in vitro fertilization process Method: A case-control study was conducted on 134 patients included in IVF/ICSI cycles. From the hysterometry obtained during the mock transfer, the ideal embryo replacement site, i.e. two cm from the uterine fundus has been determined. Results: Significant differences were noted between the area estimated from the mock transfer and the area where the embryo was deposited during the actual embryo transfer. In fact, 15.9% of the patients had a difference between four and six cm, and 32% of the patients returning for a subsequent transfer had at least 2 cm of difference between the embryo deposit zones. This difference was significant (P 0.00) Conclusion: More than ultrasound guidance, the challenge with embryo transfer is to be able to minimize variations in the length of the uterus. This would make it possible to determine the ideal transfer depot area without multiple manipulations.展开更多

According to the preliminary concept of the high-level radioactive waste(HLW) repository in China,a large-scale mock-up facility,named China-Mock-Up was constructed in the laboratory of Beijing Research Institute of U...According to the preliminary concept of the high-level radioactive waste(HLW) repository in China,a large-scale mock-up facility,named China-Mock-Up was constructed in the laboratory of Beijing Research Institute of Uranium Geology(BRIUG).A heater,which simulates a container of radioactive waste,is placed inside the compacted Gaomiaozi(CMZ)-Na-bentonite blocks and pellets.Water inflow through the barrier from its outer surface is used to simulate the intake of groundwater.The numbers of water injection pipes,injection pressure and the insulation layer were determined based on the numerical modeling simulations.The current experimental data of the facility are herein analyzed.The experiment is intended to evaluate the thermo-hydro-mechano-chemical(THMC) processes occurring in the compacted bentonite-buffer during the early stage of HLW disposal and to provide a reliable database for numerical modeling and further investigation of engineered barrier system(EBS),and the design of HLW repository.展开更多
The China-mock-up test is to evaluate the performance of the compacted Gaomiaozi(GMZ) bentonite under coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM) conditions in deep geological disposal.A numerical study of the test is conduc...The China-mock-up test is to evaluate the performance of the compacted Gaomiaozi(GMZ) bentonite under coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM) conditions in deep geological disposal.A numerical study of the test is conducted in this paper.The principal THM characteristics of the bentonite are presented at first.A THM model is then presented to tackle the complex coupling behavior of the bentonite.The model of Alonso-Gens is incorporated to reproduce the mechanical behavior of the bentonite under unsaturated conditions.With the proposed model,numerical simulations of the China-mock-up test are carried out by using the code of LAGAMINE.The time variations associated with the temperature,degree of saturation,suction and swelling pressure of the compacted bentonite are studied.The results suggest that the proposed model is able to reproduce the mechanical behavior of the bentonite,and to predict moisture motion under coupled THM conditions.展开更多

Our goal was to develop and evaluate a multidisciplinary pediatric mock code trai...Background: Management of the acutely ill children represents one of the more complex clinical skills required of pediatric physicians. Our goal was to develop and evaluate a multidisciplinary pediatric mock code training program for the pediatric residents in our institution. Methods: We performed a before and after evaluation of pediatric residents. The residents were educated by attending five mock code scenarios, followed by debriefing. Before and after the five sessions, the residents completed a self-assessment questionnaire. Results: Residents reported a significant improvement in their comfort in all aspects of managing pediatric resuscitations, with notable improvement seen in running a resuscitation requiring airway management, managing fluid resuscitation and performing endotracheal intubation. The most prominent change was demonstrated in the comfort level of the overall management of a pediatric resuscitation. Conclusion: The pediatric mock code educational training program improved residents’ self-reported knowledge and comfort level in managing pediatric emergency situations.展开更多

Copper as a heat sink material serves to transfer heat excellently. Divertor mock-ups with W/Cu graded interlayers were designed to reduce thermal stresses. Thermally induced stresses and temperature in a W/Cu divertor mock-up were analyzed using the finite element method. The graded structures with different exponents p and thicknesses were designed and discussed. The conclusions drawn from these analyses are that thermal stresses reach the minimum and the temperature is suitable when exponent p is 1.5 and the thickness of five graded interlayers is 5 mm.展开更多

The internalization of motivation in second/foreign language(L2)learning and the use of mock conferences(MCs)to prepare translating and interpreting learners for future professional careers have been widely researched...The internalization of motivation in second/foreign language(L2)learning and the use of mock conferences(MCs)to prepare translating and interpreting learners for future professional careers have been widely researched by scholars,but whether MC can facilitate the internalization of T&I learners’motivation is under-researched.Based on self-determination theory(SDT),this thesis investigates the effectiveness of MC in facilitating internalization of motivation through an empirical study which involves a 2-week long pedagogical experiment on two parallel classes of T&I learners taught by the same teacher in their 1st year of graduate study at Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation,Beijing Foreign Studies University.The research shows that compared with traditional teachercentered teaching model,MCs can better facilitate internalization of T&I learners’motivation.This article justifies the use of MCs as a situated approach in interpreting teaching and describes the design of MCs according to the psychological needs of SDT.In addition,the paper offers suggestions for further improvement of MCs design at the postgraduate level.展开更多
