Compared to the conventional above-band pump, in our new scheme an additional resonant driving field is applied on the quantum dot-cavity system. By employing the master equation theory and the Jaynes-Cummings model, we are able to study the interesting phenomenon of the coupling system. To compare the different behaviors between using our new scheme and the conventional method,we carry out investigatioin for both the 'good system'and 'more realistic system', characterizing several important parameters, such as the cavity population, exciton population and the second-order correlation function at zero time delay. Through numerical simulations,we demonstrate that for both the good system and more realistic system, their lasing regimes can be displaced into other regimes in the presence of a resonant driving field.展开更多

Using orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing based on offset QAM(OFDM/OQAM) which is modulated with m-QAM modulations, we demonstrate low-penalty data transmission of OFDM/OQAM 64-QAM, 128-QAM, 256-QAM, and 512-QAM signals in a silicon microring resonator. The observed optical signal-to-noise ratio(OSNR) penalties are 1.7 dB for 64-QAM,1.7 dB for 128-QAM, and 3.1 dB for 256-QAM at a bit-error rate(BER) of 2 × 10^(-3) and 3.3 dB for 512-QAM at a BER of 2 × 10^(-2). The performance degradation due to the wavelength detuning from the microring resonance is evaluated, showing a wavelength range of ~0.48 nm with BER below 2 × 10^(-3). Moreover, we demonstrate data transmission of 191.2-Gbit/s simultaneous eight wavelength channel OFDM/OQAM 256-QAM signals in a silicon microring resonator, achieving OSNR penalties less than 2 dB at a BER of 2 × 10^(-2).展开更多

In this paper, four special-shaped 8-quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) constellations are investigated in a single-carrier VLC system. It is numerically verified and experimentally demonstrated that circular(7,1) shows obvious superiority in the performance of the dynamic range of signal voltage peak-to-peak(vpp) value and bit error rate(BER). Next best is rectangular, followed by triangular; circular(4,4) has the worst performance. A data rate of 1.515 Gbit/s is successfully achieved by circular(7,1) employing a red chip LED over 0.5 m indoor free space transmission below a BER threshold of3.8 × 10^(-3). Compared with circular(4,4), the traditional 8-QAM constellation, circular(7,1) provides a wider dynamic range of signal vpp, a higher data rate, and a longer transmission distance. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first investigation into the performance differences of special-shaped 8-QAM constellations in a highspeed, single-carrier VLC system, and the results comprehensively demonstrate that circular(7,1) is the optimal option.展开更多

The current vs. voltage (I-V) characteristic based on the Lambert W-function was used. The estimation parameters for the simulation approach of the photovoltaic (PV) module make use of Levenberg-Marquardt method. It was considered an industrial polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) module and the simulated results were compared with the experimental ones extracted from a specific datasheet. The I-V characteristic for the analysed PV module and its maximum output power are investigated for different operating conditions of incident solar radiation flux and temperature, as well as parameters related to the solar cells material and technology (series resistance, shunt resistance and gamma factor). The analysis gives indications and limitations for design and optimization of the performance for industrial PV modules. This study can be implemented in any type of PV module.展开更多
