The aim of our study is to evaluate the knowledge regarding physical medicine and rehabilitation among physicians in training and medical students at the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech, to approach the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of doctors regarding physical medicine and rehabilitation and evaluate the knowledge in theoretical training related to PRM among the students. We conducted a monocentric cross-sectional analytical study, using a web-based anonymous survey, carried out among 558 undergraduate student and training doctors, randomly selected in the form of a survey on the knowledge towards Physical Medicine and rehabilitation. We received 558 survey duly completed by students of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Marrakech (62.4%) and training doctors (37.6%). The mean age of the participants was 24.53 ± 3.9 years, with extremes ranging from 17 to 39 years. 52.7% of the participants were from the former educational reform, The predominance of participation was remarkable among pediatricians 23%, The population who knew PRM was the majority (79.3%), 40.7% of the participants were unaware of the availability of a PRM department at Mohamed VI University Hospital, 0.5% of all training doctors and medical students questioned strongly agreed with the sufficiency of their training in disability management were belonging to the new reform, 84.1% of participants had never attended or referred a patient to the PRM department. 23.2% of training doctors affirmed the referral of patients to PRM for further management. Despite the essential role of PRM in the management of diseases, it remains little known by training doctors and medical students. This lack of knowledge of PRM reflects the lack of the undergraduate and postgraduate of the medical education in the field of rehabilitation. 展开更多

The provision of feedback on student work has been a common and even recommended practice across levels of education throughout the years. In the field of academic writing pedagogy, giving feedback has become a crucial part of the teaching/learning process given that composition skills are quite intricate and difficult to master, requiring a cycle of continual drafting, feedback and re-drafting until a final version is produced.Teacher feedback appears to be the most utilized in current classrooms, with peer feedback beginning to be applied in many disciplines as well in recent times.Nevertheless,it appears that most research studies on the uses and the benefits of teacher and peer feedback focus on undergraduate students with graduate students’voices less contemplated in this regard.Considering this potential research gap as well as the fact that doctoral students are often more skilled and competent writers, this study analyses these students’attitudes and views toward the need of teacher and peer feedback in a research writing in English course delivered in a Finnish university with a mix of international and local students. The results seem to indicate that both types of feedback, but specifically a combination of both, were well-accepted and highly-regarded by these students, particularly as far as reader-friendliness is concerned. 展开更多

Motivation is considered an important factor for non-English major students in their language learning. In the study, questionnaires and interviews were used to explore the relationship between learning motivations of CDSI (Chengdu Sport Institute)'s non-English major students and their test scores in SCET-3 (Sichuan English Test-level 3). The results found that in general non-English major students' motivation is not high with no significant gender differences; their learning motivation shows some correlation with their vocabulary level; their external motivation has more impact on the non-English major students. Therefore, language learning motivation has a positive relation with students' English learning achievement. Considering the characteristics of the non-English major students, suggestions on English teaching methods are made to stimulate students' learning motivation and cultivate their learning strategies, so as to improve the quality of English teaching and students' English level. 展开更多

Language learning strategies play an important role in language learning. Students in vocational technical colleges have been regarded as low English proficiency learners due to their weak foundation in learning English. To explore the solution, the present study employed a specific survey of language learning strategy use and tried to conduct a one-semester language learning strategy training, aiming to investigate the effects of integrating language learning strategy into EFL instruction for non-English major students in vocational technical colleges. We found after the instruction, the difference in the frequency of overall strategy use between the experimental group and the control group was significant indicating that the students could be trained with language learning strategies to enhance the frequency of their strategy use. After language learning strategy instruction, the experimental group didn't perform significantly better than the control group in terms of their English language proficiency. However, the results of this present study still supported this viewpoint that the strategy instruction had positive impacts to some extent if properly conducted, for it had positive effects on enhancing students' language learning strategy use. 展开更多

Phonetics is the cornerstone of language. The improvement of the proficiency of pronunciation has a great effect on the level of English listening and speaking skills.Learners with high proficiency in pronunciation can communicate effectively in terms of thoughts, culture, and emotions[1].However,due to the limitations of the language environment, subject characteristics, and traditional teaching methods,non-English majors often face problems such as difficulty in pronunciation and lack of motivation for learning, which raise concerns regarding the English phonetic learning situation among these students. Therefore, innovative phonetic teaching is of great significance to non-English majors. This paper aims to provide some innovative and effective strategies for the innovative teaching of English phonetics for non-English majors to meet the learning needs of students, and to provide useful guidelines for future teaching reform and practice.According to the literature review and personal teaching experience, the article summarizes some innovative strategies that can improve the teaching of non-English majors’pronunciation, such as using real situations and technical assistance, encouraging cooperative learning, gamifying phonetic learning, and so on.By implementing these strategies, students can improve phonetic sensitivity and pronunciation accuracy, thereby enhancing their listening skills and oral fluency. 展开更多

Background: In Sweden, medical students can work as employed doctor trainees under supervision during medical school breaks. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the educational value of such employments, as well as to compare university and non-university positions. Method: A questionnaire was administered to all employed doctor trainees at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, in 2003-2004 (n = 67) plus all students in last term medical school 2005 who had had such a position inside or outside this university hospital (n = 43). The questionnaire included questions on trainee position/s, as well as statements regarding the educational value. Result: 75 unique individuals returned a filled-in questionnaire (response rate: 78%). The respondents experienced the positions as valuable concerning gain in professional confidence (mean ± standard deviation: 3.9 ± 1.1;1 = total disagreement to 5 = total agreement) and independence (3.9 ± 1.1), subsequent learning in medical school (4.3 ± 0.9), and future professional work (4.2 ± 1.0). The gain in professional confidence and independence was greater for those who had worked in a non-university hospital (n = 17) than in a university hospital (n = 29): 4.4 ± 0.6 vs. 3.6 ± 3.6, P = 0.011;4.3 ± 0.7 vs. 3.6 ± 1.1, P = 0.038. Conclusion: Employment as a doctor trainee seems to facilitate subsequent learning in medical school and enhance professional progress;the latter is particularly prominent in non-university hospitals. 展开更多

Teaching English as a compulsory subject in Cenderawasih University has always been a challenging one.The situation and condition faced by the lecturers who are from English education program are complex. They have to teach English in the first year, sometimes until second year for non-English major students from different programs. At the same time, they deal with big classes from all programs.Issues in the teaching and learning process in the classroom may include total number of students, students’background knowledge of learning English, learning conditions, and teaching and learning style.Since these issues have happened throughout the years, several elements from Krashen hypothesis can be considered to help to create a better language learning environment. This study focuses on those elements of comprehensible input, reduced anxiety level, and active participation. These elements can be urgently suggested to English teaching and learning process at university level, particularly to teach EFL(English as a foreign language)to mixed-level non-English major university students to produce an effective language learning environment. 展开更多
