针对燃煤组分分布不均匀的特性,研究不同收光模式对激光诱导击穿光谱技术同步测量灰成分的影响。选用具有不同灰成分含量梯度的燃煤样品作为检测对象,对比分析同向收光和侧向收光下灰成分组成元素谱线信号探测的强度和稳定性及SiO2、A... 针对燃煤组分分布不均匀的特性,研究不同收光模式对激光诱导击穿光谱技术同步测量灰成分的影响。选用具有不同灰成分含量梯度的燃煤样品作为检测对象,对比分析同向收光和侧向收光下灰成分组成元素谱线信号探测的强度和稳定性及SiO2、Al2O3、Fe2O3、CaO、MgO和TiO2含量定量分析的精确度。研究结果表明,相同实验条件下同向收光模式的光谱信号稳定性和定量分析精确度更好,检验样品中各灰成分的预测值和参考值之间的拟合度均在0.986以上。而侧向收光模式下探测到的光谱信号强度更强,光谱探测下限可以达到190nm。 展开更多

A novel technique for simultaneous measurements of instantaneous whole-field density and velocity fields of supersonic flows has been developed.The density measurement is performed based on the nano-tracer planar laser scattering(NPLS) technique,while the velocity measurement is carried out using particle image velocimetry(PIV).The present experimental technique has been applied to a flat-plate turbulent boundary layer at Mach 3,and the measurement accuracy of the density and velocity are discussed.Based on this new technique,the Reynolds stress distributions were also obtained,demonstrating that this is an effective means for measuring Reynolds stresses under compressible conditions. 展开更多

A novel fiber optic sensor based on hydrogel-immobilized enzyme complex was developed for the simultaneous measurement of dual-parameter,the leap from a single parameter detecting fiber optic sensor to a fiber optic sensor that can continuously detect two kinds of parameters was achieved.By controlling the temperature from high to low,the function of fiber sulfide sensor and fiber DCP sensor can be realized,so as to realize the continuous detection of dual-parameter.The different variables affecting the sensor performance were evaluated and optimized.Under the optimal conditions,the response curves,linear detection ranges,detection limits and response times of the dual-parameter sensor for testing sulfide and DCP were obtained,respectively.The sensor displays high selectivity,good repeatability and stability,which have good potentials in analyzing sulfide and DCP concentration of practical water samples. 展开更多

In a modified Young's double-slit experiment, two density filters rotating at different frequencies are placed before the two pineholes to encode path information. The spatial and temporal distributions of the output provide us with the wave and particle information of the single photons, respectively. The simultaneous measurement of the wave and particle information inevitably disturbs the system and thus causes some loss of the duality information, which is equal to the mixedness of the photonic state behind the density filters. 展开更多

The measurement of the e... With the rapid development of China's foreign trade, the coastal and inland waterway transport has been increased rapidly. The potential market for marine engines is more and more obvious. The measurement of the engine temperature and strain becomes very important. The fluorescence fiber sensors are broadly used to measure temperature, concentration, and pH value, etc. The fluorescence sensing systems are based on different principles, namely fluorescence intensity, fluorescence intensity ratio, and fluorescence lifetime. The fluorescence lifetime is an effective parameter for sensing purpose, because it is independent of the intensity of the pumping source and does not need expensive narrow-band filters. An experiment system has been established, in which some samples were produced to measure the fluorescence lifetime and temperature characteristics and the relationship of the strain and temperature versus the fluorescence lifetime was achieved at the same time. The experiment result was fitted and analyzed. The test results show that the fluorescence lifetime decreases with the increasing of temperature. The change of fluorescence lifetime with the strain is inconspicuous comparing to that with the temperature. 展开更多

The Colored-Grid Background Oriented Schlieren (CGBOS) technique using colored-grid background is utilized for the reconstruction of density. The Mach number of the sphere is set to 1.5. The short pulse LEDs to illuminate the backgrounds are also installed in the chamber to capture the unsteady flow field around a flying sphere. We propose a novel system for synchronous measurement of out-of-plane deformation and two orthogonal slopes using a single camera. The linearly polarized reference beam introduced by an optical fiber interferes with the unpolarized object beam to measure the out-of-plane deformation. A modified Mach–Zehnder interferometer is used to measure the two orthogonal slopes of the out-of-plane deformation. One of the object beams of the Mach–Zehnder interferometer is an unpolarized beam, and the other object beam is split into two orthogonal linearly polarized object beams by a polarizing prism. The two beams are orthogonally polarized. Hence, they will not interfere with each other. The two polarized beams respectively interfere with the unpolarized beam to simultaneously measure the two orthogonal slopes of the out-of-plane deformation. In addition, the imaging lens and apertures are respectively placed in three optical paths to independently control the carrier frequencies and shearing amounts. The effectiveness of this method can be proved by measuring two pressure-loaded circular plates. 展开更多

A liquid modified photonic crystal fiber(PCF)integrated with an embedded directional coupler and multi-mode interferometer is fabricated by infiltrating three adjacent air holes of the innermost layer with standard 1.48 refractive index liquids.The refractive index of the filled liquid is higher than that of background silica,which can not only support the transmitting rod modes but also the"liquid modified core"modes propagating between the PCF core and the liquid rods.Hence,the light propagating in the liquid modified core can be efficiently coupled into the satellite waveguides under the phase-matching conditions,resulting in a dramatic decrease of the resonant wavelength intensity.Furthermore,there is a multi-mode interference produced by modified core modes and rod modes.Such a compact(~0.91 cm)device integrated with an embedded coupler and interferometer is demonstrated for high-sensitivity simultaneous temperature(~14.72 nm∕℃)and strain(~13.01 pm∕με)measurement. 展开更多

The sensing head consists of a micro ellipsoidal air cavity and a small section of solid-core photonic crystal fiber. The reflective index (RI) and temperature can be interrogated simultaneously through a fast Fourier transform and by tracing the dip wavelength shift of the reflective spectrum. Experimental results show that the RI amplitude and wavelength sensitivities are 5.30/ RIU and 8.46 × 10-1 nm/RIU in the range from 1.34 to 1.43, and the temperature amplitude and wavelength sensitivities are 6.8 × 10-4/℃ and 2.48 × 10-3 nm/℃ in the range from 15℃ to 75℃, respectively. Easy fabrication, a simple system, and simultaneous measurement make it appropriate for aluM-parameter sensing application. 展开更多

A novel phase-shifted long-period fiber grating(PS-LPFG)for the simultaneous measurement of torsion and temperature is described and experimentally demonstrated.The PS-LPFG is fabricated by inserting a pretwisted structure into the long-period fiber grating(LPFG)written in single-mode fiber(SMF).Experimental results show that the torsion sensitivities of the two dips are?0.114 nm/(rad/m)and?0.069 nm/(rad/m)in the clockwise direction,and?0.087 nm/(rad/m)and?0.048 nm/(rad/m)in the counterclockwise direction,respectively.The temperature sensitivities of the two dips are 0.057 nm/℃ and 0.051 nm/℃,respectively.The two dips of the PS-LPFG exhibit different responses to torsion and temperature.Simultaneous measurement of torsion and temperature can be implemented using a sensor.The feasibility and stabilization of simultaneous torsion and temperature measurement have been confirmed,and hence this novel PS-LPFG demonstrates potential for fiber sensing and engineering applications. 展开更多

Simultaneous human activities,such as the Super Bowl game,would cause certain impacts on frequency fluctuations in power systems.With the help of FNET/GridEye measurements,this paper aims to give comprehensive analyses on the frequency fluctuations during Super Bowl LIV held on Feb.2,2020,so as to better understand several phenomena caused by simultaneous activities which will help system operations and controls.First,recent developments of the FNET/GridEye are briefly introduced.Second,the frequency fluctuations of the Eastern Interconnection(El),western electricity coordinating council(WECC),and electric reliability council of Texas(ERCOT)power systems during Super Bowl LIV are analyzed.Third,frequency fluctuations of Super Bowl Sunday and ordinary Sundays in 2020 are compared.Finally,the differences of frequency fluctuations among different years during the Super Bowl and their change trends are also given.Furthermore,several possible explanations,including the simultaneity of electricity consumption at the beginning of commercial breaks and the halftime show,the increasing usage of the Internet,and the increasing size of TV screens,are illustrated in detail in this paper. 展开更多

Based on a single-channel laser self-mixing interferometcr, we present a new silnultaneous measurement of the vibration amplitude and tile rotation angle of objects that both affect the power spectrum containing two peaks of the interferometer signals. The fitted results indicate that the curve of the peak frequency versus the vibration amplitude follows a linear distribution, and the curve of the difference of the two-peak power values versus the angle follows a Gaussian distribution. A vibration amplitude with an error less than 3.0% and a rotation angle with an error less than 11.7% are calculated from the fitted results. 展开更多

With and temperature changes using a liquid-core silica ring resonator as an example, two different-order whispering gallery modes (WGMs) might differ in not only RI but also temperature sensitivities. Thus, a second-order sensing matrix should be defined based on these WGMs to determine RI and temperature changes simultaneously. The analysis shows that the RI and temperature detection limits can be achieved on the order of 10.7 RI unit and 10-3 K at a wavelength of approximately 780 nm. 展开更多

They have been widely used to carry out precise deformation mapping. However, the simultaneous two-dimensional(2D) or three-dimensional(3D) deformation measurements using ESPI with phase shifting usually involve complicated and slow equipment. In this Letter, we solve these issues by proposing a modified ESPI system based on double phase modulations with only one laser and one camera. In-plane normal and shear strains are obtained with good quality. This system can also be developed to measure 3D deformation, and it has the potential to carry out faster measurements with a highspeed camera. 展开更多

A Fourier analysis applied to the Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) transmission spectrum for simultaneous refractive index (RI) and temperature measurements is proposed and experimentally demonstrated in this Letter. In the fast Fourier transform (FFT) spectrum of the MZI transmission spectrum, several frequency components are generally observed, which means that the transmission spectrum of the MZI is formed by the superposition of some dual-mode interference (DMI) spectra, and each frequency component represents different core-cladding interferences. We can select some dominant frequency components in the FFT spectrum of the MZI transmission spectrum to take the inverse FFT (IFFT). Then, the corresponding DMI patterns can be obtained. Due to the shift of the wavelength of these DMI spectra with changes in the environmental parameters, we can use the coefficient matrix of these DMI spectra for multi-parameter sensing. In this Letter, two DMI patterns are separated from the resultant transmission spectrum of the MZI. As the RI and temperature change, the shifts of the two DMI patterns with respect to the RI and temperature will be observed. The sensitivities of the RI and temperature are -137.1806 nm/RIU (RI unit) and 0.0860 nm/℃, and -22.9955 nm/RIU and 0.0610 nm/℃ for the two DMIs. Accordingly, it can be used to simultaneously measure RI and temperature changes. The approach can eliminate the influence of multiple interferences and improve the accuracy of the sensor. 展开更多

In this Letter, an alternative solution is proposed and demonstrated for simultaneous measurement of axial strain and temperature. This sensor consists of two twisted points on a commercial single mode fiber introduced by flame-heated and rotation treatment. The fabrication process modifies the geometrical configuration and refractive index of the fiber. Different cladding modes are excited at the first twisted point, and part of them are coupled back to the fiber core at the second twisted point. Experimental results show distinct sensitivities of 34.9 pm/με with 49.23 pm/℃ and -36.19 pm/με with 62.99 pm/℃ for the two selected destructive interference wavelengths. 展开更多
