But the worshipping seems much more pleasant at the Sepa Monastery which is hidden in deep mountains on the right bank of Tongtian River—the upper reach section of the Yangtze, in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province. A closer observation can tell that the pleasant feeling comes from the brightness inside the main hall of the monastery, as well as from the lush woods around its buildings, which present a sweet greenness rarely seen展开更多

Economic factor is one of the main elements that people of the early nineteenth century considered when deciding a marriage. The pursuit of economic interest results in the advent of some tragic marriages while now it is a side reason. However, women today have made great advancement in education background, employment situation and social status. Women gradually have their economic ability, autonomy and social status. Hence, they began to lay emphasis on the equality and sense of happiness. This is why the views on marriage vary in different eras. This paper, based on the view of marriage from the nineteenth- century English novel Pride and Pejudice, is dedicated to elucidating the changes and improvements of view on marriage from feminist perspective via comparing and contrasting the similarities and the differences of people's view on marriage between the early 1800 s and modern times, and then draws a conclusion that the women's degree of receptive education can influence their social status and view on marriage. In modern times the view on marriage based on equality attribute to the sense of happiness of a family and the degree of satisfaction of marriage.展开更多

The reason that Buddhism in the Han area in Chinese history universally adopted Mahayana independent of man’s will was that the Mahayana spirit of altruism, benefiting society, compassion, and liberation of the world, in comparison with Hinayana Buddhism’s emphasis of benefiting and liberating the self, was more compatible with the demands of the development of Chinese society at the time. It could be said that the spirit of Mahayana Bodhisattva Path that emphasizes helping living beings and benefiting the world, and the Chan philosophy that focuses on the nature of the mind and pays attention to real life, are indeed the philosophical features of Chinese Buddhism. Chinese Buddhism(the Chan school in particular) has been greatly influenced by the Confucian thoughts, which have been the mainstream ideology of China. Its success in fusing with and absorbing the Confucian thoughts is a paragon even in the development history of human culture. Humanistic Buddhism(renjian fojiao 人间佛教) in modern times inherited and promoted the tradition of Chan Buddhism to stress real life, and an important aspect of Venerable Master Taixu’s(太虚) reform is to turn the Buddha-oriented tradition of Buddhism to the human-oriented.展开更多

The key plan that spurred this process of linking the old city with the West Lake was a plan titled "Building a New Market"(1914). By elucidating the time, process, and contents of the plan, this paper analyzes the spatial transformation of the lakefront districts based on old maps, and then interprets how it led the forming process of the "city-lake integrated" urban form in Hangzhou.展开更多
