Therefore, based on the neurofeedback therapy,a novel depression rehabilitation method using a Virtual-Reality(VR) game framew ork is proposed. In this VR game framew ork,an innovative threeelectrode Electroencephalography(EEG) collector is used to record patients' EEG data. The data are processed and converted into feedback features, and the feedback w ill be displayed to patients in real time through a VR headset. Patients can adjust their psychological activity based on the feedback, and relieve their physiological dysfunction effectively. The framew ork also provides a data storage module,w hich may offer therapists w ays to assess patients' rehabilitation results in a long term,as w ell as provide possibility to continue tow ards better algorithm of feedback features w ith data-mining.The prototype system is tested in the framew ork,and the experimental results prove the effectiveness of the framew ork in depression rehabilitation.展开更多

Although many previous studies have demonstrated that neurofeedback training alters the functional connectivity between brain regions in the task state and resting state, it is unclear how the regulation of the key hub of the default mode network (DMN) affects the topological properties of the resting-state brain network. The current study aimed to investigate what topological changes would occur in the large-scale intrinsic organization of the resting state after the real-time down-regulation of the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC). The results indicated that the down-regulation of the PCC in the DMN reduced the functional connectivity of the PCC with the nodes outside of the DMN and reduced functional connectivity between the superior medial frontal gyrus (SFGmed) and parahippocampal gyrus (PHG) in the experimental group. Moreover, the nodal graph properties of the SFGmed were reduced, while that of the PHG showed the opposite alteration after the down-regulation of the PCC. These findings possibly suggest that the regulation of the key hub of the DMN, the PCC, mainly changed the information transfer of the SFGmed and PHG.展开更多

Information about visual-spatial attention mainly arises from studies using event-related potentials (ERPs) during Posner’s spatial cueing paradigm. This study aims to use neurofeedback with a special protocol for treating children with reading disabilities, and moreo-ver, to evaluate visual-spatial attention ability by means of Posner paradigm task and ERPs. The study was conducted in a single subject design in 20 sessions. Participants were 2 male children, aged between 10 - 12 years old, who completed twelve 30-min neurofeedback sessions. Repeated measurements were performed during the baseline, treatment, and post treatment phases. Results showed some improvement in Posner paradigm parameters (correct response, valid and invalid reaction times). Furthermore, grand average ERPs for both of the participants in each of the four conditions (Valid-right, Invalid-right, Valid-left and Invalid-left) were analyzed. The analysis of P3 component showed a reduction in latency, indicating an improvement in the timing of cognitive processes. In addition, the graphs showed a decrease in amplitude level, which meant easier processing than before.展开更多

Therefore, this study evaluates the effects of 45 Hz sinusoidal ELF (360 μT) at Cz regions, cantered at dominant frequency using Electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis. The purpose was to extracte transient or permanent events as an index for new neurofeedback (NF) system improvement. Twenty-four healthy volunteers aged between 20 and 28 years of age were randomly assigned to one of two groups, which differed in the type of NF training concerning the exposed and non-exposed magnetic field effect on performance in attention tests during NF. Results indicate that theta and beta EEG rhythms variations in exposed group changed more significantly in comparison of traditional NF展开更多

Classical?treatments for primary enuretic children are conditioning (Bell and Pad method, and drug therapy). Neurofeedback is a kind of conditioning by changing amplitudes of brain waves. Method: Three?groups of 10 enuretic children were selected randomly. All three groups took imipramine. The?first group also took neurofeedback sessions with protocol of enhancement of?β/θ?wave ratio in occipital zone. The second group took non-real neurofeedback sessions beside the drug. The third?group just took the drug. Result:?All three groups showed significant remission (P < 0.0001) after treatment and a three-month follow-up. Conclusion:?Neurofeedback by this protocol was not any more efficient than imipramine therapy by itself.展开更多

Therefore treatment of craving for usage is one of the essential sections of treatment in methamphetamine dependency (addiction). This study evaluates the effect of neurofeedback therapy on craving for use. Methods: In this study 20 male patient with methamphetamine dependency who diagnosed on the basis of DSM-V were selected. None of the patients had any psychiatric and neurologic disorder except addiction of methamphetamine. Patients were divided into 2 groups of 10. The first group has taken real neurofeedback therapy sessions while the second has undergone non-real neurofeedback (sham) therapy. Then the two groups have been compared with t-test. Result: The result shows that in the first group (real neurofeedback), craving for methamphetamine use has been decreased significantly whereas in the second group (non-real or sham), the decrease was not significant. Conclusion: Neurofeedback therapy is effective in treatment of craving for methamphetamine use.展开更多

Anxiety of the colleague students was first tested by test anxiety scale (TAS) and then treated by biofeedback. After getting the biofeedback treatment, the students' TAS scores, blood volume pulse, and skin conductance were decreased, especially, their TAS scores dropped markedly. Meanwhile, the level of EEG (61 rhythm/a rhythm) and peripheral temperature increased observably. Then, neurofeedbaek (β1 rhythm/α rhythm) was applied to treat students' depression, personality, and mood. As a result, these three kinds of symptoms got alleviated. And their therapeutic effects based on neurofeedback were more stable, durative and less reerudescent.展开更多
