However, currently used additives cause severe pollution if they are burned and exhausted. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new generation of green additives. Graphene oxide(GO) consists of only C, H and O and thus is considered to be environmentally friendly. So the tribological properties of the few-layer GO sheet as an additive in hydrocarbon base oil are investigated systematically. It is found that, with the addition of GO sheets, both the coefficient of friction(COF) and wear are decreased and the working temperature range of the lubricant is expanded in the positive direction. Moreover, GO sheets has better performance under higher sliding speed and the optimized concentration of GO sheets is determined to be 0.5wt%. After rubbing, GO is detected on the wear scars through Raman spectroscopy. And it is believed that, during the rubbing, GO sheets adhere to the sliding surfaces, behaving like protective films and preventing the sliding surfaces from contacting with each other directly. This paper proves that the GO sheet is an effective lubricant additive, illuminates the lubrication mechanism, and provides some critical parameters for the practical application of GO sheets in lubrication.展开更多

In this study, the authors use dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) instead of furfural as solvent, in light of itshigher selectivity, to obtain extracts with a high aromatic content for naphthenic lubricating base oils. We systematicallyinvestigated effects of the solvent-to-oil (S/O) ratio and extraction temperature on the yield of the extract, efficiency ofaromatic removal, and composition of the extracts and raffinates. The results showed that the aromatic content of extractsfor naphthenic oils could reach a high value of about 80%. The solvent maintained a high selectivity for aromatics fornaphthenic oils even under a high S/O ratio and a high extraction temperature. Moreover, the efficiency of aromatic removalfor naphthenic lubricating base oils could be enhanced by increasing either the S/O ratio or the extraction temperature, although these measures had limited effects in practice. Following this, we used the non-random two-liquid (NRTL) modelbased on the pseudo-component approach to simulate the liquid-liquid equilibrium of the system of DMSO + naphtheniclubricating base oils, and determined the parameters of binary interaction through regression based on the data on phaseequilibrium. The modeling results showed that the predicted yield, content of the solvent, and composition of the raffinatesand extracts were in good agreement with those obtained in the experiments. This validates the reliability of the model usedto represent the DMSO + naphthenic lubricating base oil system. Both the experimental data and the method of simulationreported here can help optimize the extraction of naphthenic lubricating base oils, and provide a better understanding of thecorresponding process.展开更多

The quantity of oil in the test section can be controlled and regulated conveniently and accurately by connecting separate lubricant oil circuit with test section in parallel. It was built up by retrofitting a multiple air-conditioner and installing three oil-separators in serials at the compressor outlet. And so the lubricant oil in the discharged refrigerant gas of compressor can be removed completely. The refrigerant flow rate through test section can be bypassed by the by-path circuit of indoor unit. This experimental rig has advantages such as on-line and continuous oil injection, short time of obtaining stability, flexible operation, simple control, which lead to high efficiency in the research of flow boiling heat transfer of refrigerant and lubricant oil mixture.展开更多

The physical and chemical properties of OFANE, such as viscosity, acid value, pour point, evaporation loss, and oxidation induction time were measured. Results showed that OFANE had good low-temperature fluidity, thermal-oxidative stability, and tribological properties. The tribological properties of OFANE with dimeric acid additive were evaluated. The final biodegradation experiment indicated that OFANE had excellent biodegradability. The prepared OFANE showed great potential as substitute for petroleum-based lubricating base oils.展开更多

The tribological performance of lubricating oils containing combined nanoparticles were determined by four-ball friction and wear tester, and the chemical composition of steel ball with worn surface were analyzed by X-ray Photoelectron Spectrurn(XPS). The results showed that the lubricating oils containing combined nanoparticles had good anti-wear and friction reducing effects, and the tribological properties were optimal when WCeO2+CaCO3=0.6%, WCeO2:WCaCO3=1:1. The extreme pressure value increased by 40.25%, the wear spot diameter reduced by 33.5%, and friction coefficient reduced by 32% compared with 40CD oil. The coordinated action of big and small particles made anti-wear and friction reducing effective. Tribological chemical reactions resulting from the friction surface formed metal calcium, metal cerium and oxides film, and they could fill up the concave surface and protect the worn surface.展开更多

The calculating formulae of the rheological parameters of the oil such as Erying stress, limiting shear stress and shear elastic modulus were obtained under the condition of the high shear strain rate in elastohydrodynamic lubrication(EHL). The constitutive equation of this oil was determined and verified by test. A. marina was more sensitive to used lubricating oil than A. corniculatum and canopy-oiling resulted in more direct physical damage and stronger lethal effects than base-oiling. When treated with canopy-oiling, half of A. corniculatum plants survived for the whole treatment time (90 d); but, for A. marina, high mortality (83%) resulted from canopy-oiling within 3 weeks and no plants survived for 80 d. Base-oiling had no lethal effects on A. corniculatum plants even at the termination of this experiment, but 83% of A. marina plants died 80 d after treatment. Forty days after canopyoiling, 93% ofA. corniculatum leaves fell and no live leaves remained on A. marina plants. By the end of the experiment, base-oiling treatment resulted in about 45% ofA. corniculatum leaves falling, while all A. mar/na leaves and buds were burned to die. Lubricating oil resulted in physiological damage to A. corniculatum leaves, including decreases in chlorophyll and carotenoid contents, nitrate reductase, peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities, and increases in malonaldehyde contents. For both species, oil pollution significantly reduced leaf, root, and total biomass, but did not significantly affect stem biomass. Oil pollution resulted in damage to the xylem vessels of fine roots but not to those of mediate roots.展开更多

文摘With the exploration and development of deep and ultra-deep oil and gas, high torque and high friction during the drilling of deep and ultra-deep wells become one of the key issues affecting drilling safety and drilling speed.Meanwhile, the high temperature and high salt problem in deep formations is prominent, which poses a major challenge to the lubricity of drilling fluids under high temperature and high salt. This paper reports an organic borate ester SOP as an environmentally friendly drilling fluid lubricant. The performance evaluation results show that when 1%lubricant SOP is added to the fresh water-based mud,the lubrication coefficient decreases from 0.631 to 0.046,and the reduction rate of lubrication coefficient is 92.7%.Under the conditions of 210℃ and 30%NaCl,the reduction rate of lubricating coefficient of the base slurry with 1%SOP was still remain 81.5%.After adding 1%SOP,the wear volume decreased by 94.11%compared with the base slurry. The contact resistance experiment during the friction process shows that SOP can form a thick adsorption film on the friction surface under high temperature and high salt conditions, thus effectively reducing the friction resistance.Molecular dynamics simulation shows that lubricant SOP can be physically adsorbed on the surface of drilling tool and borehole wall through hydrogen bond and van der Waals force.XPS analysis further shows that SOP adsorbs on the friction surface and reacts with metal atoms on the friction surface to form a chemically reactive film. Therefore, under high temperature and high salt conditions, the synergistic effect of physical adsorption film and chemical reaction film effectively reduces the frictional resistance and wear of the friction surface. In addition,SOP is non-toxic and easy to degrade. Therefore,SOP is a highly effective and environmentally friendly lubricant in high temperature and high salt drilling fluid.

文摘This study analyzed the pyrolysis mechanism, developed a pyrolysis kinetic model, and determined the corresponding thermodynamic parameters for the removal of calcium from used lubricating oil using sulfurized calcium alkyl phenolate(T-115B)as a model compound. The pyrolysis process and products were evaluated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.Visual inspection indicated that the removal of calcium from T-115B depended primarily on the destruction of micelles caused by the pyrolysis of compounds at high temperatures. The pyrolysis characteristics of T-115B at different heating rates were investigated by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis, which revealed two distinct pyrolysis phases. Thus, the pyrolysis mechanism can be described by a twostep model. The activation energy and thermodynamic parameters(ΔH,ΔG,andΔS)were determined by applying the Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose,Flynn-Wall-Ozawa,Friedman,and Starink methods;the average activation energies for T-115B pyrolysis obtained using these methods were 115.80,119.84,124.96,and 116.14 kJ/mol,respectively.Further,both stages of the pyrolysis reaction followed Fn mechanisms with n=1.39 in the first stage and n=0.86 in the second stage. This study provides reliable and effective pyrolysis models along with kinetic and thermodynamic parameters to facilitate the largescale industrial application of used lubricating oil.
文摘This paper proposed a new experimental rig of testing flow boiling heat transfer of refrigerant and lubricant oil mixture. This experimental rig has advantages such as on-line and continuous oil injection, short time of obtaining stability, flexible operation, simple control, which lead to high efficiency in the research of flow boiling heat transfer of refrigerant and lubricant oil mixture.

文摘As an alternative to petroleum-based lubricants, which are harmful to the environment in excessive amounts, a biodegradable multiester derivative(OFANE) was obtained from plant oil through a chemical modification process with four steps as follows: hydrolysis, esterification, epoxidation, and ring-opening reaction. The prepared OFANE showed great potential as substitute for petroleum-based lubricating base oils.
文摘Nano-copper used as lubrication oil additive has good tribological property and active self-repairing effect for friction pairs. The reduction in liquid phase for preparing nano-additive is one of the most common method. Nano-copper was prepared by reduction in liquid phase. The different project and routine practice for preparing nano-copper were researched. The dispersion problem of nano-copper was investigated by surface treatment and high dispersion. The particles dimension, the dispersion stability and the purity of nano-copper were characterized by TEM and XRD. The conclusion indicates that the methods of the preparation and dispersion can obtain 20nm copper additive with good dispersion property in lubrication oil.

文摘The ceria (CeO2) nanoparticles and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) nanoparticles were chosen as additives of anti-wear and extreme pressure for lubricating oils, and the morphology and sizes of nanoparticles were examined using Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). Tribological chemical reactions resulting from the friction surface formed metal calcium, metal cerium and oxides film, and they could fill up the concave surface and protect the worn surface.

文摘The traction of a new aviation lubricating oil was measured on a self-made test rig. The results of experiments show that the behavior of the new aviation lubricating oil behaves as visco-elastic fluid and the theoretical value agrees fairly well with the measured data, which implies that the constitutive equation of this oil is correct and feasible.
文摘To meet the requirements for high aromatic content and low polycyclic aromatic(PCA)concentration,eco-friendly aromatic-rich rubber extender oils are usually produced by two-stage solvent extraction processes with furfural.Among the different properties of rubber processing oils, density and refractive index are some of the most important properties related to their final quality. Two types of methods, including a pseudo-component approach by using mixing rules and several correlations, were used for calculation of density and refractive index at 20℃ of paraffinic furfural-extract oils and their secondary raffinates. Results indicated that similar accuracy was obtained for predicting the density and the refractive index of furfural+furfural-extract paraffinic oil systems. However, the quadratic correlation presents its advantage over the pseudo-component approach when the composition of oils is not available. Moreover, the quadratic correlation was also used for naphthenic lubricating oils during two-stage solvent extraction processes. The predictions showed much larger discrepancies with respect to experimental values than those of paraffinic lubricating oils, which indicated that the quadratic correlation was more suitable for paraffinic oils with a CN value of below 37%.

文摘An outdoor experiment was set up to investigate the effects of used lubricating oil (5 L/m^2) on Aegiceras corniculatum Blanco. and Avicennia marina (Forsk) Vierh., two salt-excreting mangroves. A. marina was more sensitive to used lubricating oil than A. corniculatum and canopy-oiling resulted in more direct physical damage and stronger lethal effects than base-oiling. Oil pollution resulted in damage to the xylem vessels of fine roots but not to those of mediate roots.
文摘Small amount of lauroyl glutamine was incorporated into HVI 350 mineral lubricating oil and the biodegradabilities of neat oil and the formulated oil in soils were evaluated. Thereafter, the biodegradation rate equations for the two lubricating oils were simulated based on the exponential model. The results indicated that lauroyl glutamine effectively promoted biodegradation of HVI 350 mineral lubricating oil. Under given test conditions, the exponential model well fitted the biodegradation of lubricating oils in soils. The biodegradation rate equation for HVI 350 mineral lubricating oil can be described as ln(St/S0) = –0.0155t, while that for the oil formulated with lauroyl glutamine as ln(St/S0) = –0.0235t. The biodegradation half-lives of neat oil and the formulated oils were 44.72 days and 29.50 days, respectively.
文摘The factors affecting the developmcnt of Sinopec lubricating oil were analyzed in this paper, and an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model for selecting lubricating-oil producing bases was developed. By using this model, nine lubricating oil producing companies under Sinopec were comprehensively evaluated. The evaluation result showed that the Maoming Lubricating Oil Company (Guangdong province), Jingmen Lubricating Oil Company (Hubei province) and Changcheng Lube Oil Company (Beijing) are top three choices, and should be developed preferentially for the development of Sinopec producing bases of lubricating oil in the future. The conclusions provide the theoretical basis for selecting lubricating oil producing bases for decision makers.
