Objective This study analyzed how the 10 Global Conferences on Health Promotion have played a significant role in shaping and promoting a worldwide consensus and actions on health promotion,effectively addressing diverse health challenges that evolved over different periods.Methods The textual analysis method was used in this study and text encoding was conducted to systematically examine the declarations and reports presented by the 10 Global Conferences on Health Promotion held during 1986-2021.We summarized the themes and key achievements,and key vocabulary in the conference declarations was extracted and analyzed to construct the global health promotion consensus and actions.Results The fundamental principles of the conferences are to foster consensus and initiate actions in the realm of health promotion on a global scale.The primary purpose and goal are to promote health from regional to global.Significantly,our findings highlight a transition in the primary actors driving health promotion.It underscores a shift in health promotion from being driven primarily by organizations like the World Health Organization,governments,and international bodies,to a more inclusive approach involving non-governmental organizations and the general public.This development implies that health promotion has evolved into a collective global endeavor,demanding the proactive involvement of various stakeholders,and forging new alliances in public health.Meanwhile,the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has further shaped the landscape of health promotion,underscoring the need for intensified focus on areas including disease prevention,health education,and the integration of digital health technologies,and emphasizing the importance of a multidimensional,responsive approach in public health initiatives.Conclusions Sustained collaboration and innovative strategies are pivotal to advancing health promotion globally.Countries,together with public and private entities,should intensify cooperation.Multisectoral collaboration among partners such as healthcare,education,social security,and the industry is vital for health promotion and achieving global health goals. 展开更多

In the enterprise setting, earnings conference call remains a rarely explored field. This thesis offers a descriptive study on assessing interpreting quality from perspectives of fidelity, fluency, and appropriacy. As the corpus, Tencent 2022 Third Quarter Result Announcement provides an ideal transcript to the author to conduct its analysis. Interpreting is frequently done without bearing in mind the multitude of factors that can affect the quality of interpreting. Drawing a conclusion that the interpreter does make a lot of omissions, pauses and hesitations posing a negative effect on the fidelity, fluency and accuracy of the interpreting, the present author suggests that more preparation should be done for improving performance, such as terminologies, company background information, a reasonable speech rate, good image and acoustic quality, and so on. 展开更多

The mixed reality conference system proposed in this paper is a robust,real-time video conference application software that makes up for the simple interaction and lack of immersion and realism of traditional video conference,which realizes the entire process of holographic video conference from client to cloud to the client.This paper mainly focuses on designing and implementing a video conference system based on AI segmentation technology and mixed reality.Several mixed reality conference system components are discussed,including data collection,data transmission,processing,and mixed reality presentation.The data layer is mainly used for data collection,integration,and video and audio codecs.The network layer uses Web-RTC to realize peer-to-peer data communication.The data processing layer is the core part of the system,mainly for human video matting and human-computer interaction,which is the key to realizing mixed reality conferences and improving the interactive experience.The presentation layer explicitly includes the login interface of the mixed reality conference system,the presentation of real-time matting of human subjects,and the presentation objects.With the mixed reality conference system,conference participants in different places can see each other in real-time in their mixed reality scene and share presentation content and 3D models based on mixed reality technology to have a more interactive and immersive experience. 展开更多

This paper gives a summary of the organization and the presentations delivered at the 10th Conference on Magnetically Confined Fusion Theory and Simulation(CMCFTS)held in Zhuhai,China,from 28th to 31st October 2022.The conference focused on the latest progress in the research of the magnetic confined fusion plasma theory and simulations,as well as the largescale numerical simulation techniques developed in recent years.This conference is held both online and offline,with about 110 domestic participants from 18 institutes participating in the live conference,and the statistical data from the live broadcast platform indicated that the online conference attracted over 20000 views per day.A summary of the conference is given,and the history of the CMCFTS is presented.A brief introduction to the poster section is also included in this paper. 展开更多

Purpose:This paper aims to investigate the differences between conference papers and journal papers in the field of computer science based on Bayesian network.Design/methodology/approach:This paper investigated the differences between conference papers and journal papers in the field of computer science based on Bayesian network,a knowledge-representative framework that can model relationships among all variables in the network.We defined the variables required for Bayesian networks modeling,calculated the values of each variable based Aminer dataset(a literature data set in the field of computer science),learned the Bayesian network and derived some findings based on network inference.Findings:The study found that conferences are more attractive to senior scholars,the academic impact of conference papers is slightly higher than journal papers,and it is uncertain whether conference papers are more innovative than journal papers.Research limitations:The study was limited to the field of computer science and employed Aminer dataset as the sample.Further studies involving more diverse datasets and different fields could provide a more complete picture of the matter.Practical implications:By demonstrating that Bayesian networks can effectively analyze issues in Scientometrics,the study offers valuable insights that may enhance researchers’understanding of the differences between journal and conference in computer science.Originality/value:Academic conferences play a crucial role in facilitating scholarly exchange and knowledge dissemination within the field of computer science.Several studies have been conducted to examine the distinctions between conference papers and journal papers in terms of various factors,such as authors,citations,h-index and others.Those studies were carried out from different(independent)perspectives,lacking a systematic examination of the connections and interactions between multiple perspectives.This paper supplements this deficiency based on Bayesian network modeling. 展开更多

The influences of biological,chemical,and flow processes on soil structure through microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICP)are not yet fully understood.In this study,we use a multi-level thresholding segmentation algorithm,genetic algorithm(GA)enhanced Kapur entropy(KE)(GAE-KE),to accomplish quantitative characterization of sandy soil structure altered by MICP cementation.A sandy soil sample was treated using MICP method and scanned by the synchrotron radiation(SR)micro-CT with a resolution of 6.5 mm.After validation,tri-level thresholding segmentation using GAE-KE successfully separated the precipitated calcium carbonate crystals from sand particles and pores.The spatial distributions of porosity,pore structure parameters,and flow characteristics were calculated for quantitative characterization.The results offer pore-scale insights into the MICP treatment effect,and the quantitative understanding confirms the feasibility of the GAE-KE multi-level thresholding segmentation algorithm. 展开更多

Early screening of diabetes retinopathy(DR)plays an important role in preventing irreversible blindness.Existing research has failed to fully explore effective DR lesion information in fundus maps.Besides,traditional attention schemes have not considered the impact of lesion type differences on grading,resulting in unreasonable extraction of important lesion features.Therefore,this paper proposes a DR diagnosis scheme that integrates a multi-level patch attention generator(MPAG)and a lesion localization module(LLM).Firstly,MPAGis used to predict patches of different sizes and generate a weighted attention map based on the prediction score and the types of lesions contained in the patches,fully considering the impact of lesion type differences on grading,solving the problem that the attention maps of lesions cannot be further refined and then adapted to the final DR diagnosis task.Secondly,the LLM generates a global attention map based on localization.Finally,the weighted attention map and global attention map are weighted with the fundus map to fully explore effective DR lesion information and increase the attention of the classification network to lesion details.This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method through extensive experiments on the public DDR dataset,obtaining an accuracy of 0.8064. 展开更多

Structured illumination microscopy(SIM)is a popular and powerful super-resolution(SR)technique in biomedical research.However,the conventional reconstruction algorithm for SIM heavily relies on the accurate prior knowledge of illumination patterns and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of raw images.To obtain high-quality SR images,several raw images need to be captured under high fluorescence level,which further restricts SIM’s temporal resolution and its applications.Deep learning(DL)is a data-driven technology that has been used to expand the limits of optical microscopy.In this study,we propose a deep neural network based on multi-level wavelet and attention mechanism(MWAM)for SIM.Our results show that the MWAM network can extract high-frequency information contained in SIM raw images and accurately integrate it into the output image,resulting in superior SR images compared to those generated using wide-field images as input data.We also demonstrate that the number of SIM raw images can be reduced to three,with one image in each illumination orientation,to achieve the optimal tradeoff between temporal and spatial resolution.Furthermore,our MWAM network exhibits superior reconstruction ability on low-SNR images compared to conventional SIM algorithms.We have also analyzed the adaptability of this network on other biological samples and successfully applied the pretrained model to other SIM systems. 展开更多

The Paris Climate Change Conference was successfully concluded with the Paris Agreement, which is a milestone for the world in collectively combating climate change. By participating in IPCC assessments and conducting national climate change assessments, China has been increasing its understanding of the issue. For the first time, China's top leader attended the Conference of the Parties, which indicates the acknowledgement of the rationality and necessity of climate change response by China at different levels. Moreover, this participation reflects China's commitment to including climate change in its ecology improvement program and pursuing a low-carbon society and economy. In order to ensure the success of the Paris Conference, China has contributed significantly. China's constructive participation in global governance shows that China is a responsible power. These principles such as the creation of a future of win-win cooperation with each country contributing to the best of its ability; a future of the rule of law, fairness, and justice; and a future of inclusiveness, mutual learning, and common development will serve as China's guidelines in its efforts to facilitate the implementation of the Paris Agreement and participate in the design of international systems. 展开更多

The conferees first share a private quantum key, a sequence of pure entangled states and then use them to encode and decode the secret messages. In multimedia conference, the capability of audio processing is basic and requires more for real-time criteria. In this article, we categorize and analyze the schemes, and provide several multipoint speech audio mixing schemes using weighted algorithm, which meet the demand of practical needs for real-time multipoint speech mixing, for which the ASW and AEW schemes are especially recommended. Applying the adaptive algorithms, the high-performance schemes we provide do not use the saturation operation widely used in multimedia processing. Therefore, no additional noise will be added to the output. The above adaptive algorithms have relatively low computational complexity and good hearing perceptibility. The schemes are designed for parallel processing, and can be easily implemented with hardware, such as DSPs, and widely applied in multimedia conference systems. 展开更多

Introduction Gastric cancer is a heterogeneous disease with large variations across geographical regions (1). Although the global incidence of gastric cancer is declining, it remains highly prevalent in Asia as compared to the West (2,3). China is one of the countries with the highest incidence of gastric cancer, and accounts for over 40% of all new gastric cancer cases in the world (4,5). Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer mortality in China (6,7). The 7th National Gastric Cancer Academic Conference (NGCAC) was held in Beijing from June 22 to June 24 with approximately 1,200 attendees, which was organized by Gastric Cancer Committee, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) (Figure I). The theme of this conference was specification, integration, and transformation. Dr. Jiafu Ji, MD, FACS, the chairman of the conference, the president of Gastric Cancer Committee, CACA, pointed out that the conference was aimed at standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, integrating the information platform, and transferring current research achievements (Figure 1). It has been about thirteen years since last National gastric cancer academic conference, which was held in Nanjing in 1999. In this conference, nine pioneer experts (Drs Yan-Zhen Lin, Ji-Fu Wang, Guang-Wei Xu, Jun-Qing Chen, Wen-Fan Zhang, Yin-Chang Zhang, Mao-Lin Jin, Xiang-Fu Zhang, and Xi-Shan Hao) were awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by Gastric Cancer Committee, CACA. Transitivity system is the core part of systemic-functional grammar,which aims to expose the relationship between language and ideology.This thesis uses comparative methods to analyze the news discourses of the Copenhagen Conference.The study notices that the coverage of news discourses in The New York Times is not as neutral as that in China Daily.Based on the theory of transitivity,on the one hand,it proves the applicability of transitivity to news discourse analysis.On the other hand,the present study tries to provide readers with a different perspective of understanding language and a critical reading method,which helps to raise readers' awareness of ideology. 展开更多

The paper focuses on biodiversity—an issue that easily?gets left out of consideration because it is hard to measure. While efforts to reduce over-fishing or conservation of water resources are relatively easy to discuss in quantitative terms, biodiversity in terms of plant species is usually covered by crude and even invalid figures. The paper begins by providing a brief historical overview of attempts to define biodiversity, going back to the early efforts in Africa to deal with conservation and showing how definitions have evolved overtime and how they have shaped conservation efforts. While the main focus of the paper is biodiversity conservation and the poor, the paper makes references to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) and other important global conferences including the World Conference on Environment and Development and Convention on Biological Diversity. The paper finds that international conferences by and large do not adequately address the issue of biodiversity and the poor. The limited commitment shown by political leaders at the conferences should be a reason for global and local authorities to create an environment that enables communities to meet their daily needs, foster development and conserve biodiversity. 展开更多
