This paper is concerned with the robust H ∞ filter problem for networked environments, which are subject to both transmission delay and packet dropouts randomly. By employing random series which have Bernoulli distributions taking value of 0 or 1, the data transmission model is obtained. Based on state augmentation and stochastic theory, the sufficient condition for robust stability with H ∞ constraints is derived for the filtering error system. The robust filter is designed in terms of feasibility of one certain linear matrix inequality (LMI), which is formed by adopting matrix congruence transformations. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed filtering method. 展开更多

Characteristic infrasound waves observed at Antarctic stations demonstrate physical interaction involving environmental changes in the Antarctic continent and the surrounding oceans. A Chaparraltype infrasound sensor was installed at Syowa Station (SYO; 39°E, 69°S), East Antarctica, as one of the projects of the International Polar Year (IPY2007-2008). Data continuously recorded during the three seasons in 2008-2010 clearly indicate a contamination of the background oceanic signals (microbaroms) with peaks between 4 and 10 s observed during a whole season. The peak amplitudes of the microbaroms have relatively lower values during austral winters, caused by a larger amount of sea-ice extending around the Lutzow-Holm Bay near SYO, with decreasing ocean wave loading effects. Micro- baroms measurements are useful tool for characterizing ocean wave climate, complementing other oceanographic and geophysical data. A continuous monitoring by infrasound sensors in the Antarctic firmly contributes to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) in the southern high latitude, together with the Pan-Antarctic Observations System (PAntOS) under the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR). Detailed measurements of the infrasound waves in Antarctica, consequently, could be a new proxy for monitoring regional environmental change as well as the temporal climate variations in the polar regions. 展开更多

A new chance of developing traditional manufacturing industry comes forth with the development of network technology. Application technology oriented rapid response manufacturing in the distributed network environments, that is, how to take advantage of the Intranet and Internet, combine the numerous manufacturing resources spread around the region, the country and even the globe is the key to the agile design, manufacturing and the buildup of comprehensively competitive power, at the same time, is also an important research direction in the field of advanced manufacturing technology. Rapid response manufacturing in the distributed network environment is a newly manufactory pattern that can be used to implement the conception of agile design and manufacturing, but there are some new problems coming with it, which will directly influence the enterprise’s ability of rapid response in the distributed network manufacturing pattern and lead to the failure of the league and the lost of the given orders. In this paper, we establish some approaches to solve these problems in product development process. The paper then presents the research on key application technologies and solutions includes: network safety strategy which guarantees data transferring among the leaguer members, production data management based on Web/DOT (Distributed Object Technology) and XML criteria which guarantees data exchange in structure-variance characteristic environments, the network platform which provides the conversion service of different types of CAD files each other. All of these solutions are aim for technology problems existing in the distributed network environments and among the league members. Finally, the paper takes one project, that is, the establishment of the online application service system for Shanghai Advance Manufacturing Technology Research Center as a good instance. 展开更多

This has to be supported by real-time data transfer. To meet a broad range of common requirements for Internet-based VE communications, particularly for virtual manufacturing and collaborative design and control, this paper presents a networked virtual environment system that is designed to support networked virtual design and manufacturing. The relationship between gravity variation and the Akto Ms6.7 earthquake on November 11, 2016, was studied by use of mobile gravity observation data from the China continental structural environmental monitoring network. The result revealed that before the Akto earthquake, a high positive gravity variation was observed in the Pamir tectonic knots region (within a maximum magnitude of approximately +80 microgal), which was consistent with the existing knowledge of gravity abnormality and the locations of strong earthquakes. In view of the recent strong seismic activities in the Pamir tectonic knots region, as well as the strong upward crust movement and compressive strain, it is believed that gravity change in the Pamir tectonic knots region reflects the recent strong seismic activities and crust movement. 展开更多

Changes in the phenology of the ground beetle Pterostichus madidus

A growing body of evidence shows that climate change can alter the phenology of plants and animals. In this study long-term data from the UK Environmental Change Network (ECN) were analyzed to investigate whether there has been a change in the phenology of the ground beetle Pterostichus madidus (Fabricius, 1775). Pitfall trap data were available from 12 ECN sites across the United Kingdom, most of which have been in operation for more than 15 years. Weather and vegetation datasets were also utilized. Pitfall trap lines were categorized to eight vegetation types. Trend analysis over time was carried out first using all the available dates of capture events, then the datasets grouped by vegetation type and site. Shifts in high-activity periods were also analyzed. P madidus appearance dates advanced significantly at seven sites and in five vegetation types. Peak activity advanced at two sites. At one site the timing of activity became significantly later. The last day of activity did not change significantly, supporting the theory that the cessation of the activity period is more likely to be controlled by photoperiod than temperature. The relationships between phenological variables and climatic factors were also investigated. Howe'ver, no significant correlations were detected. These results demonstrate that between 1992 and 2008, phenology ofP madidus at seven sites from the eight analyzed has changed. Global warming may be driving these changes and future work will investigate underlying processes. 展开更多

We describe the design of FloodNet, a flood warning system, which uses a grid-based flood predictor model developed by environmental experts to make flood predictions based on readings of water level collected by a set of sensor nodes. To optimize battery consumption, the reporting frequency of sensor nodes is required to be adaptive to local conditions as well as the flood predictor model. We therefore propose an energy aware routing protocol which allows sensor nodes to consume energy according to this need. This system is notable both for the adaptive sampling regime and the methodology adopted in the design of the adaptive behavior, which involved development of simulation tools and very close collaboration with environmental experts. 展开更多
