Questionnaires and an interview were used to gather information from students and teachers at Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (IKIP) Mataram. Qualitative information also came from documents and some were derived from language theories. Analysis indicated that the formation of character education should consider local language as its component part;the cooperation of mother tongue into character education could be of assistance to preserving local languages from disappearance. The study was restricted to a small scale research and the analysis was developed within the context of IKIP Mataram. The findings would help to have a better understanding of the significance of mother tongue in character formation, to recommend character education as model of future education. The study was originally based on the primary information and had never been sent for publication. The results could be of benefit to those who are of interest to research into teaching.展开更多

It possesses special attribute in sociology and disaster science. In accordance with human activities, geomorphologic location, behavior and particular, the man-induced sediment disaster can be divided into 4 types: the drainage network, slope and gully, channel and plain-estuary-coastline. Each type includes erosion, transportation, accumulation, complexity and cascading. Based on human activity, geomorphology, sediment mechanics and catastrophology, the man-induced sediment disaster is characterized as follows: (1) accelerating tendency with geographical zoning back-ground; (2) non-order characters by blind action without special technical training; (3) gradually and sharply changing with human environment vibration; and (4) complexity and non-linear figure, etc. One of the reasons leading to man-induced sediment disaster is human environment vibration.展开更多

The origins of enhancement and improvement are discussed. Probably the distortion and the defect of crystals are decreased by the substitution of Gd^3+ for Y^3+ instead of Eu^3+ for Y^3+ , and thus the Eu^3+ crystal field is improved, and radiationless process and energy loss resulted from crystal defect are weakened, which leads to increased luminescence intensity and voltage character improvement. The overlapping fluorescent spectra of Y2O2S: Sm^3+ emission and Y2O2S:Eu^3+ excitation as well as Eu^3 + excitation spectra transitions spectra lead to energy transfer from Sm^3 + sensitization of Sm^3+ ions fectively. containing Sm^3+ excitation the possibility of resonance ions to Eu^3+ ions, and the to Eu^3+ ions is achieved effectively.展开更多

The objective is to study the influence of the addition of bamboo fibers on the thermophysical properties of the material, while verifying that it complies with the mechanical standards in Cameroon. A double study is therefore carried out: a mechanical characterization whose objective is to determine the mechanical properties (compressive strength, flexural strength and Young’s modulus) and a thermophysical characterization whose objective is to determine the thermal conductivity. For the thermophysical characterization, the asymmetric hot plane experimental setup based on 1D quadrupole modelling was developed and simulated for the estimation of thermal effusivity E and volume heat capacity ρCp. The obtained experimental results show that the apparent thermal conductivity of the developed materials decreases with increasing fibers. Although the reference material (0% fibers) has a much higher conductivity than the ordinary sand block (1.15 Wm-1 K-1), the addition of fibers, already at 2%, contributes to decrease this conductivity (0.95 Wm-1 K-1). From the point of view of thermal insulation and energy savings, the thermal conductivity results obtained show that the use of these materials with a maximum fibercontent of 6% would be a better thermal insulator than sand block or compressed earth brick. The compressive strength obtained is such that Rc > 0.6 MPa. All the materials developed meet the design standards when used as infill.展开更多

Poor knowledge among mothers about the care requirements of a preterm neonate is immediate cause for post-discharge medical problems in premature and neonates readmission to NICU. Hence, this study aims to evaluate mothers’ knowledge of caring for premature infants post-discharge from Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the Gaza strip. Methods: A Quantitative-based cross-sectional designs study was used to survey 120 mothers of preterm neonates at the time of preterm neonates discharge by face-to-face interview at Al-Shifa medical complex and Nasser hospital between February and June 2018. Results: The results showed that only about 58.4% of mothers of premature babies had good knowledge about health care needed for premature infants after discharge from NICU. Furthermore, there was no statistically significant difference between the level of knowledge and mother’s sociodemographic characteristics (P-values > 0.05). Conclusion: Mothers’ knowledge of premature infants care was not at the optimal level, which might put the newborns at risk. Therefore, the study emphasizes the necessity of thoughtful exchange of health information between team members and mothers and establishing pre- and post-discharge plans with mothers to start their healthy transition of preterm neonate to home and to ameliorate family concerns.展开更多

However, regular television watching by child’s mother and its impact on excess weight gain or overweight and obesity to their offspring is not reported elsewhere. The aim of the present analysis was to determine the socio-demographic characteristics among overweight and obese children based on those mothers who watch television regularly and compare this finding with malnourished and well-nourished under-5 children. A total of 20,800 under-5 children were enrolled during 1996 to 2012 in the Diarrheal Disease Surveillance System (DDSS) of Dhaka Hospital of International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b). Mean weight-for-age z-score (–1.61 vs. –2.30;mean difference: ?0.69;p < 0.001), height-for-age z-score (–1.42 vs. –1.99;–0.57;<0.001), weight-for-height z-score (–1.59 vs. –1.07;–0.53;<0.001), BMI-for-age z-score (–1.09 vs. –1.61, –0.52;<0.001) differed significantly between the children whose mother did and did not watch television regularly. Under-5 children whose mother watched television regularly (2%) compared to those who did not (1%), had 2.28 [(95% CI-1.61 - 3.24) p < 0.001] times increased odds of being overweight and obese. Television watching of mothers is associated with childhood overweight and obesity and is one of the most public health concerns in Bangladesh. These changes may be in part of better socio-economic condition, changes in life style behaviour and dietary pattern.展开更多
