This paper calculates ZOrn over several land surfaces, with 3 years of experimental data from Xiaotangshan. The results show that Z0m is direction-dependent, mainly due to the heterogeneity of the size and spatial distribution of the roughness elements inside the source area along different wind directions. Furthermore, a heuristic parameterization of the aerodynamic roughness length for heterogeneous surfaces is proposed. In condition that the bionic dimpled characteristic diameters were 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 mm, respectively, by numerical simulation, the influence of the installing compression of the rubber sealing ring on its surface stress and deformation was analyzed, and sealing performance of the rubber ring with different diameters of bionic dimpled was studied. The results show that the deformation of rubber ring appears prominent nonlinear characteristics when compression is increased from 1.5 mm to 2.5 ram. When the compression is 2.5 mm, the equivalent compression stress on the sealing areas of both sides of the rubber seal is greater than the working pressure of aerodynamic extinguishing cannon, which could meet the sealing requirement and would not cause leakage. So the rubber sealing ring with bionic dimpled surface possesses a good sealing characteristic and has no negative effect on the sealing of shell body; When the compression is 2.5 mm, the larger equivalent stress on the edge of sealing ring and the more even stress distribution in the high pressure area are generated due to the smaller compressive stress on the bionic dimple areas, which lays a foundation for the drag reduction characteristics of the shell body's rubber ring with bionic dimpled surface.展开更多

The complete time history of wall heat flux is presented with both analytical and numerical approaches. With the analytical method, the unsteady compressible boundary layer equation is solved. In the neighborhood of the initial and final steady states, the transient responses can be expressed with a steady-state solution plus a perturbation series. By combining these two solutions, a complete solution in the entire time domain is achieved. In the region in which the analytical approach is applicable, numerical results are in good agreement with the analytical results, showing reliability of the methods. The result shows two distinct features of the unsteady response. In a short period just after a sudden increase in the wall temperature, the direction of the wall heat flux is reverted, and a new inflexion near the wall occurs in the profile of the thermal boundary layer. This is a typical unsteady characteristic. However, these unsteady responses only exist in a very short period in hypersonic flows, meaning that, in a long-term aerodynamic heating process considering only unsteady surface temperature, the unsteady characteristics of the flow can be ignored, and the traditional quasi-steady aerodynamic heating prediction methods are still valid.展开更多

The present work calculates aerodynamic drag of the Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer(GOCE) satellite using the test particle Monte Carlo(TPMC) method. The primary goal is to obtain a comprehensive understanding of surface pressure and skin friction on the spacecraft surface and assess the sensitivity of aerodynamic drag to the gas-surface interaction(GSI) models. Results indicate that surface pressure is mainly distributed on the front of the satellite body and panels while skin friction is primarily distributed on the sides. In addition, as the GSI model changes from diffuse to specular reflection, the total drag coefficient is reduced at operation altitudes above 170 km. Therefore, the satellite surface should be processed so carefully that the GSI remains far from diffuse reflection from the view point of the drag-reduce design.展开更多

It is very important to reduce the aerodynamic noise generated by the centrifugal fan. The flow field and the sound field on the whole centrifugal fan configuration have been carried out using the computational fluid dynamics. Simulation results show that the sound pressure level near the outlet of the centrifugal fan is too high. Based on the relationship between flow characteristics and the aerodynamic noise, four parameters of the centrifugal fan, i.e., impeller blade's outlet angle 0, volute tongue's gap t, collector inclination angle fl, and rotating speed n, were selected as design variables and optimized using response surface methodology. While keeping the function of flow rate unchanged, the peak noise level is reduced by 8 dB or 10.8%. The noise level is satisfactorily reduced.展开更多

Calculation of water requirement of crops grown in greenhouse and determination of their irrigation schedules in arid and semi-arid regions are essential for greenhouse maintenance and have thus attracted increased attention over the past decades. The most common method used in the literature to estimate crop evapotranspiration(ET) is the Penman-Monteith(PM) formula. When applied to greenhouse, however, it often uses canopy resistance instead of surface resistance. It is understood that the surface resistance in greenhouse is the result of a combined effect of canopy restriction and soil-surface restriction to water vapor flow, and the relative dominance of one restriction over another depends on crop canopy. In this paper, we developed a surface resistance model in a way similar to two parallel resistances in an electrical circuit to account for both restrictions. Also, considering that wind speed in greenhouse is normally rather small, we compared three methods available in the literature to calculate the aerodynamic resistance, which are the r_a^1 method proposed by Perrier(1975a, b), the r_a^2 method proposed by Thom and Oliver(1977), and the r_a^3 method proposed by Zhang and Lemeu(1992). We validated the model against ET of tomatoes in a greenhouse measured from sap flow system combined with micro-lysimeter in 2015 and with weighing lysimeter in 2016. The results showed that the proposed surface resistance model improved the accuracy of the PM model, especially when the leaf area index was low and the greenhouse was being irrigated. We also found that the aerodynamic resistance calculated from the r_a^1 and r_a^3 methods is applicable to the greenhouse although the latter is slightly more accurate than the former. The proposed surface resistance model, together with the r_a^3 method for aerodynamic resistance, offers an improved approach to estimate ET in greenhouse using the PM formula.展开更多

Significant reduction in lift and increase in dragwere found for all cases with the LE roughness applied. Compared with the distribution pattern, the roughness height was found to be a more significant factor in determining the lift reductionand altering stall behaviors. It is also found while the larger roughness advances the aerodynamicstall, the smaller roughness tends to prevent deep stall at high incident angles. PIV results alsosuggest that staggered distribution pattern induces higher fluctuations in the wake flow than thealigned pattern does. Results imply that distributed LE roughness with large element sizes areparticularly detrimental to aerodynamic performances, while those with small element sizes couldpotentially serve as a passive control mechanism to alleviate deep stall conditions at high incidentangles.展开更多

Under the static condition, a RF diffuse glow discharge can be observed; under the supersonic inflow, the plasma is blown downstream but remains continuous and stable.Time-resolved schlieren is used for flow field visualization. It is found that RF discharge not only leads to continuous energy deposition on the electrode surface but also induces a compression wave. Under the supersonic inflow condition, a weak oblique shock wave is induced by discharge. Experimental results of the shock wave control indicate that the applied actuation can disperse the bottom structure of the ramp-induced oblique shock wave, which is also observed in the extracted shock wave structure after image processing. More importantly, this control effect can be maintained steadily due to the continuous high-frequency(MHz) discharge. Finally, correlations for schlieren images and numerical simulations are employed to further explore the flow control mechanism. It is observed that the vortex in the boundary layer increases after the application of actuation, meaning that the boundary layer in the downstream of the actuation position is thickened. This is equivalent to covering a layer of low-density smooth wall around the compression corner and on the ramp surface, thereby weakening the compressibility at the compression corner. Our results demonstrate the ability of RF plasma aerodynamic actuation to control the supersonic airflow.展开更多

文摘Improving energy efficiency in plasma NO removal is a critical issue. When the surface dielectric barrier discharge(SDBD)device is considered as a combination of multiple plasma actuators, the induced plasma aerodynamic effect cannot be ignored, which can affect the mass transfer, then affect the chemical reactions.Five SDBD devices with different electrode arrangements are studied for NO conversion. They correspond to different flow patterns. We find that the energy efficiency in an SDBD device with a common structure(Type 1)is 28%lower than that in SDBD devices with a special arrangement(Types 2–5).Two reasons may explain the results.First, fewer active species are produced in Type 1 because the development of discharge is hindered by the mutually exclusive electric field forces caused by the symmetrically distributed charged particles.Second, the plasma wind induced by the plasma actuator can enhance the mass and heat transfer. The mixing of reactants and products is better in Types 2–5 than Type 1 due to higher turbulence kinetic energy.

文摘Purpose–This study aims to explore the formation mechanism of aerodynamic noise of a high-speed maglev train and understand the characteristics of dipole and quadrupole sound sources of the maglev train at different speed levels.Design/methodology/approach–Based on large eddy simulation(LES)method and Kirchhoff–Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings(K-FWH)equations,the characteristics of dipole and quadrupole sound sources of maglev trains at different speed levels were simulated and analyzed by constructing reasonable penetrable integral surface.Findings–The spatial disturbance resulting from the separation of the boundary layer in the streamlined area of the tail car is the source of aerodynamic sound of the maglev train. The dipole sources of the train are mainly distributed around the radio terminals of the head and tail cars of the maglev train, the bottom of the arms of the streamlined parts of the head and tail cars and the nose tip area of the streamlined part of the tail car,and the quadrupole sources are mainly distributed in the wake area. When the train runs at three speed levels of 400,500 and 600 km$h1,respectively,the radiated energy of quadrupole source is 62.4%,63.3%and 71.7%,respectively,which exceeds that of dipole sources.Originality/value–This study can help understand the aerodynamic noise characteristics generated by the high-speed maglev train and provide a reference for the optimization design of its aerodynamic shape.

文摘The high aerodynamic noise induced by automotive air conditioning systems has important effects on the ride comfort, and the centrifugal fan is the largest noise source in these systems. The noise level is satisfactorily reduced.

文摘Greenhousing is a technique to bridge season gap in vegetable production and has been widely used worldwide. The proposed surface resistance model, together with the r_a^3 method for aerodynamic resistance, offers an improved approach to estimate ET in greenhouse using the PM formula.
文摘Distributed leading-edge (LE) roughness could have significant impact on the aerodynamicperformance of a low-Reynolds-number (low-Re) airfoil, which has not yet been fully understood. In the present study, experiments were conducted to study the effects of distributed hemisphericalroughness with different sizes and distribution patterns on the performance of a GA (W)-1 airfoil.Surface pressure and particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements were performed undervarious incident angles and different Re numbers. Results imply that distributed LE roughness with large element sizes areparticularly detrimental to aerodynamic performances, while those with small element sizes couldpotentially serve as a passive control mechanism to alleviate deep stall conditions at high incidentangles.

文摘In this paper, aerodynamic actuation characteristics of radio-frequency(RF) discharge plasma are studied and a method is proposed for shock wave control based on RF discharge. Our results demonstrate the ability of RF plasma aerodynamic actuation to control the supersonic airflow.

文摘Based on the measurements from the US National Data Buoy Center 3-m discus buoy site No. 44004 (38.5°N, 70.47°W) from January 1 to March 31 of 2003, with the COARE algorithm (Version 3.0), the results from four parameterization schemes developed recently for sea surface aerodynamic roughness length were compared with each other. Calculations of frictional speed u., drag coefficient Ca and wind stress r indicate that the calculated frictional velocities from the four schemes (8.50%-16.20%, the normalized standard error estimate, or NSEE), the computed drag coefficients and wind stress (respectively 15.08%-28.67% and 17.26%,50.59% NSEE) are reasonable. Schemes YT96 and GW03 are consistent. The 002 scheme gives overestimated values for u, and Ca. Schemes TY01 and GW03 display discontinuous characteristics in handling young wave data.
