However, in the given environment, the real usefulness to perform work is determined by exergy. This study covers not only solar, but also any monochromatic thermal radiation. The value of such radiation was determined by its exergy and the ratio of its exergy-to-energy. A novelty in this work is to demonstrate by means of exergy that the usefulness of thermal polychromatic radiation can be increased by its dispersion to monochromatic radiation. This effect is the greater, the lower the temperature of the radiation. Analogies of this effect to the exergetic effect of gas separation have been indicated. The effect of the increase in exergy in the process of radiation dispersion was interpreted by means of a cylinder-piston system that explains this effect with the influence of environmental radiation. The concept of quasi-monochromatic and cumulated radiation was introduced into dispersion considerations and the change in the energetic, entropic and environmental components of the exergy of radiation beams was analyzed. Considerations were illustrated with appropriate examples of calculations considering dispersion of high-temperature radiation, such as extraterrestrial solar radiation and dispersion of low-temperature radiation from water vapor.展开更多

It is supposed that dusty gas be a mixture of perfect gas and micro solid particles. Equilibrium flow condition is supposed to be maintained and energy is varying which is continuously supplied by inner expanding surface. It is found that similarity solution exists under the constant initial density. The comparison between the solutions obtained in gravitating and non-gravitating medium is done. It is found that the shock strength increases with an increase in gravitational parameter or ratio of the density of solid particles to the initial density of the gas, whereas an increase in the radiation parameter has decaying effect on the shock waves.展开更多

The dusty gas is taken to be a mixture of small solid particles and perfect gas,and solid particles are continuously distributed in the mixture. The similarity solutions are obtained and the effects of the variation of the radiation parameter, the ratio of the density of solid particles to the initial density of the gas, the mass concentration of solid particles in the mixture and the index for the time dependent energy law are investigated. It is observed that an increase in the radiation parameter has decaying effect on the shock waves; whereas the shock strength increases with an increase in the ratio of the density of solid particles to the initial density of the gas or the index for the time dependent energy law. Also, it is found that an increase in the radiation parameter has effect to decrease the flow variables except the density and the azimuthal component of fluid velocity. A comparison is also made between rotating and non-rotating cases.展开更多

The entire structure is a cascade PC consisting of a number of elements of the structure--single PCs connected in series and illuminated by light that has consistently passed through the previous semiconductor layers. The theory of converter of both monochromatic and solar radiation has been developed and the limiting values of their photoelectric and power characteristics have been determined, including the optimal thickness and number of single PCs layered on a base PC, their spectral sensitivity, current-voltage characteristics and efficiency. The open-circuit voltage grows practically linearly with the number of elements in the cascade. The top efficiency limit for a certain optimal elements number reaches its maximum that exceeds considerably that of the base PC, especially in the range of low collecting coefficient of charge carriers in the base PC.展开更多
