A considerable efficiency gap exists between large-area perovskite solar modules and small-area perovskite solar cells. The control of forming uniform and large-area film and perovskite crystallization is still the main obstacle restricting the efficiency of PSMs.In this work,we adopted a solid-liquid two-step film formation technique, which involved the evaporation of a lead iodide film and blade coating of an organic ammonium halide solution to prepare perovskite films. This method possesses the advantages of integrating vapor deposition and solution methods, which could apply to substrates with different roughness and avoid using toxic solvents to achieve a more uniform,large-area perovskite film.Furthermore, modification of the NiO_(x)/perovskite buried interface and introduction of Urea additives were utilized to reduce interface recombination and regulate perovskite crystallization. As a result,a large-area perovskite film possessing larger grains, fewer pinholes, and reduced defects could be achieved. The inverted PSM with an active area of 61.56 cm^(2)(10×10 cm^(2)substrate)achieved a champion power conversion efficiency of 20.56%and significantly improved stability. This method suggests an innovative approach to resolving the uniformity issue associated with large-area film fabrication. 展开更多

Perovskite crystal facets greatly impact the performance and stability of their corresponding photovoltaic devices.Compared to the(001)facet,the(011)facet yields better photoelectric properties, including higher conductivity and enhanced charge carrier mobility.Thus,achieving(011)facet-exposed films is a promising way to improve device performance. However, the growth of(011)facets is energetically unfavorable in FAPbI_(3) perovskites due to the influence of methylammonium chloride additive.Here,1-butyl-4-methylpyridinium chloride([4MBP]Cl)was used to expose(011)facets.The[4MBP]^(+)cation selectively decreases the surface energy of the(011)facet enabling the growth of the(011)plane.The[4MBP]^(+)cation causes the perovskite nuclei to rotate by 45°such that(011)crystal facets stack along the out-of-plane direction.The(011)facet has excellent charge transport properties and can achieve better-matched energy level alignment. In addition,[4MBP]Cl increases the activation energy barrier for ion migration, suppressing decomposition of the perovskite. As a result,a small-size device(0.06 cm2)and a module(29.0 cm2)based on exposure of the(011)facet achieved power conversion efficiencies of 25.24%and 21.12%,respectively. 展开更多

Commercialization of perovskite solar cells(PSCs) requires the development of high-efficiency devices with none current density-voltage(J-V) hysteresis. Here, electron transport layers(ETLs) with gradual change in work function(WF) are successfully fabricated and employed as an ideal model to investigate the energy barriers, charge transfer and recombination kinetics at ETL/perovskite interface. The energy barrier for electron injection existing at ETL/perovskite is directly assessed by surface photovoltage microscopy, and the results demonstrate the tunable barriers have significant impact on the J-V hysteresis and performance of PSCs. By work function engineering of ETL, PSCs exhibit PCEs over 21% with negligible hysteresis. These results provide a critical understanding of the origin reason for hysteresis effect in planar PSCs, and clear reveal that the J-V hysteresis can be effectively suppressed by carefully tuning the interface features in PSCs. By extending this strategy to a modified formamidinium-cesium-rubidium(FA-Cs-Rb) perovskite system, the PCEs are further boosted to 24.18%. Moreover, 5 cm × 5 cm perovskite mini-modules are also fabricated with an impressive efficiency of 20.07%, demonstrating compatibility and effectiveness of our strategy on upscaled devices. 展开更多

Over the last decade, remarkable progress has been made in metal halide perovskite solar cells(PSCs),which have been a focus of emerging photovoltaic techniques and show great potential for commercialization. However, the upscaling of small-area PSCs to large-area solar modules to meet the demands of practical applications remains a significant challenge. The scalable production of high-quality perovskite films by a simple, reproducible process is crucial for resolving this issue.Furthermore, the crystallization behavior in the solution-processed fabrication of perovskite films can be strongly influenced by the physicochemical properties of the precursor inks, which are significantly affected by the employed solvents and their interactions with the solutes. Thus,a comprehensive understanding of solvent engineering for fabricating perovskite films over large areas is urgently required. In this paper,we first analyze the role of solvents in the solution-processed fabrication of large-area perovskite films based on the classical crystal nucleation and growth mechanism.Recent efforts in solvent engineering to improve the quality of perovskite films for solar modules are discussed. Finally, the basic principles and future challenges of solvent system design for scalable fabrication of high-quality perovskite films for efficient solar modules are proposed. 展开更多

With the rapid rise in perovskite solar cells(PSCs)performance,it is imperative to develop scalable fabrication techniques to accelerate potential commercialization. However, the power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of PSCs fabricated via scalable two-step sequential deposition lag far behind the state-of-the-art spin-coated ones.Herein, the additive methylammonium chloride(MACl)is introduced to modulate the crystallization and orientation of a two-step sequential doctorbladed perovskite film in ambient conditions.MACl can significantly improve perovskite film quality and increase grain size and crystallinity, thus decreasing trap density and suppressing nonradiative recombination.Meanwhile,MACl also promotes the preferred face-up orientation of the(100)plane of perovskite film, which is more conducive to the transport and collection of carriers, thereby significantly improving the fill factor. As a result,a champion PCE of 23.14%and excellent longterm stability are achieved for PSCs based on the structure of ITO/SnO_(2)/FA_(1-x)MA_xPb(I_(1-y)Br_y)_3/Spiro-OMeTAD/Ag.The superior PCEs of 21.20%and 17.54%are achieved for 1.03 cm~2 PSC and 10.93 cm~2 mini-module,respectively.These results represent substantial progress in large-scale two-step sequential deposition of high-performance PSCs for practical applications. 展开更多

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have attracted more and more attention in the scientific community due to their high performance and simple fabrication process. In the past few years, emerging technologies have made manufacturing large-scale PSC modules possible. However, stability and fabrication issues still limit the modularization and commercialization of PSCs.Carbon materials have been widely used in PSCs to overcome these challenges due to their excellent optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. In addition, the hydrophobic properties of certain carbon materials are highly effective at protecting the perovskite film from moisture and improving the stability of PSCs.All these superior properties have made carbon one of the most promising materials to fabricate future highperformance PSC modules with long service lifetimes. In this review, recent developments of carbon-based materials in different layers of single-junction PSCs will first be discussed, with an emphasis on functionalities related to PSCs’stability and modularization. Then, current improvements and future discussions in the manufacturing of monolithic PSC modules will be reviewed in detail. 展开更多

Progresses in photovoltaic technologies over the past years are evident from the lower costs, the rising efficiency, to the great improvements in system reliability and yield. Cumulative installed power yearly growths were on an average more than 40% in the period from 2007 to 2016 and in 2016, the global cumulative photovoltaic power installed has reached 320 GWp. The level 0.5 TWp could be reached before 2020. The production processes in the solar industry still have great potential for optimization both wafer based and thin film technologies. Trends following from the present technology levels are discussed, also taking into account other parts of photovoltaic systems that influence the cost of electrical energy produced. Present developments in the three generations of photovoltaic modules are discussed along with the criteria for the selection of appropriate photovoltaic module manufacturing technologies. The wafer based crystalline silicon(csilicon) technologies have the role of workhorse of present photovoltaic power generation, representing more than 90% of total module production. Further technology improvements have to be implemented without significantly increasing costs per unit, despite the necessarily more complex manufacturing processes involved. The tandem of c-silicon and thin film cells is very promising. Durability may be a limiting factor of this technology due to the dependence of the produced electricity cost on the module service time. 展开更多

Most thin-film photovoltaic modules are constructed on soda-lime glass(SLG)substrates containing alkali oxides, such as Na_(2)O.Na may diffuse from SLG into a module's active layers through P1 lines,an area between a module's constituent cells where the substrate-side charge transport layer(CTL)is in direct contact with SLG.Na diffusion from SLG is known to cause several important effects inⅡ-Ⅵand chalcogenide solar modules, but it has not been studied in perovskite solar modules(PSMs).In this work,we use complementary microscopy and spectroscopy techniques to show that Na diffusion occurs in the fabrication process of PSMs.Na diffuses vertically inside P1 lines and then laterally from P1 lines into the active area for up to 360 pm.We propose that this process is driven by the high temperatures the devices are exposed to during CTL and perovskite annealing. The diffused Na preferentially binds with Br,forming Br-poor,l-rich perovskite and a species rich in Na and Br(Na-Br)close to P1 lines.Na-Br passivates defect sites, reducing non-radiative recombination in the perovskite and boosting its luminescence by up to 5×.Na-Br is observed to be stable after 12 weeks of device storage, suggesting long-lasting effects of Na diffusion. Our results not only point to a potential avenue to increase PSM performance but also highlight the possibility of unabated Na diffusion throughout a module's lifetime, especially if accelerated by the electric field and elevated temperatures achievable during device operation. 展开更多

Power conversion efficiency(PCE) of perovskite solar cells(PSC) has been skyrocketed to certified 25.5% owing to their improved and tunable optoelectronic properties. Although, various strategies have been adopted to date regarding PCE and stability enhancement within PSC technology, certain instability factors(moisture, heat, light) are hindering their commercial placement. Recently, all-inorganic PSCs got hype in the photovoltaic research community after they attained PCE > 20% and due to their significant endurance against heat and light mishmashes, but there only left moisture sensitivity as the only roadblock for their industrial integration. Here, we review the recent progress of additive inclusion into allinorganic(CsPbX_(3)) PSCs to stabilize their intrinsic structure and to withstand the performance limiting factors. We start with the detailed description of chemical instability of different perovskite compositions, phase segregation, and how organic molecules and dyes help to repair the structural defects to improve the overall PCE and stability of PSCs. Moisture endurance as a result of chemical passivation through organic additives, low-dimensional inorganic PSCs to enhance device stability and scalable fabrication of CsPbX_(3) PSCs are also reviewed. The challenges of module degradation and design implications with proposed strategies and outlook are interpreted in the ending phrases of this review. 展开更多

Bone tissue engineering may be hindered by underlying osteoporosis because of a decreased osteogenic ability of autologous seed cells and an unfavorably changed microenvironment in these patients. Epigenetic regulation plays an important role in the developmental origins of osteoporosis; however, few studies have investigated the potential of epigenetic therapy to improve or rescue the osteogenic ability of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMMSCs) under osteoporotic conditions. Here, we investigated pargyline, an inhibitor of lysine-specific demethylase 1(LSD1), which mainly catalyzes the demethylation of the di- and mono-methylation of H3K4. We demonstrated that 1.5 mmol·Lpargyline was the optimal concentration for the osteogenic differentiation of human BMMSCs. Pargyline rescued the osteogenic differentiation ability of mouse BMMSCs under osteoporotic conditions by enhancing the dimethylation level of H3K4 at the promoter regions of osteogenesis-related genes. Moreover, pargyline partially rescued or prevented the osteoporotic conditions in aged or ovariectomized mouse models, respectively. By introducing the concept of epigenetic therapy into the field of osteoporosis, this study demonstrated that LSD1 inhibitors could improve the clinical practice of MSC-based bone tissue engineering and proposes their novel use to treat osteoporosis. 展开更多

Objectives Endothelial senescence has been proposed to be involved in endothelial dysfunction and atherogenesis. This study investigates the effects of ginsenoside Rbl, a major constituent of ginseng,on H2O2-induced endothelial senescence. Methods Primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) senescence was induced by H2O2 as judged by senescence-associated P-galactosidase assay (SA-P-gal).Fntracellur superoxide dismutase(S0D1) activity and malondialdehyde(MDA) level were determined by commercial kit.S0D1 mRNA and protein expression were analyzed by real time PCR and Western blot.Reactive oxygen species(ROS) were determined by flow cytometry. Results Rb1 was found to reverse endothelial senescence,as witnessed by a significant decrease of senescent cell numbers. Rbl could markedly increase intracellular SOD activity, decrease the MDA level, and suppress the generation of intracellular ROS in H2O2-treated HUVECs.Consistent with these findings,Rbl can effectively restore SOD1 mRNA and protein expression which decreased in H2O2 treated cells. Conclusions Our report demonstrates thatRbl can exert reversal effects on H2O2-induced cellular senescence through modulating cellular redox status. 展开更多

Tendon ageing is a complicated process caused by multifaceted pathways and ageing plays a critical role in the occurrence and severity of tendon injury. The role of tendon stem/progenitor cells(TSPCs)in tendon maintenance and regeneration has received increasing attention in recent years. The decreased capacity of TSPCs in seniors contributes to impaired tendon functions and raises questions as to what extent these cells either affect,or cause ageing, and whether these age-related cellular alterations are caused by intrinsic factors or the cellular environment. In this review, recent discoveries concerning the biological characteristics of TSPCs and age-related changes in TSPCs,including the effects of cellular epigenetic alterations and the mechanisms involved in the ageing process, are analyzed.During the ageing process,TSPCs ageing might occur as a natural part of the tendon ageing, but could also result from decreased levels of growth factor, hormone deficits and changes in other related factors. Here,we discuss methods that might induce the rejuvenation of TSPC functions that are impaired during ageing, including moderate exercise, cell extracellular matrix condition, growth factors and hormones;these methods aim to rejuvenate the features of youthfulness with the ultimate goal of improving human health during ageing. 展开更多

AIM:To investigate cytokine production and cell surface phenotypes of dendritic cells (DC) in the presence of epithelial cells stimulated by probiotics.METHODS:Mouse DC were cultured alone or together with mouse epithelial cell monolayers in normal or inverted systems and were stimulated with heat-killed probiotic bacteria,Bifidobacterium lactis AD011 (BL),Bifidobacterium bifidum BGN4 (BB),Lactobacillus casei IBS041 (LC),and Lactobacillus acidophilus AD031 (LA),for 12 h.Cytokine levels in the culture supernatants were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and phenotypic analysis of DC was investigated by flow cytometry.RESULTS:BB and LC in single-cultured DC increased the expression of I-Ad,CD86 and CD40 (I-Ad,18.51 vs 30.88,46.11;CD86,62.74 vs 92.7,104.12;CD40,0.67 vs 6.39,3.37,P < 0.05).All of the experimental probiot-ics increased the production of inflammatory cytokines, interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α.However,in the normal co-culture systems,LC and LA decreased the expression of I-A d (39.46 vs 30.32,33.26,P < 0.05),and none of the experimental probiotics increased the levels of IL-6 or TNF-α.In the inverted coculture systems,LC decreased the expression of CD40 (1.36 vs-2.27,P < 0.05),and all of the experimental probiotics decreased the levels of IL-6.In addition,BL increased the production of IL-10 (103.8 vs 166.0,P < 0.05) and LC and LA increased transforming growth factor-β secretion (235.9 vs 618.9,607.6,P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:These results suggest that specific probiotic strains exert differential immune modulation mediated by the interaction of dendritic cells and epithelial cells in the homeostasis of gastrointestinal tract. 展开更多

The interaction between the cell membrane and the extracellular matrix is crucial for many cellular functions by modulating mechanosensitive signaling pathways.Physical properties of the extracellular matrix such as stiffness and topography affect such interactions. Our recent work reveals that surface topography of tens to hundreds of nanometer scale modulates cell signaling by activating intracellular curvature-sensitive proteins. We use vertical nanostructures protruding from a flat surface as a platform to induce precise curvatures on the cell membrane and to probe biological processes in live cells.Vertical nanopillars deform the plasma membrane inwards and induce membrane curvature when the cell engulfs them, leading to a reduction of the membrane-substrate gap distance. We found that the high membrane curvature induced by vertical nanopillars significantly affects the distribution of curvature-sensitive proteins and stimulates several cellular processes in live cells including cellular endocytosis and cytoskeleton dynamics. Our studies show a strong interplay between biological cells and nano-featured surfaces, which is an essential consideration for future development of interfacing devices. 展开更多

Objective: To discuss the effect of intensity modulated radiation therapy combined with paclitaxel + endostar chemotherapy on serum malignant molecule levels in patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Methods: Patients with locally advanced NSCLC who were treated in the hospital between February 2015 and January 2017 were collected and divided into control group (n=59) and research group (n=59) by random number table. Control group received the routine paclitaxel + endostar chemotherapy after the operation, and research group underwent intensity modulated radiation therapy combined with paclitaxel +endostar chemotherapy after the operation. The differences in serum levels of NSCLC-related tumor markers and angiogenesis indexes were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: Before treatment, the differences in serum levels of NSCLC-related tumor markers and angiogenesis indexes were not statistically significant between the two groups. After treatment, serum TK1, CYFRA21-1, Pro-GRP, CEA, CA125 and SCC-Ag levels of research group were lower than those of control group;serum EGFR, COX-2, VEGF, HIF-1 and MMP-2 levels of research group were lower than those of control group. Conclusion:Postoperative intensity modulated radiation therapy combined with paclitaxel + endostar chemotherapy can effectively reduce the serum malignant molecule levels and optimize the illness in patients with local advanced NSCLC. 展开更多

Objective The apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)influenced by abnormal cyclic stretch is crucial for vascular remodeling during hypertension. We explored that the causes of mechano-responsive lamin A/C changingin aonormai cyclic stretcn and its roles in VSMC apoptosis. Methods and results Our previous vascular proteomics study revealed that LaminA/C is mechano-sensitive molecule. When VSMCs are subjected to cyclic stretch, the expression of LaminA/C is significantly changed which participates dysfunctions of VSMCs during hypertension. However, the molecular mechanism involved in regulation of LaminA/C expression and the role of LaminA/C in the VSMC apoptosis during cyclic stretch application are still unclear. In the present study,VSMCs were subjected to different amplitudes of cyclic steetch in vitro:5%cyclic stretch(physiological strain)or 15%cyclic stretch(pathological strain). The expression of 2 different selective cleavage isomers of LaminA/C,i.e.LaminA and LaminC,and the apoptosis of VSMCs were detected. The results showed that compared with 5%group,15%cyclic stretch significantly decreased the expression of LaminA and LaminC,and promoted the apoptosis of VSMCs.Using specific small interfering RNA(siRNA)transfection which targets on LMNA the encoding gene of LaminA/C,the expression of LaminA and LaminC in VSMCs was significantly decreased, and the apoptosis was significantly increased. In order to study the molecular mechanism involved in cyclic stretch regulating the expression of LaminA/C,we focused on the microRNA(miR).Bioinformatics analysis showed that the 3’untranslated region(3’UTR)of LMNA has two potential binding sites to miR-124-3p.Double luciferase reported system revealed that both sites have binding abilities to miR-124-3p.Under static condition,miR-124-3p inhibitor significantly up-regulated the expression levels of LaminA and LaminC,while the miR-124-3p mimics significantly down-regulated them.RT-PCR results showed that 15%cyclic stretch significantly up-regulated the expression of miR-124-3p compared with 5%cyclic stretch.Furthermore,in order to study the role of changeed LaminA/C in VSMC apoptosis,LMNA-specific siRNA was transfected to repress the expression of LaminA/C in VSMCs,and Protein/DNA microarray was used to detecte the activity of transcription factors. The transcription factors whose activity were changed significantly(increase or decrease more than 2 times)were analyzed by cluster analysis and ingenurity pathway analysis(IPA).Six transcription factors associated with apoptosis were screened,in which TP53 was activated by the specific siRNA transfection and the other 5 were inavtived, including TP53,CREB1,MYC,STAT1/5/6 and JUN.Using abdominal aorta coarctation hypertensive model, the change of miR-124-3p in VSMCs was explored in vivo.A marked increase of miR-124-3p in thoracic aorta was revealed compared with the sham-operated controls, and in situ FISH revealed that this increase was mainly in the VSMCs.Conclusions The present study suggest that abnormally increased cyclic stretch(15%)up-regulates the expression of miR-124-3p in VSMCs,which subsequently targets on the 3’UTR of LMNA and decreases the expression of nuclear envelope protein LaminA/C;the repressed LaminA/C may play an important role in the apoptosis of VSMCs by regulating the activity of virious transcription factors, such as TP53,CREB1,MYC,STAT1/5/6 and JUN.The present study may provide a new insight into understanding the molecular mechanisms of vascular remodeling. 展开更多
