In this study the interaction between Fermi sphere and Brillouin zone and Hume-Rothery condition of phase stability have been verified. It is found that by increasing valence electron concentration VEC the diameter of Fermi sphere 2kF increases which leads to the increase in the diameter of Brillouin zone which arises from the decrease in volume of the unit cell. It is found that the electrical resistivity increases by increasing VEC due to the decrease in relaxation time τ with increasing VEC. Also it has been confirmed that the correlation between Young’s modulus and the axial ratio c/a of β-Sn unit cell.展开更多
The objective of this study was to assess the clinical evidence for or against mood stabilizers as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease (AD).We searched 5 databases from their inception to January 2010.Five randomized...The objective of this study was to assess the clinical evidence for or against mood stabilizers as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease (AD).We searched 5 databases from their inception to January 2010.Five randomized clinical trials of mood stabilizers to treat human patients suffering from AD were included.These trials assessed the effectiveness of mood stabilizers as an adjunct treatment to conventional anti-dementia drugs on behavioral and psychological symptoms, especially on agitation.Methodological quality was assessed using the Jadad score.The results suggested a significant effect in favor of placebo on the Mini-Mental Status Examination [n=270, weight mean difference (WMD), -0.89; 95% confidence intervals (CIs) -1.69 to -0.09, P=0.03] and on the Neuropsychiatric Inventory total (NPI total) (n=51, WMD, 3.71; 95% CIs 0.15 to 7.26, P=0.04).There were no significant differences in change scores on total Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS total), NPI/BPRS agitation, Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory total and Physical Self Maintenance Scale between mood stabilizers and placebo.Only one of these studies was free of methodological limittions (Jadad score=5).In conclusion, based on the existing evidence, mood stabilizers are ineffective or even harmful as a treatment for AD.展开更多
The development of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) marks a significant advancement in the field of sustainable and environmentally friendly energy storage.To address the challenges faced by singlephase vanadium-bas...The development of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) marks a significant advancement in the field of sustainable and environmentally friendly energy storage.To address the challenges faced by singlephase vanadium-based oxides,such as poor conductivity and dissolution in electrolytes,this study introduces vacuum S/N doping to fabricate V_(2)O_(3)/VO_(2)@S/N-C nanofibers,improving the cycling stability and enhancing the capacity.The V_(2)O_(3)/VO_(2)@S/N-C electrode exhibits exceptional cyclic stability,retaining a capacity of 133.3 m A h g^(-1)after 30,000 cycles at a high current density of 100 A g^(-1)and a capacity retention of 81.8%after 150,000 cycles at 200 A g^(-1).Characterizations using ex-situ X-ray diffraction and ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal co-intercalation of H^(+)and Zn^(2+)in the V_(2)O_(3)/VO_(2)@S/N-C electrode.Due to the presence of S_(2)^(2-),more phases changed to V_(10)O_(24).12H_(2)O,making the V_(2)O_(3)/VO_(2)@S/N-C electrode better reversible.By elucidating the zinc storage mechanism and demonstrating the stable performance of the doped electrode,this work contributes valuable insights into the optimization of the electrode materials for future energy storage solutions.展开更多

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disord...Introduction: In the last thirty years, brain neuromodulation techniques have been used as an alternative to pharmacological treatment of neurological disorders. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder leading to bradykinesia, rest tremor, postural changes, and non-motor symptoms such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, pain, and cognitive decline that compromises executive functions (EFs), responsible for the orderly execution of behaviors and tasks of daily life and intentional and directed actions. To this date, a few studies with transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) have shown beneficial effects in PD patients concerning specific motor and non-motor symptoms, targeting the motor cortex and/or prefrontal regions. Objective: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of left prefrontal tDCS across a broad spectrum of motor and non-motor symptoms of PD using established validated scales. Method: Single-blind randomized clinical trial with 18 volunteers with PD, aged between 45 and 80 years (66.1 ± 9.65), who met inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants were submitted to assessments of motor and non-motor functions employing psychometric scales and tests to evaluate EFs and were randomly divided into two groups: control (sham stimulation) and experimental (active stimulation). All participants were involved in three separate tDCS sessions. The anode was positioned over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the cathode over the right supraorbital region, with a direct current intensity of 2 mA, lasting 20 minutes. At the end of the three sessions, all participants were reassessed. Results: Significant effects of tDCS on non-motor functions were observed for cognition (verbal fluency of actions, clock copy test, appointment by visual confrontation, and verbal memory with immediate free recall) and subjective assessment of sleep quality (overall restlessness and discomfort in the arms and legs at night, leg and arm cramps at night and distressing dreams). There was also an improvement in the rate of errors and successes for congruent and incongruent stimuli of the Stroop Test. The beneficial effects on motor function were decreased rigidity, improved gait, and greater agility in the finger-tapping test. Conclusion: Three tDCS sessions showed positive results for participants with PD, producing significant improvements in various motor and non-motor functions, including sleep quality, cognition, and EFs. Additionally, the present results indicate that tDCS neuromodulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex region is feasible, safe, and provides significant objective benefits for PD patients.展开更多

METHODS: A t...AIM: To assess whether depression and anxiety are more expressed in patients with the first episode of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than in individuals with newly discovered cancer of the colon (CCa). METHODS: A total of 32 patients with IBD including 13 males and 19 females, aged 27 to 74, and 30 patients with CCa including 20 males and 10 females, aged 39-78, underwent a structured interview, which comprised Hamilton’s Depression Rating Inventory, Hamilton’s Anxiety Rating Inventory and Paykel’s Stressful Events Rating Scale. RESULTS: Patients of the IBD group expressed both depression and anxiety. Depressive mood, sense of guilt, psychomotor retardation and somatic anxiety were also more pronounced in IBD patients. The discriminant function analysis revealed the total depressive score was of high importance for the classification of a newly diagnosed patient into one of the groups. CONCLUSION: Newly diagnosed patients with IBD have higher levels of depression and anxiety. Moreover, a psychiatrist in the treatment team is advisable from the beginning.展开更多

This study provides the first evidence of early alterations in performance induced by...Deep brain stimulation is a therapy for Alzheimer's disease(AD) that has previously been used for mainly mild to moderate cases. This study provides the first evidence of early alterations in performance induced by stimulation targeted at the fornix in severe AD patients. The performance of the five cases enrolled in this study was scored with specialized assessments including the Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating, both before and at an early stage after deep brain stimulation. The burden of caregivers was also evaluated using the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview. As a whole, the cognitive performance of patients remained stable or improved to varying degrees, and caregiver burden was decreased. Individually, an improved mental state or social performance was observed in three patients, and one of these three patients showed remarkable improvement in long-term memory. The conditions of another patient deteriorated because of inappropriate antipsychotic medications that were administered by his caregivers. Taken together, deep brain stimulation was capable of improving some cognitive aspects in patients with severe AD, and of ameliorating their emotional and social performance, at least at an early stage. However, long-term effects induced by deep brain stimulation in patients with severe AD need to be further validated. More research should focus on clarifying the mechanism of deep brain stimulation. Huntington’s disease(HD)is a genetic neurodegenerative disorder that affects not only the motor but also the cognitive domain.In particular,cognitive symptoms such as impaired executive skills and deficits in recogni...Huntington’s disease(HD)is a genetic neurodegenerative disorder that affects not only the motor but also the cognitive domain.In particular,cognitive symptoms such as impaired executive skills and deficits in recognizing other individuals’mental state may emerge many years before the motor symptoms.This study was aimed at testing two cognitive hypotheses suggested by previous research with a new Stroop task created for the purpose:1)the impairment of emotion recognition in HD is moderated by the emotions’valence,and 2)inhibitory control is impaired in HD.Forty manifest and 20 pre-manifest HD patients and their age-and gender-matched controls completed both the traditional“Stroop Color and Word Test”(SCWT)and the newly created“Stroop Emotion Recognition under Word Interference Task”(SERWIT),which consist in 120 photographs of sad,calm,or happy faces with either congruent or incongruent word interference.On the SERWIT,impaired emotion recognition in manifest HD was moderated by emotion type,with deficits being larger in recognizing sadness and calmness than in recognizing happiness,but it was not moderated by stimulus congruency.On the SCWT,six different interference scores yielded as many different patterns of group effects.Overall our results corroborate the hypothesis that impaired emotion recognition in HD is moderated by the emotions’valence,but do not provide evidence for the hypothesis that inhibitory control is impaired in HD.Further research is needed to learn more about the psychological mechanisms underlying the moderating effect of emotional valence on impaired emotion recognition in HD,and to corroborate the hypothesis that the inhibitory processes involved in Stroop tasks are not impaired in HD.Looking beyond this study,the SERWIT promises to make important contributions to disentangling the cognitive and the psychomotor aspects of neurological disorders.The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the“Istituto Leonarda Vaccari”,Rome on January 24,2018.展开更多

Then through the space dimension reduction projections, the Gell-Mann standard model was obtained as well as a quantum to Classical connection was made via introducing Bose distribution to the monopoles to obtain the Perelman entropy and Ricci Flow mappings. This provided us a picture to the creation of Astronomical objects, from galaxies to stars and planets. This method of splitting the monopole energy into ranges is extended to show that below the basic rest mass range of the electron and Quark, it still can be applied to explaining for the creation of the chemical elements periodic table. But perhaps the most interesting is in the lowest hundreds of Hz energy range, obtained from yet another 3 fold space symmetry breaking, into 2D × 1D, producing bio nitrogenous bases composed of 3 Carbon 12 in hexagon structures, due to preservation of the 1D monopole standing waves of this low frequencies. From that by imposing gauge changes the monopole states into DNA spectra. Since such spectra states retain the DLRO, it induces formation of charge carriers periodicity in a spherical bio cell.. It was then argued that due to cell’s surface proteins, the structure must contain partial filled VB, with “p” state hole density, and empty CB, separated from VB by a positive band gap. Such band structures resemble known HTC Cuprate ceramics. Since the HTC goes through a Superconductivity transition via the simultaneous bose exciton condensation, providing a Coulomb pressure, which reduces the band gap substantially, and induces the ODLRO transition of the hole density. The same obviously applies to the bio cells. Because of the near continuous exciton levels generated, a matching to the DNA spectra then can always occur by selective choices of proteins on the cell surface. Judging from a numerical study, we did years ago on YBCO, with doping. We found with a large enough VB hole density, the exciton induced superconducting gap can easily lead to <em>T</em><em>c</em> in the room temperature range. In fact by EMF excitation can increase the exciton pressure and trigger the ODLRO transition <em>T</em><em>c</em> upward. In fact, numerical results then suggest there do exist coherent EMF spectra from three key elements: Water, Carbon and Hydrogen, together with Oxygen, as studied over the years by numerous people, starting from Schr<span style="white-space:nowrap;">ö</span>dinger to most recently Geesink.展开更多

The root-mean-square matter radius (Rrms) was deduced to be (2.92±0.10) fro, while the Rrras of the core and the valence neutron distribution are 2.28 fm and 5.98 fm respectively. Assuming a "core plus 2n11 structure in 17B, the mixed configuration of (2s1/2) and (1d5/2) of the valence neutrons is studied and the s-wave spectroscopic factor is found to be (80±21)%.展开更多

文摘Huntington’s disease(HD)is a genetic neurodegenerative disorder that affects not only the motor but also the cognitive domain.In particular,cognitive symptoms such as impaired executive skills and deficits in recognizing other individuals’mental state may emerge many years before the motor symptoms.This study was aimed at testing two cognitive hypotheses suggested by previous research with a new Stroop task created for the purpose:1)the impairment of emotion recognition in HD is moderated by the emotions’valence,and 2)inhibitory control is impaired in HD.Forty manifest and 20 pre-manifest HD patients and their age-and gender-matched controls completed both the traditional“Stroop Color and Word Test”(SCWT)and the newly created“Stroop Emotion Recognition under Word Interference Task”(SERWIT),which consist in 120 photographs of sad,calm,or happy faces with either congruent or incongruent word interference.On the SERWIT,impaired emotion recognition in manifest HD was moderated by emotion type,with deficits being larger in recognizing sadness and calmness than in recognizing happiness,but it was not moderated by stimulus congruency.On the SCWT,six different interference scores yielded as many different patterns of group effects.Overall our results corroborate the hypothesis that impaired emotion recognition in HD is moderated by the emotions’valence,but do not provide evidence for the hypothesis that inhibitory control is impaired in HD.Further research is needed to learn more about the psychological mechanisms underlying the moderating effect of emotional valence on impaired emotion recognition in HD,and to corroborate the hypothesis that the inhibitory processes involved in Stroop tasks are not impaired in HD.Looking beyond this study,the SERWIT promises to make important contributions to disentangling the cognitive and the psychomotor aspects of neurological disorders.The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the“Istituto Leonarda Vaccari”,Rome on January 24,2018.

Utilizing Vroom’s Expectancy Theory as the framework, the research assesses the responses of 375 nurse assistant students in the state of Illinois to evaluate the self-report of the constructs of Vroom’s Expectancy theory in relation to their performance on a standardized high stakes test.
文摘Modification of a surface of strontium titanate single crystals as pure as doped with Mn (Ni) or Nd (Sm) ions after plasma treatment was studied by combination of scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy techniques. Valence shift method for characteristic X ray lines was used for study of stoichiometry violation and oxidation state of ions on the crystals surface after plasma treatment. One-and two-level ordered systems of unit crystallites sized of about 10-7 – 10-10 m were discovered on samples surface after plasma treatment with energy density of about 5 - 20 (40) J.cm-2. Oxidation state of Ti ions and stoichiometry of the surface changed essentially on background of high stability of strontium ions valence.
文摘This paper attempts to conduct a comparative study on Obama’s two speeches—his second inaugural address and his commencement speech in The Ohio State University in 2013 based on Halliday’s theory of Interpersonal Function.The author finds that mood,modality and personal pronouns are the major language means used to realize the interpersonal function;in his two speeches,Obama makes different choices of those resources,and different choices indicate different attitudes and intentions.
文摘In this paper, we briefly go over the homogeneous 5D model field theory: from the 5D space-time inception, to its quantum field solutions given in terms of Higgs vacuum, filled with magnetic monopole bose fields of all energies. Then through the space dimension reduction projections, the Gell-Mann standard model was obtained as well as a quantum to Classical connection was made via introducing Bose distribution to the monopoles to obtain the Perelman entropy and Ricci Flow mappings. This provided us a picture to the creation of Astronomical objects, from galaxies to stars and planets. This method of splitting the monopole energy into ranges is extended to show that below the basic rest mass range of the electron and Quark, it still can be applied to explaining for the creation of the chemical elements periodic table. But perhaps the most interesting is in the lowest hundreds of Hz energy range, obtained from yet another 3 fold space symmetry breaking, into 2D × 1D, producing bio nitrogenous bases composed of 3 Carbon 12 in hexagon structures, due to preservation of the 1D monopole standing waves of this low frequencies. From that by imposing gauge changes the monopole states into DNA spectra. Since such spectra states retain the DLRO, it induces formation of charge carriers periodicity in a spherical bio cell.. It was then argued that due to cell’s surface proteins, the structure must contain partial filled VB, with “p” state hole density, and empty CB, separated from VB by a positive band gap. Such band structures resemble known HTC Cuprate ceramics. Since the HTC goes through a Superconductivity transition via the simultaneous bose exciton condensation, providing a Coulomb pressure, which reduces the band gap substantially, and induces the ODLRO transition of the hole density. The same obviously applies to the bio cells. Because of the near continuous exciton levels generated, a matching to the DNA spectra then can always occur by selective choices of proteins on the cell surface. Judging from a numerical study, we did years ago on YBCO, with doping. We found with a large enough VB hole density, the exciton induced superconducting gap can easily lead to <em>T</em><em>c</em> in the room temperature range. In fact by EMF excitation can increase the exciton pressure and trigger the ODLRO transition <em>T</em><em>c</em> upward. In fact, numerical results then suggest there do exist coherent EMF spectra from three key elements: Water, Carbon and Hydrogen, together with Oxygen, as studied over the years by numerous people, starting from Schr<span style="white-space:nowrap;">ö</span>dinger to most recently Geesink.

文摘The reaction cross section of 17B on 12C target at (43.7±2.4) MeV/u has been measured at the Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou (RIBLL). The root-mean-square matter radius (Rrms) was deduced to be (2.92±0.10) fro, while the Rrras of the core and the valence neutron distribution are 2.28 fm and 5.98 fm respectively. Assuming a "core plus 2n11 structure in 17B, the mixed configuration of (2s1/2) and (1d5/2) of the valence neutrons is studied and the s-wave spectroscopic factor is found to be (80±21)%.
