New record of the feather star Palaeocomatella hiwia(Echinodermata:Crinoidea:Comatulida)from Zhenbei Seamount in South China Sea:new insights into the taxonomic position of Palaeocomatella

One specimen belonging to the family Comatellinae was collected from the Zhenbei Seamount(332.5–478.2 m)in the South China Sea in July 2022.Based on the morphological characters,the specimen was identified as Palaeocomatella hiwia McKnight,1977.It is first recorded from China Sea and redescribed in detail.This specimen differs from the original description from New Zealand for never showing syzygy at br4+5 or br5+6 on interior and br1+2 on exterior arms.However,it is much conform to the redescription to specimens from Indonesia,with only differences in position of the second syzygy and distalmost pinnule comb.Specimen is deposited in the Institute of Oceanology,Chinese Academy of Sciences.Phylogenetic analyses based on the mitochondrial c oxidase subunit I(COI)and 16S rRNA genes indicated that P.hiwia was nested within the tribe Phanogeniini and clustered with Aphanocomaster pulcher.Furthermore,P.hiwia showed same morphological features in terms of mouth placement,comb location,and number of comb teeth rows as other genera of Phanogeniini.Therefore,we suggest that the genus Palaeocomatella should be put in the tribe Phanogeniini.

One new species and two new records of free-living marine nematodes from the Huanghai Sea

One new species of free-living marine nematode of the genus Curvolaimus, Curvolaimus filiformis sp. nov. from the Huanghai Sea is described and illustrated. This new species is characterized by the buccal cavity teeth, large amphids and two ventral seta at the conical part of tail. Meanwhile, two new records of genus Halalaimus, Halalaimus longicaudatus and H. isaitshikovi are fast reported in China. Types are deposited in the College of Marine Life Sciences, Ocean University of China.

New Record of Lycodon liuchengchaoi in Anhui

One juvenile and one adult female wolf snake（Colubridae： Lycodon） were sampled at Yixian and Fuxi, Huangshan, Anhui, China in the summer of 2011 and 2012, respectively. The two specimens were identified as Lycodon liuchengchaoi based on external morphology and molecular data. This is a new reptile record in Anhui Province. In our laboratory, four eggs were laid and three neonates were hatched successfully. This is the first record of the laying and incubation of L. liuchengchaoi eggs. The five specimens were deposited at the Museum of Huangshan University（HUM20140001） and Guangdong Entomological Institute（HB-lcfsp12613, HB-lcfsp-ch1~3）.

Taxonomy notes on Vandeae(Orchidaceae)from China:Five new species and two new records

Five new species(Gastrochilus yei,Gastrochilus minimus,Luisia simaoensis,Taeniophyllum xizangense,Tuberolabium subulatum)and two newly recorded species(Cleisostoma tricornutum,Luisia inconspicua)of Vandeae(Orchidaceae)from China are described and illustrated.Gastrochilus yei is similar to G.affinis and G.nepalensis,but differs from them by having an epichile not lobed,the apex of the hypochile not bilobed,and a tine on the apex of the leaf.Gastrochilus minimus is similar to G.acinacifolius,but can be distinguished from the latter by having a flabellate epichile that is densely hirsute on the adaxial surface and an inconspicuous central cushion;in addition,the hypochile of G.minimus has a keel that extends to the apex of the epichile.Taeniophyllum xizangense is similar to T.stella and T.radiatum,but it is distinguished from them by having much bigger flowers,inflorescences densely covered with short-bristly hairs,papillae on the external surface of sepals,and bigger triangular-ovate viscidium.Luisia simaoensis is similar to L magniflora and L ramosii,but can be easily distinguished from them by having lateral sepals longer than dorsal sepals and petals,lip with irregular and waved margins,and lip with bilobed apex.Luisia inconspicua is moved from Gastrochilus to Luisia based on phylogenetic analyses of plastid matK sequence data.Tuberolabium subulatum is similar to T.camosum,but it can be easily distinguished from the latter by having an inflorescence much shorter than the leaves,yellow sepals and petals,and many small papillae outside the lip lobes.

Morphological studies of six free-living spirotrichean ciliates (Protozoa： Ciliophora) with three new records from the coastal South China Sea

The living morphology and infraciliature of six spirotrichous ciliates collected from the coastal South China Sea were investigated using live observation and protargol impregnation. These are Euplotes woodruffi Gaw, 1939, Hemigastrostyla enigmatica （Dragesco and Dragesco-Kerneis, 1986） Song and Wilbert, 1997, Neourostylopsis flavicana （Wang et al., 2011） Chen et al., 2013, Protogastrostyla pulchra （Perejaslawzewa, 1886） Gong et al., 2007, Pseudoamphisiella alveolata （Kahl, 1932） Song and Warren, 2000, and PseudokahlieUa marina （Foissner et al., 1982） Berger et al., 1985. Among these, Protogastrostyla pulchra, Pseudoamphisiella alveolata and PseudokahlieUa marina are reported from the South China Sea for the first time, which manifest obvious differences apart from other Chinese populations. As new contribution, the detailed description of isolates from mangrove habitat of E. woodruffi and 1t. enigmatica, and aquaculture pond isolate of N.flavicana, are present.

Four new recorded species of marine nanoplanktonic diatoms found in the East China Sea and Huanghai Sea

In a study of species composition of marine nanoplanktonic diatoms ( < 20 &mu;m) in water samples from the East China Sea and Huanghai Sea (Yellow Sea), four diatom species were identified by TEM as new records for China. They were Thalassiosira oceanica Hasle, Navicula britannica Hustedt et Aleem, Nitzschia leehyi Fryxell and Synedra indica Taylor. Detailed description of the taxonomic characteristics with TEM photographs of the four species and their ecological behavior and distribution is given in this paper.

A New Record of Kaloula(Amphibia: Anura: Microhylidae) in Shanghai, China

We discovered a medium-sized species of narrow-mouthed frog of the genus Kaloula in June and September 2014 during municipal surveys of amphibians in Shanghai. Three narrow-mouthed frogs were collected in city drains of the Binjiang Forest Park, Shanghai. Based on subsequent examination and morphological characters, these specimens were identified as Kaloula borealis（Barbour, 1908）. The species was mainly distributed in Northern China and Korea. It is a new amphibian record for Shanghai. We found the visible differences in male secondary sexual characteristics between our specimens and Beijing specimens. K. borealis was first described inhabiting urban greenlands which could benefit amphibian conservation in urban and urbanizing areas.

New records of a genus and a species of Neritidae (Mollusca:Gastropoda:Cycloneritimorpha) from the South China Sea

A neritid species Vittina pennata （von Born, 1778） is reported for the first time from the South China Sea. This is also the first report of this genus from Chinese waters. The specimen was collected from the Sanya Harbor, Hainan Province, China and deposited in Marine Biological Museum, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Detailed descriptions of its shell feature are presented. Differences between this species, Vittina coromandeliana and Neritina pulligera are compared and discussed.

Four new records of caridean shrimp (Crustacea： Decapoda： Caridea) from the East China Sea and South China Sea

Four species of caridean shrimps collected from the East China Sea and South China Sea represent new records for the Chinese waters： Lysmata kempi Chace, 1997; Lysmata lipkei Okuno and Fiedler, 2010; Chlorocurtisjactans （Nobili, 1904） and Rhynchocinetes conspiciocellus Okuno and Takeda, 1992. The diagnostic characters and illustrations of these four species are presented, with remarks on their taxonomy. The identification keys of these species from Chinese waters are provided.

Checklist of Eumolpidae(Coleoptera,Chrysomeloidea) from Mao'ershan region including one new record species from China

Thirty-six species and 1 subspecies belonging to 12 genera, 3 subfamilies of the family Eumolpidae collected from Mao＇ershan region （Heilongjiang Province） of China are listed in this paper, including one new record species, Cryptocephalus yamadai Chili6, 1940, from China. Description and photos of the new record species are also provided.

Descriptions of two new record species of Scutellonema (Nematoda:Tylenchida) from China

From 2011 to 2012, we collected Scutellonema commune from the rhizosphere soil of coconut （cocos nucifera L.） and Scutellonema magniphasma from the rhizosphere soil of Rosa chinensis in Shenyang, China. S. commune was characterized by rounded scutella, which was varied from two annules anterior to the anus and five annules posterior. The lateral field was not areolated at the level of scutella. S. magniphasma was characterized by varying scutellum, about 7.0 μm in diameter, in position from four annules posterior to four annules anterior to the anus, and areolated at the level of the scutellum.

A new record of Candacia varicans Giesbrecht, 1892 (male)(Crustacea: Copepoda: Candaciidae) from the South China Sea

The male of Candacia varicans Giesbrecht, 1892 from the South China Sea was recorded and described. In general, the male of C. varicans is morphologically similar to those of C. arrnata and C. curta. However, it is distinguished with them by below several morphological characters： （1） posterolateral corners of the fifth thoracic segment prominently sharp and symmetrical; （2） right side of posterior edge of genital segment with a small backward protuberance; and （3） the dorsal surface of the third segment of the fifth pereiopod with a squamashaped protuberance.

A new species of Zanclognatha Lederer and three new records of the families Erebidae and Noctuidae(Lepidoptera,Noctuoidea)from Korea,with notes on larval feeding habits

A new species of Zanclognatha Lederer,1857 of the family Erebidae,Z.querciella sp.n.,one species of Family Erebidea,Asota egens(Walker,1854)and two species of Family Noctuidae:Meganephria retinea Gyulai and Ronkay,1999 and Amphipyra subrigua Bremer and Grey,1853,are reported for the first time from Korea.In addition,larval feeding habits with their host plants for three species are newly recognized from Korea.Illustration of adults,larvae for Zanclognatha querciella and Meganephria retinea,and the genitalia of male or female for all species are provided.

Five new records of Xanthidae(Crustacea:Brachyura)from Hainan Island,China

Five new records of the family Xanthidae are reported from China:Hypocolpus haanii Rathbun,1909,Neoliomera variolosa(A.Milne-Edwards,1873),Leptodius australis Ward,1936,L.davaoensis Ward,1941,and Xanthias joanneae Mendoza,2013.The specimens were collected from Hainan Island and deposited in the Marine Biological Museum,Chinese Academy of Sciences.Diagnosis based on observation,photographs,line drawings,and some taxonomic discussions are provided.

Description of a new record species of Heterodera from China(Tylenchida,Heteroderidae)

A new record species Heterodera ripae was found in the rhizosphere soil of nettle(Urtica sp.)on the bank of the Mangniu River in Shenyang City,Liaoning Province,China.The new record species can be characterized by vulval cone bifenestrate with circular or subcircular semifenestrae,vulval slit length averaging 34.2μm,vulval bridge mostly broad,underbridge weak,bullae absent;the second-stage larvae stylet knobs rather wide and slightly projecting anteriorly,tail length averaging 43.7μm and hyaline region length averaging 22.3μm.

A new record of the capped langur (Trachypithecus pileatus) in China

A New Record of Orchidaceae from Guangxi:Galeola nudifolia Lour.

This paper reported a new record of Orchidaceae from Guangxi,Galeola nudifolia Lour.This species was previously known from Hainan Province and Yunnan Province of China,India,Myanmar,Vietnam,Thailand,Malaysia,Indonesia and the Philippines.The new Orchidaceae record has broken the record of only one species of the genus Galeola Lour.in Guangxi,and it filled the gap in the northern part of the original distribution area,and proved that the species in general is in a continuous distribution state.The new Orchidaceae record in Guangxi is of great significance to the study of the distribution pattern and geographical origin of the species.

New species and new records of diatoms from Xiamen Harbour

In planktonic diatom samples collected from Xiamen Harbour, Xiamen,Fujian,China from January 1983 to December 1984, two species and varieties are new to science and three species are recorded for the first time in China. New species is Tropidoneis constricta Li,Cheng et Chin sp. nov. ,new variety is Fragilaria longissima v. protenta Li,Cheng et Chin var. nov. ,new recorded species are FragUaria heidenii Ostrup.F.oceanica Cleve and Thalassiosira punctigera Hasle.

A New Record of Acanthodactylus cantoris(Sauria: Lacertidae) and Its Comparison with Closely Related A. blanfordi in Southeastern Iran

A new record of Acanthodactylus cantoris from Sistan and Baluchistan in southeastern Iran is presented in this paper,and this lizard is found occurring in the coastal area of the Persian Gulf from Govater to Chabahar. This species is mainly sympatric with A. blanfordi,and their habits and habitats support their close relationship within the cantoris group. In total,29 specimens of A. cantoris(n = 12) and A. blanfordi(n = 17) were compared morphologically using statistical methods. The occurrence of A. cantoris in Iran has been questioned for a long time by different herpetologists,and the distribution,ecology and taxonomy of this newly recorded species were investigated and provided in this paper. An updated identification key for the species of Acanthodactylus in Iran is given.
