The meta- material absorber is composed of ferrite slabs with large resonance beamwidths and a copper wire. The theoretical analysis for the effective media parameters is presented to show the mechanism for achieving the perfect absorptivity characteristic. The numerical results of transmission, reflectance, and absorptivity indicate that the metamaterial ab- sorber exhibits a near perfect impedance-match to free space and a high absorptivity of 98.2% for one layer and 99.97% for two layers at 9.9 GHz. The bandwidth with the absorptivity above 90% is about 2.3 GHz. Moreover, the absorption band can be shifted linearly in a wide frequency range by adjusting the magnetic bias. This metamaterial absorber opens a way to prepare perfectly matched layers for engineering applications.展开更多

The electromagnetic absorbing behaviors of ferrite/polymer coatings fabricated by dispersing Mn–Zn ferrite into epoxy resin (EP) are studied. The microstructure and morphology are characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope. Complex permittivity, complex permeability, and reflection loss of ferrite/EP composite coating are investigated in a low frequency range. It is found that the prepared ferrite particles are traditional cubic spinel ferrite particles with an average size of 200 nm. The results reveal that the electromagnetic microwave absorbing properties are significantly influenced by the weight ratio of ferrite to polymer. The composites with a weight ratio of ferrite/polymer being 3:20 have a maximum reflection loss of –16 dB and wide absorbing band. Thus, the Mn–Zn ferrite is the potential candidate in electromagnetic absorbing application in the low frequency range (10 MHz–1 GHz).展开更多

The microwave absorbing properties of the composites in the range of 2 - 18 GHz and their electromagnetic loss mechanisms were studied. The results demonstrated that the synthesized Ba(MnZn)xCo2(1-x)Fe16O27 samples possess a W-type phase of the crystal structure with a hexagonal flaky shape in micro-morphology, and the samples exhibited a soft magnetic trait that enables improving their microwave absorption properties through suitable MnZn doping. For Ba(MnZn)0.4Co1.2Fe16O27 with a thickness of 2.8 mm, the reflection loss peak was -40.7 dB at a frequency of 7.3 GHz, with a bandwidth of 6.6 GHz at a loss of less than -10 dB. The microwave absorption primarily resulted from magnetic losses caused by magnetization relaxation, domain wall resonance, and natural resonance.展开更多

The phase composition, micro-morphology, and static magnetic property of the particles were measured by XRD, SEM, and VSM. The results indicate that the method for preparation of ferrite hollow microspheres (FHM) results in a broad particles size distribution. The density of FHM decreased from 5.31 g/ cm^3 to 2.31 g/cm^3. When the heating rate was 5℃/min, and temperature was 1 200℃ for 4 hours, pure W-type ferrites were formed. With the heat treatment temperature and time increasing, the crystal structure becomes perfect, the saturation magnetization is increased and the coercive force is decreased.展开更多

The phase formation temperature increases, while the particle size decreases as the Ladoping content goes up. The partial substitution of Sr^(2+) by La^(3+) results in the suppression effects on the growth-up of the crystallites and the enhancement of the electron hopping between Fe^(3+) with different valences, which leads to the improvement in the dielectric loss and magnetic loss. Therefore, both the microwave absorbing abilities and absorbing frequency ranges are tuned by La-doping. The synthesized Sr-hexaferrite nanopowders with doping element content of 0.10 demonstrate the fine broad microwave absorbing properties.展开更多
