Based on the needs analysis theory, a survey on the course design of Business English at Honghe University are conducted. Business English majors' learning needs and attitudes towards course design of Business English are researched through questionnaires. Business English competences needed in workplaces and society's needs for Business English talents are investigated. In order to investigate the curriculum design for postgraduate English in Agriculture and Forestry Colleges, this papermakes great attempts to probe into the target needs and learning needs of English in SDAU. Both quantitative and qualitative re-search methods were employed in the survey. The final conclusion of this study is that the current English curriculum design forpostgraduate in SDAU can not satisfy the needs of students and workplace completely. On the basis of such major findings and re-sults, this paper makes attempts to develop an English curriculum design and implementing model for postgraduate English teach-ing in SDAU, hoping to offer implications on curriculum design of postgraduate English in Agriculture and Forestry Colleges and of-fer suggestions on personalized teaching reform of postgraduate English. 展开更多

With increasing academic exchanges and more frequent contact with foreign researchers,more and more postgraduate students are invited to attend international academic meetings,study aboard and participate in academic lectures.However,academic English speaking course set up by many universities fail to improve postgraduate students’academic communication abilities and meet their needs.The research purpose of this paper is to do a need analysis of current academic English speaking courses for non-English major postgraduates.The research methodology includes literature and questionnaire.The questionnaire is designed based on Dudley-Evans and St John's Model.It aims to investigate current situation of academic speaking course and carry out a need analysis of postgraduate students.The results show that non-English major postgraduates have strong needs of academic English speaking.While,English speaking course could not meet the requirement of most postgraduate students.After completing all these courses,their oral academic competences are still beyond the expectations of their supervisors or international academic standard for normal presentation and communication in conference,seminar,lectures etc. 展开更多
