Palladium/iron bimetallic nanoparticles were synthesized using microemulsion method in the water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsion system, which was made up of iso-octane, cetyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide (CTAB), butanol and water and characterized by measuring the conductivity of the solution. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX) analysis showed that the av-erage diameter of synthesized palladium/iron bimetallic nanoparticles was less than 80 nm, which was much smaller than the particles produced by the solution method. The palladium/iron bimetallic nanoscale particles produced in the laboratory showed better performance on dechlorinating TCE than the other materials. The nanoscale Fe/Pd particles exhibited high reactivity. When Pd content is 0.5%, the best TCE dechlorination efficiency is achieved within 30min. And Fe/Pd nanoparticles show persistent reaction activity in some sense. 展开更多

This paper examined the potential of using laboratory-synthesized nanoscale Pd/Fe bimetallic particles to dechlorinate chlorinated methanes, including dichloromethane (DCM), trichloromethane (CF) and tetrachloromethane (CT). Nanoscale Pd/Fe bimetallic particles were characterized in terms of surface area, morphology, size and structure. The parameters affecting the dechlorination efficiency were studied through batch experiments. Effects of Pd content, Pd/Fe addition, and the initial pH value of reaction system on the dechlorination efficiency of chlorinated methanes were determined systematically. Results show that nanoscale Pd/Fe bimetallic particles play a prominent role in the dechlorination of chlorinated methanes. The change of pH value and ferrous ion concentration during dechlorination reaction were also investigated in this study. It is found that the dechlorination efficiency of chlorinated methanes is in the order of CT>CF>DCM. 展开更多

Transformation of chlorophenols by nanoscale bimetallic particles represents one of the latest innovative technologies for environmental remediation. Nanoscale Pd/Fe bimetallic particles were synthesized in the laboratory for treatment of o-chlorophenol. Most of the nanoscale particles are in the size range of 20—100 nm. BET specific surface area of the nanoscale Pd/Fe particles is 12.4 m2/g. In comparison, a commercially available Fe powder(<100 mesh) has a specific surface area of just 0\^49 m2/g. Batch experiments demonstrated that the nanoscale Pd/Fe bimetallic particles can effectively dechlorinate o-chlorophenol. Dechlorination efficiency is affected by the mass fraction of Pd in the bimetal, nanoscale Pd/Fe mass concentration and mixing intensity. 展开更多

Using a liquid-solid phase inversion method, a hybrid matrix poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) membrane was prepared with alumina(Al2O3) nanoparticle addition. Pd/Fe nanoparticles(NPs) were successfully immobilized on the Al2O3/PVDF membrane, which was characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM). The micrographs showed that the Pd/Fe NPs were dispersed homogeneously. Several important experimental parameters were optimized, including the mechanical properties, contact angle and surface area of Al2O3/PVDF composite membranes with different Al2O3 contents. At the same time, the ferrous ion concentration and the effect of hydrophilization were studied. The results showed that the modified Al2O3/PVDF membrane functioned well as a support. The Al2O3/PVDF membrane with immobilized Pd/Fe NPs exhibited high efficiency in terms of dichloroacetic acid(DCAA) dechlorination. Additionally, a reaction pathway for DCAA dechlorination by Pd/Fe NPs immobilized on the Al2O3/PVDF membrane system was proposed. 展开更多

通过分步还原法制备了改性凹凸棒石黏土负载纳米零价铁/钯双金属复合材料(OA-Fe/Pd),并通过X射线衍射(XRD)、透射电镜(TEM)和傅里叶变换红外吸收光谱(FTIR)对其进行表征.以改性凹凸棒石黏土(OA)和改性凹凸棒石黏土负载纳米零价铁材料(OA... 通过分步还原法制备了改性凹凸棒石黏土负载纳米零价铁/钯双金属复合材料(OA-Fe/Pd),并通过X射线衍射(XRD)、透射电镜(TEM)和傅里叶变换红外吸收光谱(FTIR)对其进行表征.以改性凹凸棒石黏土(OA)和改性凹凸棒石黏土负载纳米零价铁材料(OA-Fe)为对照,探讨了OA-Fe/Pd对溶液中4,4′-二溴联苯醚(BDE15)的去除性能,并考察了Pd负载量、材料投加量、BDE15初始浓度、溶剂条件和溶液初始pH对去除BDE15的影响.XRD和TEM表征结果表明纳米零价Fe/Pd双金属颗粒较均匀地分散在OA表面,双金属颗粒粒径小于100 nm.去除动力学实验结果表明OA-Fe/Pd对溶液中BDE15的去除性能显著高于OA和OA-Fe.OA-Fe/Pd对BDE15的去除速率随着Pd负载量和材料投加量的增大而增大,而随着BDE15初始浓度、溶剂中四氢呋喃的比例、溶液初始pH的增大而减小.OA-Fe/Pd对BDE15的去除动力学过程符合准一级动力学方程.OA-Fe/Pd对BDE15的去除机制主要为还原脱溴降解.在适宜的条件下,BDE15可被OA-Fe/Pd完全还原脱溴为联苯醚(DE). 展开更多
