The global carbon neutrality strategy brings a wave of rechargeable lithium‐ion batteries technique development and induces an ever-growing consumption and demand for lithium(Li).Among all the Li exploitation, extracting Li from spent LIBs would be a strategic and perspective approach, especially with the low energy consumption and eco-friendly membrane separation method. However, current membrane separation systems mainly focus on monotonous membrane design and structure optimization, and rarely further consider the coordination of inherent structure and applied external field, resulting in limited ion transport. Here,we propose a heterogeneous nanofluidic membrane as a platform for coupling multi-external fields(i.e.,lightinduced heat, electrical, and concentration gradient fields)to construct the multi-field-coupled synergistic ion transport system(MSITS)for Li-ion extraction from spent LIBs.The Li flux of the MSITS reaches 367.4 mmol m^(−2)h^(−1),even higher than the sum flux of those applied individual fields, reflecting synergistic enhancement for ion transport of the multi-field-coupled effect.Benefiting from the adaptation of membrane structure and multi-external fields, the proposed system exhibits ultrahigh selectivity with a Li^(+)/Co^(2+)factor of 216,412,outperforming previous reports.MSITS based on nanofluidic membrane proves to be a promising ion transport strategy,as it could accelerate ion transmembrane transport and alleviate the ion concentration polarization effect. This work demonstrated a collaborative system equipped with an optimized membrane for high-efficient Li extraction, providing an expanded strategy to investigate the other membrane-based applications of their common similarities in core concepts. 展开更多

Cone-disk systems find frequent use such as conical diffusers, medical devices, various rheometric, and viscosimetry applications. In this study,we investigate the three-dimensional flow of a water-based Ag-Mg O hybrid nanofluid in a static cone-disk system while considering temperature-dependent fluid properties. How the variable fluid properties affect the dynamics and heat transfer features is studied by Reynolds's linearized model for variable viscosity and Chiam's model for variable thermal conductivity. The single-phase nanofluid model is utilized to describe convective heat transfer in hybrid nanofluids, incorporating the experimental data. This model is developed as a coupled system of convective-diffusion equations, encompassing the conservation of momentum and the conservation of thermal energy,in conjunction with an incompressibility condition.A self-similar model is developed by the Lie-group scaling transformations, and the subsequent self-similar equations are then solved numerically. The influence of variable fluid parameters on both swirling and non-swirling flow cases is analyzed.Additionally, the Nusselt number for the disk surface is calculated. It is found that an increase in the temperature-dependent viscosity parameter enhances heat transfer characteristics in the static cone-disk system, while the thermal conductivity parameter has the opposite effect. 展开更多

The influence of variable viscosity and double diffusion on the convective stability of a nanofluid flow in an inclined porous channel is investigated. The DarcyBrinkman model is used to characterize the fluid flow dynamics in porous materials. The analytical solutions are obtained for the unidirectional and completely developed flow.Based on a normal mode analysis, the generalized eigenvalue problem under a perturbed state is solved. The eigenvalue problem is then solved by the spectral method. Finally, the critical Rayleigh number with the corresponding wavenumber is evaluated at the assigned values of the other flow-governing parameters. The results show that increasing the Darcy number, the Lewis number, the Dufour parameter,or the Soret parameter increases the stability of the system, whereas increasing the inclination angle of the channel destabilizes the flow.Besides, the flow is the most unstable when the channel is vertically oriented. 展开更多

We report on the magnetohydrodynamic impact on the axisymmetric flow of Al_(2)O_(3)/Cu nanoparticles suspended in H_(2)O past a stretched/shrinked sheet. With the use of partial differential equations and the corresponding thermophysical characteristics of nanoparticles, the physical flow process is illustrated. The resultant nonlinear system of partial differential equations is converted into a system of ordinary differential equations using the suitable similarity transformations. The transformed differential equations are solved analytically.Impacts of the magnetic parameter, solid volume fraction and stretching/shrinking parameter on momentum and temperature distribution have been analyzed and interpreted graphically. The skin friction and Nusselt number were also evaluated. In addition, existence of dual solution was deduced for the shrinking sheet and unique solution for the stretching one.Further,Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O nanofluid flow has better thermal conductivity on comparing with Cu/H_(2)O nanofluid.Furthermore,it was found that the first solutions of the stream are stable and physically realizable, whereas those of the second ones are unstable. 展开更多

In this study, the characteristics of heat transfer on an unsteady magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)Casson nanofluid over an exponentially accelerated vertical porous plate with rotating effects were investigated. The flow was driven by the combined effects of the magnetic field, heat radiation, heat source/sink and chemical reaction.Copper oxide(CuO)and titanium oxide(TiO2)are acknowledged as nanoparticle materials. The nondimensional governing equations were subjected to the Laplace transformation technique to derive closed-form solutions.Graphical representations are provided to analyze how changes in physical parameters, such as the magnetic field, heat radiation, heat source/sink and chemical reaction, affect the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles. The computed values of skin friction, heat and mass transfer rates at the surface were tabulated for various sets of input parameters. It is perceived that there is a drop in temperature due to the rise in the heat source/sink and the Prandtl number. It should be noted that a boost in the thermal radiation parameter prompts an increase in temperature. An increase in the Prandtl number, heat source/sink parameter, time and a decrease in the thermal radiation parameter result in an increase in theNusselt number. The computed values of the skin friction, heat andmass transfer rates at the surface were tabulated for various values of the flow parameters. The present results were compared with those of previously published studies andwere found to be in excellent agreement. This research has practical applications in areas such as drug delivery, thermal medicine and cancer treatment. 展开更多

The addition of dispersed-phase nanoparticles in the liquid phase can enhance the gas-liquid transfer process as the suspended nanoparticles affect the transfer process inside the fluid through microdisturbance or micro-convection effects. In this article,a high-speed digital camera was used to visualize the bubble behavior of CO_(2) in pure water and nanofluids to examine the effects of CO_(2) gas flow rate, nanoparticle solid content and type on the bubble behavior in the fluids. The CO_(2) absorption performance in three water-based nanofluids were compared in a bubbler. And the mass transfer characteristics during CO_(2) bubble absorption and the reasons for the enhanced gas-liquid mass transfer effect of nanoparticles were analyzed. The results showed that the presence of nanoparticles affected the formation process of bubbles in the fluid, shortened the bubble detachment time, reduced the detachment diameter, effectively increased the gas-liquid contact area, and improved the bubbles detachment frequency. The system with MCM-41 corresponded to a higher overall mass transfer coefficient.Uncalined MCM-41 contained surfactant that enhanced foaming behavior in water. This prevented the transfer of CO_(2) to some extent, and the CO_(2) absorption by uncalined MCM-41/H_(2)O was 5.34%higher than that by pure water.Compared with SiO_(2) nanoparticles with the same particle size and the same composition,MCM-41 had a higher adsorption capacity and better hydrophilicity due to its larger specific surface area and rich porous structure, which was more favorable to accelerate the collision between nanoparticles and CO_(2) bubbles to cause micro-convection.Under the condition of 0.1%(mass)solid content, the enhancement of CO_(2) absorption process by MCM-41 nanoparticles was more significant and improved by 16.9%compared with pure water. 展开更多

Variant graphene, graphene oxides(GO),and graphene nanoplatelets(GNP)dispersed in blood-based copper(Cu)nanoliquids over a leaning permeable cylinder are the focus of this study. These forms of graphene are highly beneficial in the biological and medical fields for cancer therapy,anti-infection measures, and drug delivery. The non-Newtonian Sutterby(blood-based)hybrid nanoliquid flows are generalized within the context of the Tiwari-Das model to simulate the effects of radiation and heating sources. The governing partial differential equations are reformulated into a nonlinear set of ordinary differential equations using similar transformational expressions. These equations are then transformed into boundary value problems through a shooting technique, followed by the implementation of the bvp4c tool in MATLAB.The influences of various parameters on the model’s nondimensional velocity and temperature profiles, reduced skin friction, and reduced Nusselt number are presented for detailed discussions. The results indicated that Cu-GNP/blood and Cu-GO/blood hybrid nanofluids exhibit the lowest and highest velocity distributions, respectively, for increased nanoparticles volume fraction, curvature parameter,Sutterby fluid parameter,Hartmann number, and wall permeability parameter.Conversely, opposite trends are observed for the temperature distribution for all considered parameters, except the mixed convection parameter.Increases in the reduced skin friction magnitude and the reduced Nusselt number with higher values of graphene/GO/GNP nanoparticle volume fraction are also reported. Finally,GNP is identified as the superior heat conductor, with an average increase of approximately 5%and a peak of 7.8%in the reduced Nusselt number compared to graphene and GO nanoparticles in the Cu/blood nanofluids. 展开更多

The thermal examination of a non-integer-ordered mobile fin with a magnetism in the presence of a trihybrid nanofluid(Fe_3O_4-Au-Zn-blood) is carried out. Three types of nanoparticles, each having a different shape, are considered. These shapes include spherical(Fe_3O_4), cylindrical(Au), and platelet(Zn) configurations. The combination approach is utilized to evaluate the physical and thermal characteristics of the trihybrid and hybrid nanofluids, excluding the thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity. These two properties are inferred by means of the interpolation method based on the volume fraction of nanoparticles. The governing equation is transformed into a dimensionless form, and the Adomian decomposition Sumudu transform method(ADSTM) is adopted to solve the conundrum of a moving fin immersed in a trihybrid nanofluid. The obtained results agree well with those numerical simulation results, indicating that this research is reliable. The influence of diverse factors on the thermal overview for varying noninteger values of γ is analyzed and presented in graphical representations. Furthermore, the fluctuations in the heat transfer concerning the pertinent parameters are studied. The results show that the heat flux in the presence of the combination of spherical, cylindrical, and platelet nanoparticles is higher than that in the presence of the combination of only spherical and cylindrical nanoparticles. The temperature at the fin tip increases by 0.705 759% when the value of the Peclet number increases by 400%, while decreases by 11.825 13% when the value of the Hartman number increases by 400%. 展开更多

The application of mathematical modeling to biological fluids is of utmost importance, as it has diverse applicationsin medicine. The peristaltic mechanism plays a crucial role in understanding numerous biological flows. In thispaper, we present a theoretical investigation of the double diffusion convection in the peristaltic transport of aPrandtl nanofluid through an asymmetric tapered channel under the combined action of thermal radiation andan induced magnetic field. The equations for the current flow scenario are developed, incorporating relevantassumptions, and considering the effect of viscous dissipation. The impact of thermal radiation and doublediffusion on public health is of particular interest. For instance, infrared radiation techniques have been used totreat various skin-related diseases and can also be employed as a measure of thermotherapy for some bones toenhance blood circulation, with radiation increasing blood flow by approximately 80%. To solve the governingequations, we employ a numerical method with the aid of symbolic software such as Mathematica and MATLAB.The velocity, magnetic force function, pressure rise, temperature, solute (species) concentration, and nanoparticlevolume fraction profiles are analytically derived and graphically displayed. The results outcomes are compared withthe findings of limiting situations for verification. 展开更多

The low porosity and low permeability of tight oil reservoirs call for improvements in the current technologies for oil recovery.Traditional chemical solutions with large molecular size cannot effectively flow through the nanopores of the reservoir. In this study, the feasibility of Nanofluids has been investigated using a high pressure high temperature core-holder and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).The results of the experiments indicate that the specified Nanofluids can enhance the tight oil recovery significantly. The water and oil relative permeability curve shifts to the high water saturation side after Nanofluid flooding, thereby demonstrating an increase in the water wettability of the core.In the Nanofluid flooding process the oil recovery was enhanced by 15.1%,compared to waterflooding stage. The T2 spectra using the NMR show that after Nanofluid flooding,a 7.18%increment in oil recovery factor was gained in the small pores,a 4.9%increase in the middle pores, and a 0.29%increase in the large pores. These results confirm that the Nanofluids can improve the flow state in micro-sized pores inside the core and increase the ultimate oil recovery factor. 展开更多

The simultaneous investigation on the parameters affecting the flow of electrically conductive fluids such as volumetric radiation, heat absorption, heat generation, and magnetic field(MF)is very vital due to its existence in various sectors of industry and engineering. The present research focuses on mathematical modeling to simulate the cooling of a hot component through power-law(PL)nanofluid convection flow. The temperature reduction of the hot component inside a two-dimensional(2D)inclined chamber with two different cold wall shapes is evaluated. The formulation of the problem is derived with the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)by code writing via the FORTRAN language. The variables such as the radiation parameter(0–1),the Hartmann number(0–75),the heat absorption/generation coefficient(−5–5),the fluid behavioral index(0.8–1.2),the Rayleigh number(103–105),the imposed MF angle(0°–90°),the chamber inclination angle(−90°–90°),and the cavity cold wall shape(smooth and curved)are investigated. The findings indicate that the presence of radiation increases the mean Nusselt number value for the shear-thickening,Newtonian,and shear thinning fluids by about 6.2%,4%,and 2%,respectively.In most cases, the presence of nanoparticles improves the heat transfer(HT)rate, especially in the cases where thermal conduction dominates convection. There is the lowest cooling performance index and MF effect for the cavity placed at an angle of 90°.The application in the design of electronic coolers and solar collectors is one of the practical cases of this numerical research. 展开更多

Hybrid nanofluids are remarkable functioning liquids that are intended to reduce the energy loss while maximizing the heat transmission. In the involvement of suction and nonlinear thermal radiation effects, this study attempted to explore the energy transmission features of the inclined magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)stagnation flow of CNTs-hybrid nanofluid across the nonlinear permeable stretching or shrinking sheet. This work also included some noteworthy features like chemical reactions, variable molecular diffusivity, quadratic convection, viscous dissipation, velocity slip and heat omission assessment.Employing appropriate similarity components, the model equations were modified to ODEs and computed by using the HAM technique. The impact of various relevant flow characteristics on movement, heat and concentration profiles was investigated and plotted on a graph.Considering various model factors, the significance of drag friction, heat and mass transfer rate were also computed in tabular and graphical form. This leads to the conclusion that such factors have a considerable impact on the dynamics of fluid as well as other engineering measurements of interest.Furthermore, viscous forces are dominated by increasing the values ofλ_(p),δ_(m)andδ_(q),and as a result,F(ξ)accelerates while the opposite trend is observed for M andφ.The drag friction is boosted by the augmentation M,λ_(p)andφ,but the rate of heat transfer declined.According to our findings, hybrid nanoliquid effects dominate that of ordinary nanofluid in terms of F(ξ),Θ(ξ)andφ(ξ)profiles. The HAM and the numerical technique(shooting method)were found to be in good agreement. 展开更多

A parabolic trough solar collector(PTSC)converts solar radiation into thermal energy. However, low thermal efficiency of PTSC poses a hindrance to the deployment of solar thermal power plants.Thermal performance of PTSC is enhanced in this study by incorporating magnetic nanoparticles into the working fluid. The circular receiver pipe, with dimensions of 66 mm diameter,2 mm thickness, and 24 m length,is exposed to uniform temperature and velocity conditions. The working fluid,Therminol-66,is supplemented with Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles at concentrations ranging from 1%to 4%.The findings demonstrate that the inclusion of nanoparticles increases the convective heat transfer coefficient(HTC)of the PTSC,with higher nanoparticle volume fractions leading to greater heat transfer but increased pressure drop. The thermal enhancement factor(TEF)of the PTSC is positively affected by the volume fraction of nanoparticles, both with and without a magnetic field.Notably, the scenario with a 4%nanoparticle volume fraction and a magnetic field strength of 250 G exhibits the highest TEF,indicating superior thermal performance. These findings offer potential avenues for improving the efficiency of PTSCs in solar thermal plants by introducing magnetic nanoparticles into the working fluid. 展开更多

In this study, Hydromagnetic Squeezing Nanofluid flow between two vertical plates in presence of a chemical reaction has been investigated. The governing equations were transformed by similarity transformation and the resulting ordinary differential equations were solved by collocation method. The velocity, temperature, concentration and magnetic induction profiles were determined with help of various flow parameters. The numerical scheme was simulated with aid of MATLAB. The results showed that increasing the squeeze number only boosts velocity and concentration while lowering temperature. Conversely, increasing the Hartmann number, Reynold’s magnetic number, Eckert number and Thermal Grashof number generally increases temperature but decreases both velocity and concentration. Chemical reaction rate and Soret number solely elevate concentration while Schmidt number only reduces it. The results of this study will be useful in the fields of oil and gas industry, plastic processing industries, filtration, food processing, lubrication system in machinery, Microfluidics devices for drug delivery and other related fields of nanotechnology. 展开更多

This research entails the study of heat and mass transfer of nanofluid flow in a fluidized bed dryer used in tea drying processes in presence of induced magnetic field. A mathematical model describing the fluid flow in a Fluidized bed dryer was developed using the nonlinear partial differential equations. Due to their non-linearity, the equations were solved numerically by use of the finite difference method. The effects of physical flow parameters on velocity, temperature, concentration and magnetic induction profiles were studied and results were presented graphically. From the mathematical analysis, it was deduced that addition of silver nanoparticles into the fluid flow enhanced velocity and temperature profiles. This led to improved heat transfer in the fluidized bed dryer, hence amplifying the tea drying process. Furthermore, it was noted that induced magnetic field tends to decrease the fluid velocity, which results in uniform distribution of heat leading to efficient heat transfer between the tea particles and the fluid, thus improving the drying process. The research findings provide information to industries on ways to optimize thermal performance of fluidized bed dryers. 展开更多

This study discusses the magnetohydrodynamic nanofluid flow over an inclined permeable surface influenced by mixed convection, and Cattaeo-Christov heat flux. The heat transfer analysis is performed in the presence of a heat source/sink and thermal stratification. To gauge the energy loss during the process, an irreversibility analysis is also performed. A numerical solution to the envisaged problem is obtained using the bvp4c package of MATLAB. Graphs are drawn to assess the consequences of the arising parameters against the associated profiles. The results show that an augmentation in the magnetic field and nanomaterial volume fraction results in an enhancement in the temperature profile. A strong magnetic field can significantly reduce the fluid velocity. The behavior of the Skin friction coefficient against the different estimates of emerging parameters is discussed. . 展开更多

Thermo-hydraulic characteristics of TiO_2-water nanofluids in thin-wall stainless steel test tubes(corrugated tube and circular tube) filled with copper foam(40 PPI) are experimentally investigated and compared with those in test tubes without copper foam. The effects of nanoparticle mass concentration on flow and heat transfer performances are investigated. In addition, the mutual restriction relationships between Reynolds number(Re), Nusselt number(Nu) and resistance coefficient(f) are discussed respectively. Also, the comprehensive coefficient of performance(CCP) between heat transfer and pressure drop is evaluated. The results show that core-enhancement region for heat transfer using experimental tubes filled with copper foam is notably different from that of tubes without copper foam. There is a corresponding Reynolds number(about Re = 2400) for the maximum CCP of each condition. And the heat transfer can be enhanced dramatically and sustained at 8000 ≤ Re ≤ 12000. 展开更多

An experimental investigation of the jet nanofluids impingement heat transfer characteristics of mini-channel heat sink for cooling computer processing unit of personal computer is performed. The experiments are tested under the real personal computer operating conditions: no load and full load conditions. The experiments are performed for the following ranges of the parameters: coolant flow rate varies from 0.008 to 0.020 kg/s, the nozzle diameter is set to 1.00, 1.40, 1.80 mm, the distance nozzle-to-fins tip is 2.00 mm, the channel width of the mini-channel heat sink is 1.00 mm. The nanofluids with suspending of TiO2 particles in base fluid are used as a working fluids. It was observed that the average CPU temperatures obtained from the jet nanofluids impingement cooling system are 3.0%, 6.25% lower than those from the jet liquid impingement and from the conventional liquid cooling systems, respectively. However, this cooling system requires higher energy consumption. 展开更多
