Simultaneous propagation of optical pulses in an inhomogeneous optical fiber is described by a coupled time-dependent coefficient fourth-order nonlinear Schr?dinger system, which is discussed in this paper. For such a system, we work out the Lax pair, Darboux transformation, and corresponding vector semi-rational nonautonomous rogue wave solutions. When the group velocity dispersion(GVD) and fourth-order dispersion(FOD) coefficients are the constants, we exhibit the first-and second-order vector semirational rogue waves which are composed of the four-petalled rogue waves and eye-shaped breathers. Both the width of the rogue wave along the time axis and temporal separation between the adjacent peaks of the breather decrease with the GVD coefficient or FOD coefficient. With the GVD and FOD coefficients as the linear, cosine, and exponential functions, we respectively present the first-and second-order periodic vector semi-rational rogue waves, first-and second-order asymmetry vector semi-rational rogue waves, and interactions between the eye-shaped breathers and the composite rogue waves.展开更多

The lattice parameters of the grown crystal have been determined by X-ray diffraction studies. Vibrational spectrum is recorded to determine symmetries of molecular vibrations. Optical absorbance spectrum recorded revealed that this crystal has good transparency in the visible region. The second harmonic generation test of BTNB confirmed the nonlinear nature of the crystal. The BTNB crystal was analyzed by a differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis (DTA-TGA) to obtain its thermal stability. Vickers microhardness test done on the crystal shows that the crystal has greater physical strength.展开更多

The effects of quantum dot size on the interband and intraband transitions energy are also analyzed. The finite element method is used to calculate the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. Strain and In-mole-fraction effects are also studied, and the results reveal that with the decrease of the In-mole fraction, the amplitudes of linear and nonlinear absorption coefficients increase. The present computed results show that the absorption coefficients of transitions between the first excited states are stronger than those of the ground states. In addition, it has been found that the quantum dot size affects the amplitudes and peak positions of linear and nonlinear absorption coefficients while the incident optical intensity strongly affects the nonlinear absorption coefficients.展开更多

At 532 nm, when increasing excitation intensity, NLO absorption of TiO2 NPs transforms from saturable absorption to reverse-saturable absorption. However, NWs and NWAs exhibit the opposite change. At 780nm, all samples show reverse-saturable absorption, but have different sensitivities to excitation intensity. Due to the larger surface-to-volume ratio of NPs and less defects of NWAs by annealing, nonlinear optical absorption coet^icients follow the order NPs≥ NWs≥ NWAs. The results also show that these shape and annealing effects axe dominant at low excitation intensity, but do not exhibit at the high excitation intensity. The NLO refractive index of NPs shows a positive linear relationship with the excitation intensity, whereas NW and NWAs exhibit a negative linear relationship. The results could provide some foundational guidance to applications of anatase TiO2 in optoelectronic devices or other aspects.展开更多

Two kinds of doped organic/inorganic hybrid nonlinear optical (NLO) materials containing NHA and DO3 were synthesized by Sol-Gel process. The preparation and properties of two NLO materials were studied and characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR, UV-VIS, SEM, DSC and SHG measurements. The results show that the maximum doping amounts of NHA and DO3 in two doped hybrid NLO materials are 7.2(wt)% and 11.3(wt)% respectively, and the corresponding second-order NLO coefficients (d33 values) are 2.91×10 8esu and 6.14×10 8esu. Two doped NLO materials have relatively good RT stability, after 90 days at RT the d33 values can maintain about 85% of their initial values, but after 10h at 100℃ can only maintain about 50% of their initial values. In this report, the reasons for high-temperature instability of doped materials were discussed, and the possible improvements were also suggested.展开更多

Thus, we use an indirect resolution technique based on the use of the iB-function to first decouple the nonlinear partial differential equations that govern the propagation dynamics in this case, and subsequently solve them to propose some prototype solutions. These analytical solutions have been obtained;we check the impact of nonlinearity and dispersion. The interest of this work lies not only in the resolution of the partial differential equations that govern the dynamics of wave propagation in this case since these equations not at all easy to integrate analytically and their analytical solutions are very rare, in other words, we propose analytically the solutions of the nonlinear coupled partial differential equations which govern the dynamics of four-wave mixing in optical fibers. Beyond the physical interest of this work, there is also an appreciable mathematical interest.展开更多

A freeradical polymerization was performed to fabricate the methacrylate/Silica hybrid NLO films. Different amounts ( 5-25 wt% ) of (γ-methacrylpropyl) -polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) were added as the modifier to improve the degree of cross-linking, density and structure of the NLO matrix. As a result, the modified material properties including coating transmittance, glass transition temperature ( Tg ) , absoption spectra before and after poling, Marker stripes, etc. were presented. The hybrid film containing 15 wt% POSS exhibits the highest T, nonresonant second-order nonlinearity (d33 = 92 pro/V) and temporal stability among the others.展开更多
