Modern technology-based exploration of mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in prevention and treatment of gastric cancer

This review comments on the article“To explore the mechanism of Yigong San anti-gastric cancer and immune regulation”.We are interested that the article applied network pharmacology and bioinformatics techniques to elucidate the mechanism of action of Yigong Sang,a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),in the treatment of gastric cancer(GC).The mechanism of action of Yigong Sang in the treatment of GC has not yet been elucidated because it is composed of multiple Chinese medicines with multiple components and multiple targets.The emergence of network pharmacology and bioinformatics analysis helps explain the mechanism of action of TCM in preventing and treating GC,and provides a possibility for TCM to transform from empirical to evidence-based medicine.This is of great significance for the application of TCM in oncology,new drug development,formula optimization,and the improvement of clinical efficacy.

Regulation of “Checkpoint Molecule” Sheds New Light on Anti-Cancer Drug Development

The rivalry between T cells and tumor cells somewhat mimics the scene of 'Tom and Jerry,' an animated series in which Tom (a house cat) rarely succeeds in catching Jerry (a mouse), mainly because of Jerry’s cleverness and cunning abilities. In a way, tumor cells are like Jerry, in terms of their crafty and sneaky features.

New treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease:Traditional Chinese medicine Xiaochaihu decoction

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)has a high prevalence worldwide.Li et al performed a well-designed study on the efficacy of modified Xiaochaihu decoction(MXD)for GERD,which showed that MXD is an optional therapy for GERD beyond proton pump inhibitors(PPIs).The herbal granule administration mode minimized the bias from traditional herbal formula in clinical trials.One limitation of that study was that it lacked records of side effects and rescue medication.As a chronic disease with recurrent symptoms,GERD rehabilitation requires prolonged observation of the clinical course with MXD therapy.

Analysis of new therapeutic strategies for diabetes mellitus based on traditional Chinese medicine'xiaoke'formulae

Objective:To develop new therapeutic strategies for diabetes mellitus(DM)by analyzing the mechanisms of action of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)'xiaoke'formulae(TCM prescriptions for remedying xiaoke).Methods:We characterized 291 xiaoke formulae,including the herbs contained,chemical composition,constituents'targets,and corresponding genes.Xiaoke-related genes were retrieved based on the relationships of constituents'targets and xiaoke formulae,and a threshold of over 95.88%occurrence of each constituent target in the 291 TCM formulae served as a definition for xiaoke-related genes.Upon comparison with DM-related genes in the DisGeNET database,the genes differing in expression between cases administered TCM and synthetic drugs were explored using a TCM grammar system.Results:The results showed that xiaoke formulae and 14 exclusively xiaoke-related genes were significantly associated with multiple biological processes closely related to DM and diabetic complications(P<.01).Moreover,intervention in the expression of these xiaoke-related genes would affect DM-related genes directly or indirectly.Conclusion:The 14 xiaoke-related genes APEX1,EHMT2,TSHR,CBX1,FEN1,GMNN,JUN,KMT2A,MAPT,POLl,USP1,PIN1,POLB,and POLK can serve as candidate genes for antidiabetic drug design.Compared with DM-related genes in DisGeNET,intervention in the expression of 14 xiaoke-related genes by TCM formulae has the potential to not only lower blood glucose,but also reduce the occurrence of some side effects and inhibit the development of diabetic complications.These findings will contribute to the discovery of new strategies for treating DM.

Anti-cancer potential of South Asian plants

Phyto-chemicals are increasingly being used in the treatment of cancer because of their availability,potential anti-cancer activity with less adverse effects when compared with chemotherapy.The variation of climate and geography in South Asian countries provides a nursing environment for the growth of versatile plant species,that are repeatedly drawing attention of the scientific community.In this review,we have focused on the anti-cancer potential of thirty plants,which are commonly found in Bangladesh,India,Nepal,Pakistan and Sri Lanka,with their mechanisms of action.In particular,we have discussed the bio-active components that display anti-cancer activity,which have been identified in these plants.This review may help researchers to profile plants with known anti-cancer effect of this region and further investigations of anti-cancer agents in medicinal plants from South Asia.

在新医科背景下,应用型医学院校基础医学课程势必面临变革。文章在分析现阶段基础医学教学改革存在主要问题的基础上,通过优化基础医学课程教学体系、成立虚拟教研室、建立课程思政素材库、加强线上线下混合式课程建设、构建整合实验教学体系、改革考核评价体系等举措,推进了基础医学教育创新建设,并提出新医科背景下基础医学课程建设持续改进的若干思路和对策,为应用型医学人才培养提供有益的探索。

为探索新医科背景下医学人才培养新模式,中南大学湘雅医学院积极推动临床五年制教育教学改革,在基础医学学科和临床学科协同开展系统性研究,从教育理念、教学内容、教学模式、教学资源、评价体系等方面进行改革实践,构建以知识整合为抓手的基础-临床融合式教学模式,建设优质共享资源,多学科整合与渗透、多种教学方法并用,为培养卓越医学人才综合素质提供了新思路。

为适应新时代创新型、综合化的“新医科”建设要求,“临床技能学”作为医学本科生理论知识学习与临床实践相结合的重要桥梁课程,其教育理念及教学方法迫切需要进行新的探索和改革。本研究以临床技能教学为例,结合“临床技能学”外科基础操作知识点,探索在“新医科”建设背景下,引入临床技能训练“六步法”(讲授法、演示法、练习指导法、启发法、温习法、临床实践法)培训模式,将课程思政教育适时融入临床教学工作,采用线上线下、模拟训练与临床见习相结合的混合式教学新模式,进一步提高医学生临床技能水平,培养新时代卓越的实用型临床医生。

新医科背景下以学生发展为中心的医学生理学教学模式实践

新医科建设背景下医学教育目标是以理论知识与实践能力为基础,着重培养创新能力,提升学生综合素质,培养复合型、创新型卓越医师。该研究以学生发展为中心,通过首次创新的IPA教学模式、注重教学中的课程思政教育、逻辑思维能力培养、情景教学运用及课程多元化评价等教学新探索,构建医学生理学教学模式的创新与实践,经过5年的探索和实践,以创新教学模式促学、促教、促建,进一步提高教学质量,培养一流医学人才。

中医医院新入职本科护士培训考核评价指标的构建

目的 构建中医医院新入职本科护士培训考核评价指标。方法 通过文献研究、小组讨论,建立中医医院新入职本科护士培训考核评价指标初稿,选取来自7个省份的中华护理学会中医中西医结合护理分会的15名专家进行2轮专家咨询,确定考核评价内容及其权重。结果 2轮专家函询问卷的有效回收率均为100%,专家权威系数分别是0.962、0.980,肯德尔协调系数分别是0.220、0.268(均P<0.05),最终形成的中医医院新入职本科护士培训考核评价指标包括5项一级指标、24项二级指标和77项三级指标。结论 构建的中医医院新入职本科护士培训考核评价指标具有较高的可靠性和科学性,可为中医医院管理者及培训者选拔人才提供参考。

基于培养新型高阶中医药人才的中药炮制教学改革

在实现中华民族伟大复兴中国梦的大背景下,我国政府出台多项政策推动中医药发展,同时也对培养符合时代和社会需求的中医药人才提出更高的要求。中药炮制是中医药的重要特色,该课程在中药人才培养中具有重要的地位。文章以培养新型高阶中医药人才为教育目标,从教学理念、教学方法、评价体系3个方面对中药炮制教学进行了大胆的改革与实践。结果表明,在教学相长的同时,教学改革不仅大大增强了学生们的专业自信、文化自信,更激发了学生们改革创新的意识、对行业发展的思考和对民族复兴的责任感。

新医科背景下中医院校创新能力提升策略研究——以河南中医药大学儿科医学院为例

十八大以来,国家高度重视中医药工作,中医药发展迎来了历史最好机遇。中医药高校创新教育应抢抓历史机遇,勇担职责使命,遵循中医药发展规律,树立“新医科”思维,以胜任能力为导向,坚持传承精华、守正创新。文章以河南中医药大学儿科医学院为例,从中医药文化认同、中医药体系传承、中医药发展创新三个维度,深入分析了制约中医药高校学生创新能力提升的深层次问题,并针对性地提出了加强传统文化教育,树立文化自信,增强中医药文化认同;遵循客观规律,构建中医药思维,擦亮中医药传承底色;树立新医科思维,拥抱现代科技,促进中医药创新发展三条对策及切实可行的具体举措。

高等中医药院校西医内科学教学的创新探索

在高等中医药院校中医专业的学习中,西医内科学亦为重要的临床专业课程之一,但西医内科学教学面临与中医课程交叉、课时压缩、学生基础薄弱等相应问题,增加了该课程的学习难度。随着现代社会对医学人才的要求不断提高,中医药院校的临床专业学生也必须掌握西医的理论基础和临床疾病。为了贯彻国家“新医科”建设,提高中医专业西医内科学教学水平,提升本科生分析及解决临床问题的能力,笔者所在教研室总结出内科专业主讲教师+教学秘书责任制、现代化教学手段+问题/病例切入式教学、充分利用现代网络和床旁教学等不同教学模式,在实际运用中取得了很好的教学效果,得到授课教师和学生的广泛认可。文章就相关教学经验进行总结,以期为中医药院校本科生的西医内科学教学提供一定的有益建议,提高本科生的西医内科学教学水平。
