The influence of normal and shear stresses on fault activation and effective shear stress distribution in the fault plane was acquired under mining conditions.Using fracture mechanics theory to calculate the stress intensity factor of an insidious fault front, we have derived the criterion for main fault activation. Results indicate that during the whole working face advance, transpressions are exerted on fault planes twice successively in opposite directions. In most cases, the second transpression is more likely to lead to fault activation. Activation is influenced by many factors, predominant among which are: burial depth of the insidious fault, friction angle of the fault plane, face advance direction and pore water pressure. The results show that V-shaped fissures usually occur in the bottom clay layer at the front top of the active face and that the position of these fissures changes periodically with ground pressure intervals. These fissures occur exactly in the area where the horizontal strain is concentrated. The results also demonstrate that the permeability coefficient of the cracked clay decreases while fissures tend to close. The permeability of the cracked bottom clay layer increases rapidly after a turning point in the permeability coefficient-water head curve (K-H curve) under a certain vertical load. Under static water pressure, the permeability coefficient of cracked clay decreases when load increases. A turning point in the K-H curve showed up and can be seen as a cutoff point to de-cide water inrush under a certain load level. Under an instantaneous water head, the greatest ability of the cracked clay to avoid drastic water inflow is a little higher than that under static conditions.展开更多

In this paper, based on the fluid-solid coupling theory, we built the stress-seepage coupling model for rock, then we combined with an example of water-inrush caused by fault, studied the water-inrush mechanism by using the numerical software COMSOL Mutiphysics, analyzed the change rule of shear stress, vertical stress, plastic area and water pressure for stope with a fault, and estimated the water-inrush risk at the different distances between working faces and the fault. The numerical simula- tion results indicate that: (1) the water-inrush risk will grow as the decrease of the distance between working face and the fault; (2) the failure mode of the rock in floor with fault is shear failure; (3) the rock between water-containing fault and working face failure is the reason for water-inrush.展开更多

The catchment’s geology is early Miocene to Pliocene sedimentary bedrock of partly high permeability, accompanied by currently active faults. Daily evapotranspiration, E, in water balance was calculated by applying the one-layer model to meteorological data in the rainfall season of 2011 and 2012, with the topographic influence on heat balance of the catchment considered. The coupling with the short-term water balance method for river runoff events allows us to estimate groundwater leaking to the other catchments through the faults and bedrock. As a result, the leakage corresponded to 50% - 80% of effective rainfall (=P - E: P, rainfall) in 2011, whereas it was lower or negative in 2012. The estimate of leakage then included variability of ca. 80%. In 2012, shallow groundwater storage seems to retain high baseflow during non-rainfall.展开更多

To forecast water disaster, an effective aquifuge and a limit of water infiltration were determined by rock-phase analysis and long term observations of surface water and groundwater. By field monitoring, as well as physical and numerical simulation experiments, we obtained data reflecting different heights of a water flow fractured zone (WFFZ) under different mining conditions, derived a formula to calculate this height and built a forecasting model with the aid of GIS. On the basis of these activities, the coal mine area was classified into three sub-areas with different potential of water inrush. In the end, our research results have been applied in and verified by industrial mining experiments at three working faces and we were able to present a successful example of coal mining under a large reservoir.展开更多

文摘It is very important to determine the extent of the fractured zone through which water can flow before coal mining under the water bodies. This paper deals with methods to obtain information about overburden rock failure and the development of the fractured zone while coal mining in Xin'an Coal Mine. The risk of water inrush in this mine is great because 40%of the mining area is under the Xiaolangdi reservoir.Numerical simulations combined with geophysical methods were used in this paper to obtain the development law of the fractured zone under different mining conditions. The comprehensive geophysical method described in this paper has been demonstrated to accurately predict the height of the water-flow fractured zone. Results from the new model, which created from the results of numerical simulations and field measurements, were successfully used for making decisions in the Xin'an Coal Mine when mining under the Xiaolangdi Reservoir.Industrial scale experiments at the number 11201,14141 and 14191 working faces were safely carried out. These achievements provide a successful background for the evaluation and application of coal mining under large reservoirs.

文摘Given previous research and prototypical geological conditions of a mining workface,we simulated fis-sure development in clay layers at the bottom of Quaternary strata and above bedrock, sand and water inrush during mining by model experiments. Under an instantaneous water head, the greatest ability of the cracked clay to avoid drastic water inflow is a little higher than that under static conditions.

文摘Dongjiahe Coal Mine belongs to the Carboniferous Permian coal field which has a high degree of karst and fissure development. This paper takes the working face of Dongjiahe Coal Mine as an example;through the microseismic(MS)monitoring system arranged on the working face, the moment tensor theory was used to invert the focal mechanism solution of the anomalous area of the floor MS event;combining the numerical simulation and field data, the underlying floor faults were identified by the stress inversion method. The results show that:1)Moment tensors were decomposed into three components and the main type of rupture in this area is mixed failure according to the relative criterion;2)The hidden fault belongs to the reversed fault, its dip angle is approximately 70°,and the rupture length is 21 m determined by the inversion method of the initial dynamic polarity and stress in the focal mechanism;3)The failure process of the fault is divided into three stages by numerical simulation method combined with the temporal and spatial distribution of MS events. The results can provide a reference for early warning and evaluation of similar coal mine water inrush risks.

文摘About 75% water-inrush accidents in China are caused by geological structure such as faults, therefore, it is necessary to investigate the water-inrush mechanism of faults to provide references for the mining activity above confined water. The numerical simula- tion results indicate that: (1) the water-inrush risk will grow as the decrease of the distance between working face and the fault; (2) the failure mode of the rock in floor with fault is shear failure; (3) the rock between water-containing fault and working face failure is the reason for water-inrush.
文摘In order to clarify how groundwater leakage and river runoff occur in a catchment under tectonic movement, the water balance was estimated in the forested (88.3% in area) Oikamanai River catchment (area, 62.6 km2), Hokkaido, Japan. 80%. In 2012, shallow groundwater storage seems to retain high baseflow during non-rainfall.

文摘This paper mainly deals with the present situation, characteristics, and countermeasures of cooling in deep mines.Given existing problems in coal mines, a HEMS cooling technology is proposed and has been successfully applied in some mines.Because of long-term exploitation, shallow buried coal seams have become exhausted and most coal mines have had to exploit deep buried coal seams. With the increase in mining depth, the temperature of the surrounding rock also increases, resulting in ever increasing risks of heat hazard during mining operations. At present, coal mines in China can be divided into three groups, i.e., normal temperature mines, middle-to-high temperature mines and high temperature mines, based on our investigation into high temperature coal mines in four provinces and on in-situ studies of several typical mines. The principle of HEMS is to extract cold energy from mine water inrush.Based on the characteristics of strata temperature field and on differences in the amounts of mine water inrush in the Xuzhou mining area, we proposed three models for controlling heat hazard in deep mines:1) the Jiahe model with a moderate source of cold energy;2) the Sanhejian model with a shortage of source of cold energy and a geothermal anomaly and 3) the Zhangshuanglou model with plenty of source of cold energy. The cooling process of HEMS applied in deep coal mine are as follows:1) extract cold energy from mine water inrush to cool working faces;2) use the heat extracted by HEMS to supply heat to buildings and bath water to replace the use of a boiler, a useful energy saving and environmental protection measure.HEMS has been applied in the Jiahe and Sanhejian coal mines in Xuzhou, which enabled the temperature and humidity at the working faces to be well controlled.

文摘Xin’an coal mine, Henan Province, faces the risk of water inrush because 40% of the area of the coal mine is under the surface water of the Xiaolangdi reservoir. In the end, our research results have been applied in and verified by industrial mining experiments at three working faces and we were able to present a successful example of coal mining under a large reservoir.
