Understanding green areas is of paramount importance to also understand the population’s mental health and well-being, as well as to achieve ecological understanding and its impact on urban infrastructure. Thus, the aim of the present study is to carry out a survey on both urban afforestation structure and on its social impact on a Brazilian municipality. It also sought to understand the damages caused by these species to urban infrastructure in comparison to data collected in 2009, to assess forest coverage in this municipality and tree planting underutilized capacity. Accordingly, all the streets in this municipality’s urban area, the botanical data of each tree and its damage to the city’s infrastructure and phytosanitary conditions were surveyed (from 1 to 5). Data were compared to those from the 2009 census, and social issues were analyzed. In total, 5044 individuals belonging to 189 species were recorded. The most often found species were Lagerstroemia indica and Murraya paniculata. Out of the total number of trees, 458 trees scored at least one score “5” in one of the criteria, and this number represents 8.9% of the total of the trees. L. indica was the species accounting for the highest rates of phytosanitary and infrastructure issues. Data comparison evidenced that urban tree canopy lost 25% of its vegetation between the two measurements taken herein, but the number of species has increased. When it comes to damages, many trees started showing phytosanitary issues or damage to urban infrastructure.展开更多

Based on the meteorological data of Changbai Mountain, the January temperature (the limiting effect for tree line) and annual mean temperature were mainly investigated. In the ecotone between Betula ermanii and alpine tundra, the number and diameter at ground level of Betula ermanii in the plots were measured. According to the correlation between diameter at ground level (DGL) and age, the diameter at ground level can represent age directly. The results showed that the distribution age of Betula ermanii was in the trend of decreasing with elevation rising. In resent years, the annual mean temperature near Changbai Mountain is rising, which has led to the tree line ascending.展开更多

[Method] Based on major cropping pattern in production, randomized block design was adopted to explore growth indicators, canopy micrometeorological indicators, yield and fiber quality in key growth stage. [Result] Shading has a significant effect on cotton canopy micro-environment and canopy diameter is proportional to shading effect. According to comparisons of the same tree type, the change of canopy micro-environment was as follows: under canopyouter canopymiddle points and peachpearapplewalnutjujube for comparisons among different tree types. Canopy diameter is directly proportional to the number of tree branch and boll weight reductions and shading is the main cause of yield reduction. The canopy expansion is the major cause of decline of light intensity, temperature and humidity of cotton canopy. [Conclusion] Fruit trees, which will promote cotton yield, quality and canopy-environment, are as follows: jujube walnut apple pear peach trees. In practice, trees, which are small in canopy or well trimmed, are popular in production, such as jujube trees, to improve cotton yield and fiber quality.展开更多

Firstly, the architecture of spacecraft fault diagnosis is proposed hierarchically with four diagnosis frames, i.e., system level, subsystem level, component level and element level. Secondly, a hierarchical diagnosis model is expressed with four layers, i.e., sensors layer, function layer, behavior layer and structure layer. These layers are used to work together to accomplish the fault alarm, diagnosis and localization. Thirdly, a fault-tree-oriented hybrid knowledge representation based on frame and generalized rule and its relevant reasoning strategy is put forward. 文摘The Chinese tree shrew(Tupaia belangeri chinensis),a member of the mammalian order Scandentia, exhibits considerable similarities with primates, including humans,in aspects of its nervous, immune, and metabolic systems. These similarities have established the tree shrew as a promising experimental model for biomedical research on cancer, infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, and mental health conditions.Herein,we used metatranscriptomic sequencing to analyze plasma,as well as oral and anal swab samples, from 105 healthy asymptomatic tree shrews to identify the presence of potential zoonotic viruses. In total, eight mammalian viruses with complete genomes were identified, belonging to six viral families, including Flaviviridae,Hepeviridae,Parvovirinae,Picornaviridae,Sedoreoviridae, and Spinareoviridae.Notably, the presence of rotavirus was recorded in tree shrews for the first time.Three viruses-hepacivirus 1,parvovirus,and picornavirus-exhibited low genetic similarity(<70%)with previously reported viruses at the whole-genome scale, indicating novelty.Conversely, three other viruses-hepacivirus 2,hepatovirus A and hepevirus-exhibited high similarity(>94%)to known viral strains.Phylogenetic analyses also revealed that the rotavirus and mammalian orthoreovirus identified in this study may be novel reassortants. These findings provide insights into the diverse viral spectrum present in captive Chinese tree shrews, highlighting the necessity for further research into their potential for crossspecies transmission.

文摘The world today is undergoing disruptive, transformative shifts driven by a new wave of technological revolutions and industrial changes. In this context,a central question for China’s innovation-driven development strategy is how to effectively identify and measure high-quality technological innovations.Drawing on the stylized facts and scenario narrative of China’s technological landscape, this paper proposes a framework and measurement system for evaluating high-quality technological innovations. While China’s top-level design for technological innovation is guided by policy documents, the increasing number of enterprises applying for“high-tech enterprise”status has coincided with a decline in the quality of patent filings. In response, this paper first underscores the challenges and necessity of measuring the quality of technological innovations.Second,we introduce the high-quality technological innovation indicators and employ them to assess the quality of tech innovations at the firm level, utilizing an approach that combines analogical narrative, gene coding, text analysis, semantic logic, and a database of granted invention patents in China.Third,we examine the systematic and individual biases inherent in citation counts,a commonly used indicator, under specific contexts, and employ a granular instrumental variable approach to validate the effectiveness of the indicators. Finally,we develop a“family tree”of the indicators and explore their application scenarios through a combination of established and extended indicators. Our findings provide a theoretical foundation for evaluating China’s technological innovation quality, inform policy incentives, and offer insights for academia to apply high-quality technological innovation indicators in different contexts.

文摘Extreme climate has increasingly led to negative impacts on forest ecosystems globally, especially in semiarid areas where forest ecosystems are more vulnerable. However,it is poorly understood how tree growth is affected by different drought events. In 2006–2009,the larch plantations in the semiarid areas of Northwest China were negatively affected by four consecutive dry years, which was a very rare phenomenon that may occur frequently under future climate warming. In this study,we analyzed the effect of these consecutive dry years on tree growth based on the data of the tree rings in the dominant layer of the forest canopy on a larch plantation. We found that the tree-ring width index(RWI)in dry years was lower than that in normal years, and it experienced a rapidly decreasing trend from 2006 to 2009(slope=-0.139 year^(-1),r=-0.94)due to water supply deficits in those dry years.Drought induced legacy effects of tree growth reduction, and consecutive dry years corresponded with greater growth reductions and legacy effects.Growth reductions and legacy effects were significantly stronger in the third and fourth consecutive dry years than that of single dry year(p<0.05),which might have been due to the cumulative stress caused by consecutive dry years. Our results showed that larch trees experienced greater tree growth reduction due to consecutive dry years and their legacy effect, and the trees had lower recovery rates after consecutive dry years. Our results highlight that consecutive dry years pose a new threat to plantations under climate warming, and thus, the effect of climate extremes on tree growth should be considered in growth models in semiarid areas.
文摘In recent decades, the rapid climate warming in polar and alpine regions has been accompanied by an expan-sion of shrub vegetation. However, little is known about how changes in shrub distribution will change as the distribution of tree species and snow cover changes as temperatures rise.In this work,we analyzed the main environmental factors influencing the distribution and structure of Juniperus sibir-ica,the most common shrub species in the Southern Ural Mountains.Using mapping and digital elevation models,we demonstrated that J.sibirica forms a well-defined vegeta-tion belt mainly between 1100 and 1400 m a.s.l.Within this zone, the abundance and cover of J.sibirica are influenced by factors such as rockiness, slope steepness, water regime and tree(Picea obovata)cover. An analysis of data spanning the past 9 years revealed an upward shift in the distribution of J.sibirica with a decrease in its area. The primary limit-ing factors for the distribution of J.sibirica were the removal of snow cover by strong winter winds and competition with trees. As a consequence of climatic changes, the tree line and forest limit have shifted upward, further restricting the distribution of J.sibirica to higher elevations where com-petition for light with trees is reduced and snow cover is sufficiently deep.

文摘The role of the temperate mixed broadleaf-Korean pine forest(BKF)in global biogeochemical cycles will depend on how the tree species community responds to climate;however,species-specific responses and vulner-abilities of common trees in BKF to extreme climates are poorly understood. Here we used dendrochronological meth-ods to assess radial growth of seven main tree species(Pinus koraiensis,Picea jezoensis,Abies nephrolepis,Fraxinus mandshurica,Phellodendron amurense,Quercus mongolica, and Ulmus davidiana)in an old-growth BKF in response to climate changes in the Xiaoxing’an Mountains and to improve predictions of changes in the tree species compo-sition.Temperature in most months and winter precipita-tion significantly negatively affected growth of P.jezoensis and A.nephrolepis, but positively impacted growth of P.koraiensis and the broadleaf species, especially F.mandshu-rica and U.davidiana.Precipitation and relative humidity in June significantly positively impacted the growth of most tree species. The positive effect of the temperature during the previous non-growing season(PNG)on growth of F.mandshurica and Q.mongolica strengthened significantly with rapid warming around 1981,while the impact of PNG temperature on the growth of P.jezoensis and A.nephrolepis changed from significantly negative to weakly negative or positive at this time. The negative response of radial growth of P.jezoensis and A.nephrolepis to precipitation during the growing season gradually weakened, and the negative response to PNG precipitation was enhanced.Among the studied species,P.koraiensis was the most resistant to drought, and U.davidiana recovered the best after extreme drought.Ulmus davidiana,P.jezoensis and A.nephrolepis were more resistant to extreme cold than the other species.Climate warming generally exacerbated the opposite growth patterns of conifer(decline)and broadleaf(increase)spe-cies.Deciduous broadleaf tree species in the old-growth BKF probably will gradually become dominant as warming continues.Species-specific growth-climate relationships should be considered in future models of biogeochemical cycles and in forestry management practices.

文摘In Central Europe, anthropogenic coniferous monocultures have been subject to conversion to more diverse mixed forests since the 1990s,however,they are still abundant across many forest landscapes.Artificial and natural tree regeneration both play a key role during conversion by determining the species composition and structure of the future forests. Many abiotic and biotic factors can potentially influence the regeneration process and its specific combinations or interactions may be different among tree species and its developmental stages. Here,we aimed to identify and quantify the effect of the most important drivers on the density of the most abundant regenerating tree species(i.e.,Norway spruce and European beech),as well as on species and structural diversity of the tree regeneration. We studied tree regeneration in four former monospecific coniferous stand types(i.e.,Norway spruce,Scots pine,European larch, and Douglas fir)in Southwest Germany that have been under conversion to mixed forests since the 1990s.We sampled tree regeneration in four growth height classes together with a variety of potentially influencing factors on 108 sampling plots and applied multivariate analyses. We identified light availability in the understorey, stand structural attributes, browsing pressure, and diaspore source abundance as the most important factors for the density and diversity of tree regeneration.Particularly,we revealed speciesspecific differences in drivers of regeneration density. While spruce profited from increasing light availability and decreasing stand basal area, beech benefited either from a minor reduction or more strikingly from an increase in overstorey density.Increasing diaspore source abundance positively and a high browsing pressure negatively affected both species equally. Our results suggest that humus and topsoil properties were modified during conversion, probably due to changes in tree species composition and silvicultural activities. The species and structural diversity of the tree regeneration benefitted from increasing light availability, decreasing stand basal area, and a low to moderate browsing pressure. We conclude that forest managers may carefully equilibrate among the regulation of overstorey cover, stand basal area, and browsing pressure to fulfil the objectives of forest conversion,i.e.,establishing and safeguarding a diverse tree regeneration to promote the development of mature mixed forests in the future.
文摘Random pixel selection is one of the image steganography methods that has achieved significant success in enhancing the robustness of hidden data. This property makes it difficult for steganalysts’powerful data extraction tools to detect the hidden data and ensures high-quality stego image generation. However, using a seed key to generate non-repeated sequential numbers takes a long time because it requires specific mathematical equations. In addition, these numbers may cluster in certain ranges. The hidden data in these clustered pixels will reduce the image quality, which steganalysis tools can detect. Therefore, this paper proposes a data structure that safeguards the steganographic model data and maintains the quality of the stego image. This paper employs the AdelsonVelsky and Landis(AVL)tree data structure algorithm to implement the randomization pixel selection technique for data concealment. The AVL tree algorithm provides several advantages for image steganography.Firstly,it ensures balanced tree structures, which leads to efficient data retrieval and insertion operations.Secondly, the self-balancing nature of AVL trees minimizes clustering by maintaining an even distribution of pixels, thereby preserving the stego image quality. The data structure employs the pixel indicator technique for Red,Green, and Blue(RGB)channel extraction. The green channel serves as the foundation for building a balanced binary tree.First, the sender identifies the colored cover image and secret data. The sender will use the two least significant bits(2-LSB)of RGB channels to conceal the data’s size and associated information. The next step is to create a balanced binary tree based on the green channel.Utilizing the channel pixel indicator on the LSB of the green channel,we can conceal bits in the 2-LSB of the red or blue channel. The first four levels of the data structure tree will mask the data size, while subsequent levels will conceal the remaining digits of secret data. After embedding the bits in the binary tree level by level, the model restores the AVL tree to create the stego image.Ultimately, the receiver receives this stego image through the public channel, enabling secret data recovery without stego or crypto keys. This method ensures that the stego image appears unsuspicious to potential attackers.Without an extraction algorithm,a third party cannot extract the original secret information from an intercepted stego image.Experimental results showed high levels of imperceptibility and security.

文摘Tree allometry plays a crucial role in tree survival, stability, and timber quantity and quality of mixed-species plantations. However, the responses of tree allometry to resource utilisation within the framework of interspecific competition and complementarity remain poorly understood.Taking into consideration strong-and weakspace competition(SC and WC),as well as N_(2)-fixing and non-N_(2)-fixing tree species(FN and nFN),a mixedspecies planting trial was conducted for Betula alnoides,a pioneer tree species, which was separately mixed with Acacia melanoxylon(SC+FN),Erythrophleum fordii(WC+FN),Eucalyptus cloeziana(SC+nFN)and Pinus kesiya var.langbianensis(WC+nFN)in southern China.Six years after planting, tree growth, total nitrogen(N)and carbon(C)contents, and the natural abundances of^(15)N and^(13)C in the leaves were measured for each species, and the mycorrhizal colonisation rates of B.alnoides were investigated under each treatment.Allometric variations and their relationships with space competition and nutrient-related factors were analyzed. The results showed a consistent effect of space competition on the height-diameter relationship of B.alnoides in mixtures with FN or nFN.The tree height growth of B.alnoides was significantly promoted under high space competition, and growth in diameter at breast height(DBH),tree height and crown size were all expedited in mixtures with FN.The symbiotic relationship between ectomycorrhizal fungi and B.alnoides was significantly influenced by both space competition and N_(2) fixation by the accompanying tree species, whereas such significant effects were absent for arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.Furthermore, high space competition significantly decreased the water use efficiency(WUE)of B.alnoides, and its N use efficiency(NUE)was much lower in the FN mixtures.Structural equation modeling further demonstrated that the stem allometry of B.alnoides was affected by its NUE and WUE via changes in its height growth, and crown allometry was influenced by the mycorrhizal symbiotic relationship. Our findings provide new insights into the mechanisms driving tree allometric responses to above-and belowground resource competition and complementarity in mixed-species plantations, which are instructive for the establishment of mixed-species plantations.
文摘Currently, urban areas are the largest segment of the world’s population, and they can reach up to 80% of it in some countries. When it comes to damages, many trees started showing phytosanitary issues or damage to urban infrastructure.
文摘BACKGROUND Development of distant metastasis(DM)is a major concern during treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).However, studies have demonstrated im-proved distant control and survival in patients with advanced NPC with the addition of chemotherapy to concomitant chemoradiotherapy. Therefore, precise prediction of metastasis in patients with NPC is crucial.AIM To develop a predictive model for metastasis in NPC using detailed magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)reports.METHODS This retrospective study included 792 patients with non-distant metastatic NPC.A total of 469 imaging variables were obtained from detailed MRI reports.Data were stratified and randomly split into training(50%)and testing sets.Gradient boosting tree(GBT)models were built and used to select variables for predicting DM.A full model comprising all variables and a reduced model with the top-five variables were built.Model performance was assessed by area under the curve(AUC).RESULTS Among the 792 patients,94 developed DM during follow-up.The number of metastatic cervical nodes(30.9%),tumor invasion in the posterior half of the nasal cavity(9.7%),two sides of the pharyngeal recess(6.2%),tubal torus(3.3%),and single side of the parapharyngeal space(2.7%)were the top-five contributors for predicting DM,based on their relative importance in GBT models. The testing AUC of the full model was 0.75(95%confidence interval[CI]:0.69-0.82).The testing AUC of the reduced model was 0.75(95%CI:0.68-0.82).For the whole dataset, the full(AUC=0.76,95%CI:0.72-0.82)and reduced models(AUC=0.76,95%CI:0.71-0.81)outperformed the tumor node-staging system(AUC=0.67,95%CI:0.61-0.73).CONCLUSION The GBT model outperformed the tumor node-staging system in predicting metastasis in NPC.The number of metastatic cervical nodes was identified as the principal contributing variable.

文摘Lubricant diagnosis serves as a crucial accordance for condition-based maintenance(CBM)involving oil changing and wear examination of critical parts in equipment. However, the accuracy of traditional end-to-end diagnosis models is often limited by the inconsistency and random fluctuations in multiple monitoring indicators. To address this,an attribute-driven adaptive diagnosis method is developed, involving three attributes:physicochemical, contamination, and wear.Correspondingly,a fuzzy fault tree(termed FFT)-based model is constructed containing the logic correlations from monitoring indicators to attributes and to lubricant failures. In particular, inference rules are integrated to mitigate conflicts arising from the reverse degradation of multiple indicators. With this model, the lubricant conditions can be accurately assessed through rule-based reasoning.Furthermore,to enhance its intelligence, the model is dynamically optimized with lubricant analysis knowledge and monitoring data. For verification, the developed model is tested with lubricant samples from both the fatigue experiment and actual aero-engines.Fatigue experiments reveal that the proposed model can improve the lubricant diagnosis accuracy from 73.4%to 92.6%compared with the existing methods. While for the engine lubricant test,a high accuracy of 90%was achieved.

文摘In order to decipher phenomenon of tree line changing with climate variety, the trend of tree line on the northern slope of Changbai Mountain was studied. In resent years, the annual mean temperature near Changbai Mountain is rising, which has led to the tree line ascending.

文摘[Objective] The aim was to provide a theoretical basis for stable and highly effective intercropping arrangements and scientific management measures by selecting apple, pear, peach, apricot, walnut, jujube and other fruit trees to study their influence on yield, fiber quality and economic returns of intercropped cotton in southern Xinjiang. In practice, trees, which are small in canopy or well trimmed, are popular in production, such as jujube trees, to improve cotton yield and fiber quality.

文摘In 2000 and 2001, 1-year-old seedlings of 7 economic tree species including chestnut, apricot, persimmon, peach, walnut, pear and apple were cultured in garden pots that had a diameter of 40 cm and were filled with clean sand. The major components of exudates released from their roots were isolated and analysed by GC-MS. Totally 200 kinds of organic chemicals were isolated, of which 3 kinds i.e. naphthalene, dimethylbenzene and dibutyl phthalate were principally controlled pollutants according to 'Blacklist of Principal Environment Pollutants in China' and the standard of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The research result provided theoretical evidence for selecting low-pollution economic forest crops in the water source protection area in Miyun Reservoir.
文摘Some ideas in the development of fault diagnosis system for spacecraft are introduced. Finally, a diagnosis case for spacecraft power system is exemplified combining the above with a powerful expert system development tool G2.
