Meanwhile, the relations of geodesic E-quasiconvex functions, geodesic Econvex functions and geodesic E-almostconvex functions are studied. Furthermore, the notion of E-epigraphs is generalized to geodesic E-epigraphs and a characterization of geodesic E-quasiconvex functions in terms of its geodesic E-epigraphs is considered.展开更多

Eliot's The Waste Land is a poem that concerns with the spiritual decline of the modern civilization in which human life has lost its meaning, significance and purpose. Meanwhile it is especially famous for its obscurity. There is no logical and plotting connection with each other. However, Eliot puts these fragments together skillfully with stories of mythology and allusions. Furthermore he takes myth as a unifying tool connecting each individual section together revealing mythology as the framework of the poem.展开更多

Instead of only enumerating from the structural perspective, the author illustrated the function of the paratextual epigraph with due attention to the connection between epigraph and the artistic techniques as well as the theme of the novel. It was found that paratextual epigraph bears four artistic functions: foreshadowing, creating satire, and creating metaphor. It is suggested that further study could foreground the importance of paratextual epigraph, in order to have a better understanding of the novel.展开更多
