This study examined and analysed the impact of self-efficacy on the career decisions of 52 viola students enrolled in Chinese universities.According to the findings,the level of self-efficacy influences the learning a...This study examined and analysed the impact of self-efficacy on the career decisions of 52 viola students enrolled in Chinese universities.According to the findings,the level of self-efficacy influences the learning and career decisions of students directly.Higher self-efficacy can positively affect how individuals perceive their past experiences and those of others.Therefore,a high degree of self-efficacy can be advantageous.Self-efficacy is primarily influenced by a person’s prior experiences,alternative experiences,verbal persuasion,and physical and emotional state during work-based learning.Schools may offer courses that foster and improve the development of self-efficacy in order to help viola majors in improving their self-efficacy effectively.展开更多

Objective:To investigate medical students’cognition on the doctor-patient relationship and its influence on their career choice as well as to provide reference for medical education and communication education.Method...Objective:To investigate medical students’cognition on the doctor-patient relationship and its influence on their career choice as well as to provide reference for medical education and communication education.Methods:A self-compiled questionnaire survey was carried out at a medical university in W city,and descriptive statistics as well as chi-square tests were conducted.Results:There were significant differences in medical students’cognition of doctor-patient relationship among different genders,registered residence,only-child status,whose parents are working in the medical field,and their own evaluation of the major(p<0.05);the different cognitions of doctor-patient relationship have a significant influence on medical students’career choice.Conclusion:Medical students’vocational cognition and educational guidance should be strengthened,hospital information should be open and transparent,media reporting of medical events should be standardized,and a doctor-patient conflict regulation mechanism should be established.展开更多

Materials and Methods: We have conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study based on an anonymous questionnaire. Results: A total of 406/672 questionnaires were returned, with a female/male sex ratio of 1.07. The duration of the training (OR: 3.3;CI 95%: 1.74 - 6.23;p < 0.001), intellectual challenge (OR: 3.02;CI 95%: 1.69 - 5.37;p < 0.001), doctor-patient relationship (OR: 2.22;CI 95%: 1.02 - 4.84;p: 0.04), and financial aspects (OR: 2.14;CI 95%: 1.09 - 4.21;p: 0.02) were independent factors that influenced the choice of anesthesiology. Conclusion: we recommend the succeeding: 1) Support students in their choice;2) Correct misconceptions about certain specialties;3) Promote clinical clerkship;4) Encourage mentorship;5) Increase the salary of at-risk specialties.展开更多
AIM:To evaluate residents’perceptions and attitudes toward the various aspects of a comprehensive ophthalmic examination,and to determine if these factors correlate with their choices for fellowship and future career...AIM:To evaluate residents’perceptions and attitudes toward the various aspects of a comprehensive ophthalmic examination,and to determine if these factors correlate with their choices for fellowship and future career plans.METHODS:This is a cross-sectional study.A questionnaire on the perception of the ophthalmic exam was sent via SurveyMonkey to ophthalmology residents throughout Israel.Eighty of them(one-half of all ophthalmology residents in 2019)completed it.The first part related to how they perceived each component of the ophthalmic evaluation.The second part related to their future fellowship plans.The Chi-squared test was used to compare categorical variables and Student’s t-test and One-way ANOVA were used to compare continuous variables.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was applied as needed to detect interactions between variables and to exclude confounder effects.RESULTS:Slit-lamp examination of the anterior and posterior segments ranked as the most likeable aspects,whereas gonioscopy,ocular motility examination and visual acuity assessment were least likeable.Anterior segment and retina subspecialties were the ones most sought after.Forty-nine respondents(61.3%)noted a direct correlation between their preferred parts of comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations and their choice of subspecialty.Perceptions of selected components of those evaluations were significantly associated with responders’intentions to pursue anterior segment,retina,or oculoplastic fellowships(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Perspectives of residents toward the ophthalmic examination,and most specifically its individual components,play an important role in their choice of subspecialty training.展开更多
