I argue that the quality of macroeconomic indica...The aim of this paper is to describe and analyze people's confidence in political institutions in the BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. I argue that the quality of macroeconomic indicators cannot explain the variation in political confidence between the five most dynamic new emerging economies, and that there is no substantial difference among young, middle-aged, and senior-agent groups. By combing data from the Asia Barometer Survey and the World Value Survey, the author provides two complementary approaches, one sociocultural and the other micropolitical, to reveal the factors that influence people's confidence in four major political institutions. The explanatory effects of these two approaches are mixed. Political identity and values, in most cases, have a significant impact on political confidence. On the other hand, high levels of interpersonal social trust, individual happiness, and satisfaction with living standards also show positive influences.展开更多

Although mostly associated with dogs, the rabies virus(RABV) presents genetic diversity and has a significantly wide host range in China. Instead of the dog-and wildlife-associated China ⅠI lineage in the past decades, the China Ⅰ lineage has become the main epidemic group hosted and transmitted by dogs. In this study, four new lineages, including 43 RABVs from FBs, have been classified within the dog-dominated China Ⅰ lineage since 2014. FBRABVs have been previously categorized in the China Ⅱ lineage. Moreover, FB-hosted viruses seem to have become the main independent FB-associated clade in the phylogenetic tree. This claim suggests that the increasing genetic diversity of RABVs in FBs is a result of the selective pressure from coexisting dog rabies. FB transmission has become complicated and serious with the coexistence of dog rabies. Therefore, apart from targeting FB rabies, priority should be provided by the appropriate state agencies to perform mass immunization of dog against rabies.展开更多

Most modern microprocessors have one or two levels of on-chip caches to make things run faster,but this is not always the case.Most of the time,these caches are made of static random access memory cells.They take up a...Most modern microprocessors have one or two levels of on-chip caches to make things run faster,but this is not always the case.Most of the time,these caches are made of static random access memory cells.They take up a lot of space on the chip and use a lot of electricity.A lot of the time,low power is more important than several aspects.This is true for phones and tablets.Cache memory design for single bit architecture consists of six transistors static random access memory cell,a circuit of write driver,and sense amplifiers(such as voltage differential sense amplifier,current differential sense amplifier,charge transfer differential sense amplifier,voltage latch sense amplifier,and current latch sense amplifier,all of which are compared on different resistance values in terms of a number of transistors,delay in sensing and consumption of power.The conclusion arises that single bit six transistor static random access memory cell voltage differential sense amplifier architecture consumes 11.34μW of power which shows that power is reduced up to 83%,77.75%reduction in the case of the current differential sense amplifier,39.62%in case of charge transfer differential sense amplifier and 50%in case of voltage latch sense amplifier when compared to existing latch sense amplifier architecture.Furthermore,power reduction techniques are applied over different blocks of cache memory architecture to optimize energy.The single-bit six transistors static random access memory cell with forced tack technique and voltage differential sense amplifier with dual sleep technique consumes 8.078μW of power,i.e.,reduce 28%more power that makes single bit six transistor static random access memory cell with forced tack technique and voltage differential sense amplifier with dual sleep technique more energy efficient.展开更多

One of the goals of this special issue is to review the progresses of developments of functional genomics in three crops of rice, soybean and cotton as well as a vegetable crop of tomato. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the staple food for more than half of the world population. Soybean and cotton are the most important economic crops. Solanum represents one of the most diverse plant genera and used widely around the world. In this issue, six papers report development of genomics approaches on crop genetic studies.
