The Necessities and Problems of Multimedia and Network Teaching in Vocational College English Teaching

With the development of social economy,the multimedia and network teaching is more and more important in college English teaching,especially in vocational college.It can not only help students to give full play to their collective consciousness and make our English course be full of vitality,but also make the amount of information in class redoubled.For the multimedia and network teaching,there're some problems in English teaching.So the multimedia and network teaching has both necessities and problems.

The application of multimedia technology in English Teaching

For the current foreign language teaching, using multimedia technology has become a necessity in information age. The modernization of computer has paved a new way of deepening teaching reform and improving teaching efficiency and quality. With the computer technology applied in education, language teachers have witnessed dramatic changes in the ways that languages are taught. Multimedia technology applied in English teaching has been considered to be a more effective medium, which represents an inevitable trend of applied linguistics.

Supplementary role of multimedia teaching to college English reading

With the application of modem information technology in education, particularly after multimedia network technology enters teaching field of education, the content of education, the content and the means of education has undergone great changes.In order to develop complex English talent, we designed a teaching model of English reading as a means of multimedia assisted teaching through collaborative, exploratory, autonomous interactive teaching, which can fully exercise and develop students＇ language skills, improving English quality of teaching.It has changed the traditional teaching model which is constrined bye teacher-centered, textbook-centered, classroom-centered. Multimedia Assisted English reading can give students the greatest degree of autonomy, and pay more attention to students＇ learning ability to play the main role in the cognitive, reflectting the idea of quality education, meetting the requirements of the times.

The emergence of digital storytelling and multimedia technology in improving Greek language teaching and learning： Challenges versus limitations

Greek schools are witnessing widening gaps between traditional definitions and applications of literacy, which include reading, writing and speaking in terms of exercises from school textbooks and contemporary literacy practices like digital storytelling, interactive multimedia use and online communications. Language and literacy teachers of primary education are called upon daily to bridge these contradictions through pedagogical and textual choices they make in classroom teaching. This paper reports an experimental study with children of the fifth grade at public Greek schools to apply modernist literacy approaches involving digital storytelling and online communication in improving language skills. The paper analytically presents the didactic examples of a thematic union within the framework of the Greek curriculum and the alternative assessment for the experimental teaching on digital technologies among mother tongue learners. The findings have implications for teacher＇s and student＇s education and also for the integration of a pedagogical-technological content of curriculum within the continuing debate of being culturally and equally literate in today＇s education.
