In this study, rat models of focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury were treated with suspended moxibustion at acupoint Dazhui (DU14) for 35 minutes. Results showed that suspended moxibustion decreased infarct volume, reduced cortical myeloperoxidase activity, and suppressed serum levels of proinflammatory cytokines in rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Our experimental findings indicated that heat-sensitive moxibustion can attenuate inflammation and promote repair after focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.展开更多

At present, western medicine doctors generally adopt anti-infectives and immunomodulators to treat the disease, while traditional Chinese medicine doctors mainly administer decoction of Chinese herbs. The authors treated 46 cases of repeated respiratory tract infection from March 1990 to April 1996 by applying mild-moxibustion over points on the back with satisfactory therapeutic results. A report follows.Clinical Data All the 86 cases were outpatients in our hospital with duration of common cold for over 10 days and characterized by relapse of respiratory tract infection. There were over 7-time relapse of respiratory tract infection on each case within a year. Eighty-six cases were randomly divided into treatment group (46 cases) and control group (40 cases). Of the 46 cases in the treatment group, 22 were boys and 24 girls. 17 cases (36.9%) were 6 months to 4 years old, 18 (39.1%) 4 to 6 years, and 11 (23.9%) 6 to 12 years. Among the 40 cases in the control group, 19 cases were boys and 21 girls.展开更多

Suspended moxibustion, an indirect form of moxibustion, is when moxibustion is placed superficially over the skin without being in contact with it. Some researchers have used this method to treat stroke patients, but strong evidence of its therapeutic effectiveness is lacking. However, the effect of traditional suspended moxibustion has recently been improved with the development of heat-sensitive suspended moxibustion. Our previous studies showed that moxibustion for 35 min provided a more effective treatment strategy than moxibustion for 15 min, and moxibustion by 35 min with tail temperature increase had a better outcome than that without, however, the mechanism underlying the effect is not clear. In this study, we treated the stroke rats with moxibustion by 35min and divided them into non-heat sensitive moxibustion(NHSM) group and heat sensitive moxibustion (HSM) group according to difference in the tail temperature increase, then we compared the effect and investigated the mechanisms between NHSM and HSM. We found that HSM significantly decreased tail-flick latency, increased neurological function score, decreased infarct volume, reduced inflammatory cells, decreased the expression of inflammatory factor ICAM-1 and reduced the expression of NF-κB p65 and p-IKKα/β in rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Our experimental findings revealed that HSM exerted its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects from MCAO-induced injury by decreasing the expression of the NF-κB signaling pathway.展开更多

文摘Ischemic stroke is universally acknowledged as a common cause of long-term disability or even death. Our experimental findings revealed that HSM exerted its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects from MCAO-induced injury by decreasing the expression of the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Compari-son made in 138 cases revealed that the first group was very satisfactory, the cured rate being 100%,that of the 2nd and 3rd groups were 91. 3% and 82. 35% respectively. Statistical treatment revealedP【0.05 with significant difference between the first and second groups, P value between the firstand third groups was P【0.01, with very significant difference. There was no significant differencebetween the 2nd and 3rd groups, P】0.05.
文摘Therapeutic effect of bronchisl asthma treated With CO2 laser irradiating points was ob-served.Ninety-six cases of bronchial asthma, that were considered cold and insufficiency type accord-ing to TCM,were divided into two groups:one treated with CO2 laser irradiation at Tiantu(CV 22),Danzhong(CV 17),Feishu(BL13)and Dingchuan(EX-BI)(n=48),and the other with warmmoxibustion at same points(n=48).The symptoms, physical signs and pulmonary ventilation(PEF.VC,FEV1.0,FEV1%and MMEF)were taken as parameter.xhe results showed that thetherapeutic effect In laser irradiation group was better than that in moxibustion group. Moreover, laser irradiation could obviously improve pulmonary ventilation in patients.Therefore,CO2 laser irra-diation is an effective therapy for bronchial asthma.
文摘Male S.D rats weighing 200g were used(as experimental animals).Moxibus-tion at Shenque(RN 8)was performed for 15 minutes each day.The course lasted for weeks. In ratsundergoing oral infusion of taurocholate, index of gastric mucosal injury were 9.0±6.1 and 4.6±2.5 in two and four week groups respectively.Compared with control group(index:16.8±7.6),Pwas less than 0.05 and 0.01.This indicated that moxibustion had protective effect on gastric mucosalinjury.Time-effect relationship also existed. In experiment of analysis about mechanism of moxibustion,we found that moxibustion.1.stim-ulated the secretion of gastric mucus(P【0.001);2.increased the PGE 2 content in gastric mucosa(P【0.05);3.increased the number of β-endorphin-like immunoactive cells in gastric mucosa(P【0.05);4.enhanced the transformation of lymphocytes(P【0.01);5.reinforced the function of an-tibody-producing cells in the spleen. The results suggested that protective effect of moxibustion might result from the increase in mu-cus,the PGE 2 and the endogenous β-endorphin.It might also be related to the reinforcing effect ofmoxibustion on transformation of lymphocytes and antibody-producing function of spleen cells.
文摘That the diseases in the interior can be treated at the exterior is one of the therapeutic methods of traditional Chinese medicine. Pretty good results has been obtained in treating the patients of angina pectoris with medicinal plaster fixed at acupoints. This is reported as follows.
文摘In recent years, the author has treated 23 in-patients and out-patients with chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis and achieved good therapeutic results as reported in the following. Clinical Data In this series, there were 23 cases, 9 males and 14 females, ranging in age from 29 to 68 years, averaging 33.8 years. The duration of disease was 2 to 23 years, with a mean of 11.5 years. All the patients had symptoms and signs of the disease in varying degrees
