Background: Light is an important environmental factor affecting the growth and survival of plants in forest communities. The competition for light resources and divergent responses to light may affect plant species coexistence in natural forests through niche partitioning and environmental filtering, respectively.Methods: In the present study, sequences of light-response-related functional genes were extracted from transcriptomic data of 99 tree species in a subtropical forest and average and nearest taxon phylogenetic diversity of adult(A_Apd’, A_NTpd’) and seedling neighbors(S_Apd’, S_NTpd’) around each focal seedling were calculated to evaluate effects of differentiation in light-response-related genes on community assembly processes.Results: The results showed that seedling survival was related to S_NTpd’, S_Apd’and A_Apd’of two chlorophyll ab-binding proteins involved in the assembly of photosystem Ⅱ and two genes responsive to light intensity,indicating seedlings surrounded by neighbors with distinct light responses tended to have high survival rates.Conclusions: Our results indicated that niche partitioning due to competition for light resources between plants may act as the key mechanism in determining seedling dynamics in subtropical forests. 展开更多

Although single-atom catalysts(SACs)have attracted enormous attention for their applications in the electrochemical reduction of CO_(2)(CO_(2)RR)due to their extraordinary catalytic activity and well-defined active centers,neighboring effects and their influence on the electrochemical performance of SACs have not been well investigated.In this review,we present a summary of the neighboring effects on SACs for the CO_(2)RR process,where the surrounding atoms not only induce electronic modulation of the metal atom but also participate in the CO_(2)RR.Both theoretical and experimental studies have pointed out that the neighboring sites of the anchored metal center can provide second active/adsorption locations during the catalytic process,enhancing CO_(2)RR performance tremendously.This review supplies advanced insights into the significant roles and impacts of neighboring effects on the catalytic process,which also benefit the development of advanced SACs to achieve efficient electrocatalysis. 展开更多

Three synthetic Fe3+ bearing λ-Fe2SiO4 were analyzed using electron probe method, and the M?ssbauer spectra of the samples at 298 K, 150 K, and 95 K were measured. Each spectrum at three temperatures is composed of two doublets. These two doublets are assigned to Fe2+ in the octahedral sites and Fe3+ in the tetrahedral sites, respectively. Site occupancies were determined. The results show that Fe3+ and a small amount of Si4+ are in the tetrahedral and octahedral sites, respectively. The average bond lengths of the octahedral and tetrahedral sites were calculated according to the equations primarily given by Hill et al., O’Neill and Navrotsky and modified by the authors. Furthermore, the octahedral and tetrahedral bond lengths were used to calculate cell parameters and oxygen parameters. In addition, Fe3+ line broadening in the M?ssbauer spectra of Fe3+ bearing λ-Fe2SiO4 were interpreted by using the next nearest neighbor effects 展开更多

We studied four tourmalines with different Fe contents from Xinjiang,Sichuan,and Yunnan provinces of China using Mossbauer spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction.The valence and location of Fe in the four tourmalines and two heat-treated tourmalines have been investigated.The experimental results showed that Fe in the four tourmalines at room temperature had two valence states and two locations,i.e.Fe2+(Y),Fe2+(Z),Fe3+(Y).After being heated at 850℃ for 48 and 72 h,Fe elements in tourmaline were nearly completely oxidized and mainly occupied Y sites,and a small amount of Fe3+ shifted to Z sites.Simultaneously,the amount of mixed valence state Fe 2.5+ progressively increased with heating time,and electron delocalization occurred between the adjacent sites [Fe2+-Fe3+]. 展开更多
